nice speed run, but can we all take a minute to listen to how all of the theme music for each stage is fantastic? definitely brought good memories back
I honestly think those names of the mavericks are awesome! Icy Penguigo Storm Eagleed Boomer Kuwanger (-_-) Burnin' Noumander Sting Chameleao Spark Mandriller Armor Armarge Launcher Octopuld Seriously, those names are awesome!
Nice to see I'm not the only one who finished this game a hundred times. Also thanks for locating the Hadouken. Had no idea that even existed. It sure makes the 2nd part of the game a breeze, especially the final boss. Killing him without Hadouken is actually a challenge... or at least it was the first few times :) Great speedrun!
actually very glad i watched this. i spent years convinced the requires for the hoduken were as follows all energy tanks full, all weapons full, 9 lives, full energy, climb the ledge and hit exit three times. on the fourth one the capsule will appear. someone owes me hours of game play. but your speed run is legit bad ass
The start of a journey. From 36:36, to 35:15, to finally 35:08. You’ve gone far Caleb, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with Megaman X next. Keep up the grind Caleb!!
I gotta say man, that jump to get the heart tank at 9:29 on the boomer stage was absolutely incredible. I've just dragged out my old nintendo stuff for the sole purpose of trying that jump which I didn't even think was possible. I'm trying it as I type this and I still can't hit it. I have no idea how you managed that jump period, let alone on the first try. I've always thought of myself as pretty slick when it comes to mega man x games but good lord I've just been humbled. I've always had to backtrack and get that tank with the boomerang. If I ever needed a bomb defused in just the right way at precisely the right fraction of a second, you'd be at the top of the list of people to call.
The trick that Caleb does with the ledge either a frame perfect or close to frame perfect trick. He wall kicks off the wall at the farthest right position as possible and continues pressing right on the D-pad with the jump button held down. At the correct 'instant' is when he does the wall kick off the ledge. He explains it in one of his videos. He also mentions to not press left on the D-pad when doing this trick. The trick is known as "iceless" for speed-run purposes since ice-sled is what is normally used but the "iceless" trick saves about 8 seconds on a speed-run.
This was the first video game I ever played and my favorite game of all time. I've never done a speed run but I thought after 20 years I would have known every single trick there was, and the best order to do everything in. I was amazed to learn a few extra tricks! I knew about the tower stage being able to grab it without the boomerang but I never thought about doing that stage 3rd to grab items faster. I always did it after the water stage. And I didn't know you could get the heart tank on the sting ray level without the water. Incredible job!
Well that's my childhood wasted, so many tricks to learn from this. I will be playing this game again. Thankyou Caleb. You have re-awakened my heart to Megaman
This is really quite something! I'm really impressed... what is it that you do before entering the boss door at 32:30? You use Magma and then Ice charges... I'm curious!
I watch someone run this game at least once per week, but seeing that thumbnail was the first time I realized how much final sigma's body looks like Majora's Mask.
Awesome play bro, and here is a tip, in storm eagle stage you can climb the glass wall (06:13) and go all the way above, and so prevent takind damage and be pushed back. I know it isn't big deal but might give you a second.
Hey, hope you don't mind. I'm planning on using this footage for background in a video of mine. It'll be blurred out, just as eye-candy for a few bits. You'll be credited and everything, in the video itself and in the description. If you're not cool with that, let me know. Thanks.
Yes. This is called the Armadillo skip. The ice platform acts as a zip and allows me to enter the boss room under abnormal conditions, such as the zip bypassing the camera pan required for armadillo to spawn. I bypassed those conditions; therefore, they were not met, allowing me to skip the boss. However, if you jump in the boss room, it will spawn him.
Actually, a fun bit of trivia for you all, is that if you fire regular shots while dashing, the game registers them as doing double damage, an exploit that allows for killing enemies far faster if your quick on the draw. If you look carefully each hit on him does 2 pegs of damage. This trick works on all the snes mmx games. And now you know.
I think your run of this game live for AGDQ is the most awesome speedrun I've ever seen... Looked like TAS precision, and the no-ice heart was DOPE AS FUCK =3
You need to see the area near the life capsule 5 times in total before you can have access to hadouken. Dying here is the fastest way to revisit the area.
This is a simple glitch. All you do here is just jump, and while you're near the spikes, hit jump again in the air, and that will happen. Don't actually move into the spikes; you will get damaged that way. Also, doing this trick does nothing except confuse people. It does not make anything faster.
I remember doing some shit with the one big black bat at the beginning of the stage to get the hadouken. Plus the few dies. Dont know who telled us that but maybe it had nothing to do with it anyway.^^ Ah we used to waste your childhood on this Game. On some days we tock the SNES with TV outside in the sun so we could say to our parents "we playing outside so what do you want?"
Hold on caleb on the boomerang guys level how did you avoid dying on the spiked wall elevator? It can,t be from hitting enemies because your health bar never decreased during that time.
This is a glitch. Doesn't help anything at all, just swag. The way it works is by jumping off of the wall in the air on the spikes, nothing more. It doesn't register damage for some reason.
so can you explain how the glitch itself is done? I mean usually in megaman x you touch the spikes it's instant death and if you hit the enemies that would cause damage. so how is the glitch done I would like to try it myself on my SNES.
Sir, this trick does indeed work, on the SNES X3. I know because I just double-checked on my physical copy on all original hardware before commenting. Whether it works on the CD based Saturn port of X3 I cannot say, but ALLthe SNES X games do indeed allow this.
Not to be rude, but it's 36:52 by my count. I suppose it depends on when you start counting from and til', but I went from the second the opening stage was loaded to the instant X teleported away from Sigma's Fortress.
Actually it's not, but it's incredibly hard, you have to charge a Shotgun Ice and put it on the wall. You then need to stand on it, equip the X Buster through the start menu and perform the Hadoukan REALLY fast to get a quick kill.
I wish they would create a Mega Man game that is geared more towards adults, less comicy graphics (more towards Borderlands), and maybe a linear open world. But then... I don't know if they could do this and still make it Mega Man.
It's quite a pity that these MMX games are so easy. I'd be happy if these games were so hard as classic MM was. Pass throug a real dificulty lvl with all of those boosters would be much more fun. Awesome video, btw. I can't do this not even in 5 hours ('cause of the last boss). I mean, I've never tried, but I wouldn't be that fast. Gz. õ/
hey got a tip for you. Die twice in the opening stage so when you get the boot in cp stage you can die and come back to get heart and complete lvl with fire
I think my best time is just under 45 minutes, and i dont grab everything either, but still. this totally looks like its 100% tool assisted. Still great to watch though for sure. XD
You have to have all the tanks, hearts, and bosses killed. You then have to touch the ledge infront of the door 4 separate times prior to unlocking the capsule at the top. So yes, dying was necessary :\
nice speed run, but can we all take a minute to listen to how all of the theme music for each stage is fantastic? definitely brought good memories back
Yea the X series had some great tracks for sure.

