Holy crap stop comparing Aaron to Adam. Aaron put his own twist to the character making roger his own. He is original. In my opinion, Aaron did amazing in this! STOP COMPARING AND ENJOY PURE TALENT
Adam Pascal is without a doubt my favorite Roger but Aaron is a close 2nd. It's just that Adam Pascal IS Roger...the role was created for him but Aaron still does a fantastic job.
Will Chase is my personal favorite with Aaron coming in second and Adam coming in third. I think that Roger is a role whose characterization can be greatly altered depending on the performer and I prefer the energy that Will brought to the character. You should check him out, he’s great!
1:58 Deep..blue...eyes. 2:37 "...with a smile so white and winning all the way." 2:42 That riff on "Find". AARON KYLE TVEIT IS COMPLETE AND UTTER PERFECTION!!!!!
Ok he's my favorite Roger now. No other Roger has made me fully understand how he feels and yet still have the character remain mysterious. And no other Roger has made me sympathize with the character as much.
Well it's not a pop sound. Vanessa has a pop sound. Aaron has been in rock musicals before. His voice is just smoother than Adam's was. Both do a great Roger and both can be rock stars as is obvious by just watching this.
Aaron Tveit actually has to be my favorite Roger. I liked Adam too don't get me wrong. But the thing with Aaron in this role, you can just hear and see the amount of power and emotion that he puts into his voice and those beautiful blue eyes. A lot of people think his voice isn't made for the role but I honestly think that's what puts more emotion into his character. He's just that perfect ❤️
Apart from his attractiveness, have any of you ever considered his acting abilities? Here he's playing Roger and I don't know if any of you noticed but he was tearing up. Just after he began singing. He did that to show Roger's insecurities about dying from HIV/AIDS. Roger is scared, not only scared but petrified because he's only got so long left on earth before "the virus takes over". So he wants to leave his mark by finding/writing a song to bring him glory, to bring him at peace before --
I did notice that. I know it’s 9 years since your comment, but I’m just discovering him for the first time. Just watched him sing this live for something else, and he teared up for that one too. Omg, true talent. He’s just phenomenal.
@@paragoddess6253 I do too. He keeps doing concerts and shows in my area but I keep missing him. I hope he comes back to Massachusetts soon. Or better yet, to the Broadway stage. I hope it isn’t another 8 years before we have him back on Broadway.
I love how he made it his own, it wasn't just a carbon copy of the OBC version, it was him owning the song and making it just as awesome as the original but in a totally different way.
I've been trying to find Aaron's flaws... and they literally do not exist. When he sings, he never misses a note, it's flawless. His acting is powerful and believable. I'm done, wow.
His eyes look so blue because they're watery- he's tearing up the whole time. Aaron is such a talented actor and he portrayed Roger very well. I love him so much, and yes, he so attractive and gifted I cry about it some times.
I have seen RENT over 100 times when I lived/worked in NYC. I saw the entire original cast as well as the cast out here in Los Angeles. Aaron, by FAR is THE best Roger I have ever seen do this part. The entire cast of the show was stunning (sans Benny). This was one of the best peices of live theatre I have ever seen. Thank you Beloved, for allowing me to share this with people who weren't able to make this epic event!
Just a general note, just because actors don't stop to sign autographs at stage door doesn't mean they're a jerk. They just have other things to do. I'm totally shocked that anyone would say Aaron's arrogant or a jerk. All of the times I've met him at stage door he was a total sweetheart and very humble. Just saying.
--he dies, to show that existence wasn't a "wasted opportunity". You got to give to Aaron, he managed to show that in a 3-4 minute song. Now that's talent.
Aaron was a mere babe in the woods when this was posted. It takes true life pain to sing with heartbreak. He rocked this performance and will hopefully never know hurt.
Oh, we've considered it, don't worry :) I think I can speak for all of us when I say there's nothing, absolutely nothing we don't love about Aaron. His voice, his acting ability, the emotion and the uniqueness he brings into his every role, his love for what he does, his hard work and his humbleness - and, of course, his undeniable hotness, but that's really more of a bonus. So, yeah, don't worry about us not fully appreciating him. The man's perfect for god's sake. It's kinda hard to miss :)
@jaszon29 i just tear up from hearing the words, it's not the actor alone that makes the song. it's the chords and rhythm and beat, and the voice, but most importantly,it's the message the song gives
I only knew him as Enjolras in the LES MIS movie, but I'm a fan of musicals in general. And after watching and listening to this? I'm definiitely won over as a fan, but not reallly surprised. He is clearly very talented, and then some.
@Darkort Oh, totes agree he gave "Roger" a new swing, but it was representative of a completely different character. I had the privilege of meeting Jonathan Larson in New York about eight months before he passed away in 1996. He was ill, I had just recovered from a serious illness, and I was only a sophomore in high school. The one big thing I remember talking to him about was how he connected to the characters as he had created them, so when I see all this acting license to do whatever to...
wow his arms are pretty incredible....also his face...and his voice...and everything
Let's face it. He's flawless.
never knew that man was hiding that under those clothes
Everyone's talking about Enjorlas and I'm over here like GABBE! YOU'RE ALIVE!
Both, both is good...
Ava Stovall DONT, I will cry
He’s alive, he is so alive
Notforlong
is enjolras going through his punk phase
Yeah right after his cowboy phase. If you get that (this goes to anyone) you're awesome
I read the book Enjolras was way punk.
Arguably his only phase bc does it get more punk than trying to overthrow the government?
Hahahaha

