Oh gosh, that cranking to start sound goes all across the different engine models! Drool. Exuberance of a boy at 60 for me! Again, thank you sir. Firmly planted in the 6 cyl side of fascination with a 16 & 525. Oh fun...
The lever directly in the middle is the throttle for the diesel. Just to the left is the lever to switch from gas to diesel. Up is diesel and down is gas. I’ll have a new video out in a week or so that walks through the whole process of starting this engine. Thanks for watching
@PleasantValleyOutdoors ok thanks for the reply! I will be going up to their house on Sunday to get it running. I just purchased a new 8D battery to throw in it. We should be able to figure it out. I've watch my GPA do it but it's been about 25 years ago 😄
that thing is great. question: can you do work by using gasoline side or does it not work properly? just wondering if an injection pump failed, could you finish out the day/job using the gasoline fuel or would that cause problems?
The gas mode is only for starting. It doesn’t have any power. I had to trailer once on gas mode because injector pump issues and it barely made it up. Thanks for watching
No worries I appreciate the info any tips or tricks on making them myself? I have bought parts all over the world for restoring my TD6. I have come across ending covers, but no one wants to loose of them which I don’t blame them so I’m going to have to make some myself any help and info is appreciated. Thanks -Tanner
I used the pictures from the parts catalog and service manuals as a guide. I got sheet steel, cut to size and cut all the slots by hand with a Sabre saw. Very time consuming but they came out looking pretty close to factory.
Would you by chance be able to get me dimensions on how far down you started the first louver? And how far the spacing is between each louver and space between the next set of 4 louvers. I know I’m asking a lot but it would help me out so much, thanks a bunch!

We used to have 4 of them on the Farm because we farmed hills!
Very nice crawler. I enjoyed the video. Thanks!

I have a 1953 that was my late grandfather's. When it fires up on gas, do I just push that middle lever up to switch to diesel?

Evey time I start mine I check the oil levels in the diesel injector pump and the final drives .
I change the oil in the injector pump often. It gets some diesel fuel in it. Thanks for watching

Very nice it’s in great shape for its age! Has it been repainted?
Yes it has. I painted it over 20 years ago. It’s kept inside so that really helps to keep it looking good. Thanks for watching
@@PleasantValleyOutdoors it sounds like from the video your family has had it almost half its life

Hi. Are you still checking messages? I need help with a simple question regarding the magneto. Thanks
Yep
Would you want to sell the engine covers? Or if not do you know anyone that has some that they are willing to part with? Thanks
No sale on engine covers. I built them myself. I have no idea where you could get a pair. Thanks for watching