+fᏞᎪmᎥᏁᎶ ᎶᎪmᎬᏒ fᏆᎳ fᏆᎳ no one cares stfu.
I had no idea about the hadouken or shoryuken until watching caleb vids.
@@ChairmanMeow1I learned about it because of my dad who introduced me to Megaman X. Gotta give him credit for that!
actually very glad i watched this. i spent years convinced the requires for the hoduken were as follows all energy tanks full, all weapons full, 9 lives, full energy, climb the ledge and hit exit three times. on the fourth one the capsule will appear. someone owes me hours of game play. but your speed run is legit bad ass
Dude, you are amazing! Can I see a video so I can learn from you?
The timing scheme is from when you gain control of X to landing the final shot on Final Sigma, resulting in 36:36
Sigmas final always looked like majoras mask to me
D4nkfury Holy crap, I'm not alone?! I always thought the same thing!

Crazy to see old runs! I like it!
Glad you like them!

+fᏞᎪmᎥᏁᎶ ᎶᎪmᎬᏒ fᏆᎳ fᏆᎳ do you have proof? If not then I don't believe you.
9:28 is nuts man.
All these tricky jumps that takes me like a hundred try before succeeding. You just casually succeed them in one try! D:

This would be slower actually. Keep in mind I still have to grab the sub-tank.
+Caleb Hart what weapon did you use to one hit the last bosses
HADOUKEN

Wow, really cool to know. I've gotten back into playing Mega Man X after watching a few runs, but I'm closer to an hour right now, haha.
That does account for my extra seconds I had added in. My apologies, and thanks for clearing that up for me.
What were you trying to do with the ice board, pls answer!, is the only thing i dont understand, did it fail to glich thru? btw u a beast bro.
Haha those jumps for the hadoken.
Is the sound reversed? I was hearing zero's charge on my right side, even he came in from the left side of the screen

Holy crap! This is a very incredible speed run...and you want to try and shave off another 16 seconds? Talk about wanting to achieve perfection.
Charged Chameleon Sting grants you short invincibilty.
Hadouken is an easter egg.
I have a lot of respect for speed runners. Good stuff!
Great run btw. The skill displayed is remarkable !

yeah this is a very cool run to do. It's not the hardest run out there either so can get good times very fast. good luck

Ha! Incredible. You even have the seconds down the the text frames. :D
Almost too impressive, my friend.
I bet Ken and Ryu would rule Mega Man X's world with an Iron Fist.
In that collection, X1 & X2 use SNES ROM data so it'd probably work on them. That version of X3 is from the Saturn, though, So probably not.
I remember doing some shit with the one big black bat at the beginning of the stage to get the hadouken. Plus the few dies. whats your setup playing this? i'm guessing you have a button for dash rather than double tapping?
A has always been the dash button. double tapping forward is just another way to do it.
Is there a major speed difference between English and Japanese versions? It seems like some text screens might be shorter in this version.
Do you happen to know if the 'dash-shoot' attack bonus applies in the Mega Man X Collection versions on the PS2?
hey got a tip for you. Die twice in the opening stage so when you get the boot in cp stage you can die and come back to get heart and complete lvl with fire
You can do it in the English version too. All you have to do is not touch the floor in the previous room.
This... is... amazing!
Did you use a turbo controller for it? The shots are unbelievable
Eduardo Teixeira Lupatini no he uses snes controller
José Eduardo Pimentel e Silva no because he used y to skip run
This is unbelievable.
so was the dying before getting hadoken really necessary cause that added some unneeded time
This guy probably calculated all the stages and stuff (he grabbed so perfectly with the boomer kuwanger weapon)
In the SNES version, does the Dr. Light X-Buster upgrade out damage Zero's? I know it does in the PSP version
They deal the same amount.
Im new at this game and HOW do you get out of the big mashy thingy in chilley penguin?
OK... Does anyone else notice that Sigma's beast-mech thing (appears around 36:23) looks a LOT like Majora's mask?
Looks like you used a game genie or pro action replay to fire that fast.
Well done.
the startup and title screen are not included in timing
For this being the fastest way you sure avoided using the flame mammoth short cut
Redawesome10 the even badder badass i did better lol
In the beginning u can ride the car and get slightly ahead :P
What do you think is the hardest boss?
Launcher Octopus?
