- A look into the dark-turned-beautiful experiences of some women in the Bible. Known by their communities as people of shame, the outcast, the abused, the unfaithful, the sick, and the demon-possessed, they encounter Jesus and their stories change forever.
Amidst their pain and tears, God sees them, God finds them, God heals them, God loves them, and God calls them to follow Him. After these encounters they receive help, healing, and forevermore proclaim the goodness of God. (And they still represent all people, 2,000 years later.)
Hagar, the Woman at the Well, the Bleeding Woman, and Mary Magdalene.
A story song (longer than a radio song!) but close to my heart when I went through a very dark valley. The Good Shepherd led me out and I believe wholeheartedly that He can lead you out, too. This song is one of the fruits of that difficult time.
"The God Who Sees Me"
Song by Addie Gladu 2025
Verse 1 - Hagar wasn’t a woman of the fold, and she was far from home.
A servant who was angry and ashamed, she decided to run to a wild and lonely place.
Then the angel found her sitting at the spring, and he told her, “You must turn around.
“You are now with child, he’s destined to be wild, but the Lord has heard your cry.”
So then Hagar sighed,
Chorus 1
“You’re the God who sees me. You’re the God who sees me,
in everything, in everything.
You’re the God who sees me. You’re the God who sees me,
in everything, in everything, Glory to You.”
Verse 2 - There was a woman embarrassed by her past, 5 men she divorced and the 6th would be her last.
Then Jesus found her standing at the well, her story He began to tell.
Then she stood amazed, “You know what I have done, yet you still return my gaze.”
Jesus said, “Come drink of this ever-living spring, the Great I Am is my name.”
So the woman proclaimed,
Chorus 2
“My Messiah found me. My Messiah found me.
I’m not alone, I’m not alone.
My Messiah found me. My Messiah found me.
I’m not alone, I’m not alone, Glory to You.”
*You’re the God who hears, You’re the God who knows, You’re the God who finds me, wherever I roam. You’re the God who heals, You’re the God who shows me that you’re the God who sees me, even from Your throne.*
Verse 3 - One day Jesus was walking through a crowd, and the people were pushing; there were voices all around
Then a woman who was bleeding without end, she touched Jesus’ robe with a weak and trembling hand.
So suddenly, she knew she had been healed. She was clean and blameless again.
Jesus said, “Who touched me? My power is revealed. My love for you has no end.”
So the healthy woman said,
Chorus
“You’re the God who heals me. You’re the God who heals me. I was unclean, but now I’m free. You’re the God who heals me, You’re the God who heals me, I was unclean, but now I’m free - Glory to You.”
Verse 4 - There was a darkness over Mary Magdalene, seven demons had tried to win.
Then Jesus came and cast the demons out, Mary’s freedom brought her to a shout
For the victory over Satan’s evil plan. And the light that came to her life.
So she followed Jesus until the day He died. Then she waited for Him to arise,
“Oh my Rabbi’s alive!”
Chorus
“You’re the God who loves me, You’re the God who loves me, You are my light, You are my light. You’re the God who loves me, You’re the God who loves me, You are my light, You are my light - I’ll follow You.
I’ll follow You,
Glory to You.”
*You’re the God who hears, You’re the God who knows, You’re the God who finds me, wherever I roam. You’re the God who heals, You’re the God who shows me that you’re the God who sees me, even from Your throne.*
Chorus 1
“You’re the God who sees me. You’re the God who sees me,
in everything, in everything.
You’re the God who sees me. You’re the God who sees me,
in everything, in everything, Glory to You.”
