They normally don't do anything to cops who lie on affidavits or on the stand. Have heard DA refuse to charge them after judge who rarely suggests it actually asks. They chalk it up to a mistake due to officer being overworked

I’ve listened to this young man speak (Mr. McNair). With his level intelligence and motivation, I believe he’s going to do great things. I’m sorry he had to go through this.
Unfortunately the damage is done. Even if he went through an expungement hearing. The accusation, arrest and any adjudication will appear on a background check. Falsely accused is irrelevant. As this will bar him from any high security positions should he wish to pursue them. Hopefully this isn't the case. But if he should ever have legal troubles in the future. This WILL be used against him during a presentence investigation.

Government actors do not have a 5th amendment right. As a private citizen facing criminal charges they have a 5th amendment right. But if the actions taken were in representation of the government. Then they are not a private citizen. They are a public servant acting on behave of the government.
The officer should not only lose his ability to be a law enforcement officer anywhere in the U.S. but should spend the exact time in jail as his victim did.

Sometimes police just choose to push charges onto people that they personally don't like, or just a random person they encounter in the case that they decide that they don't like, for simply an innocent person they investigate and the person tries to exercise their rights and it makes the officer want to pin the crime on them as a way to teach them a lesson for even trying to exercise their rights. At the end of the day it's all malicious reasons and the people that do it are monsters....... I don't even consider police that do this to be human beings......