Holy crap stop comparing Aaron to Adam. Aaron put his own twist to the character making roger his own. He is original. In my opinion, Aaron did amazing in this! STOP COMPARING AND ENJOY PURE TALENT
What I like about Aaron’s take on the character is that you can see the internal fear he has. His days are numbered and he’s so young
HE IS THE REASON WHY TANK-TOP WAS INVENTED
Adam Pascal is without a doubt my favorite Roger but Aaron is a close 2nd. It's just that Adam Pascal IS Roger...the role was created for him but Aaron still does a fantastic job.
Aaron's performance is an interpretation or variation, not a replacement for the original.

Emma Mueller roger is a rocker not a pop singer. Adam has a grunge rock voice and it fits his character. This is a pop sound in a rock opera.

he sings so well and with so much passion

Aron is definitely the man. A young Roger, but what a voice!
Boy has the voice of an angel, Roger is a rocker tho
meeting this guy- is my dream. I love him so much and just watching this makes me want to watch the whole show!
it is an unspoken rule of musical theater that Aaron must ALWAYS be in everything.

There are no words to describe the beauty I just witnessed!
im not crying i just have aaron tveit covered in tattoos singing in my eyes
Aaron Tveit is the love my life 😍
Me too
😀
I gotta say, Adam Pascal is my favorite in this role, but I never get tired of seeing Aaron perform. He puts so much emotion in every song
I like his black nail polish lol
This is amazing. ❤️
You can see it all on his face. Amazing performance!

How can someone who has the best voice to ever play Roger not do a good job on this song? I think his voice is too pure.
I f*cking LOVE the reverb you hear after he sings "life" in the first verse. It probably wasn't intentional given the space, but it gave me chills.
absolute love :-)
of all 3 times I saw it on Broadway Roger never cried during this song. is it just me or is he teary?
The pants. The eyeliner. The tattoos. I can't even handle it!
those pants are glorious ;)
I'm in love 🤩💞 with this guy, so talented and handsome, great body, who is he
Aaron Tveit he's play the role of christian in moulin rouge
I love that his nails are painted for this
Think Aaron was a great choice. Different to other Rogers, interesting & exciting change.

I feel like “beautiful” is a grossly overused word but it’s the only word that comes close to describing Aaron Tveit
More like unworldly
More commonly used for angels sent from heaven
sooo handsome and an amazing Enjolras. I wish I got to see him as Roger! I'm a big Rent fan
Everything: GORGEOUS 😍
Also, the arms. The voice (a given), and THAT SCRUFF. *dies*
