I don’t know where you seen the spoon thing but there is no logic in that. In fact I would think you turn the spoon into a heater after pouring the hot coffee. You should pour your milk into your coffee first and then put ice. The milk will cool off the coffee and it won’t melt the ice as much. This also helps not shock the coffee as badly.
