    TO ALL:
    Due to the holidays and it's effect on the fight against claims being put on the edits, the given release date for TH-cam in the first minute of the edit is wrong. Gateverse Year 9 (SG-1 Season 9 & Atlantis Season 2) will now start on TH-cam on the 21st of February. (NOT. the 14th!)
    The 21st of February the following 2 edits will be posted (in this order!):
    Stargate Atlantis 2x01
    Stargate SG-1 9x01
    If you'd like to know what's coming next to TH-cam, check the schedule on our site by clicking the following link:

    Remember that while O’Neill is a General he still has superiors that he answers to who probably told him to send Colonel Everett also remember not many high ranking officers respect or like Shepherd

      Also O'Neill is the COMMANDER of the SGC; not the leader of SG-1. That job belongs to Carter. Although given what the team has been through I doubt they act in such a way. I mean I'm certain they all just work extremely well together no matter what. But "on paper" officially. Carter is the Leader of SG-1. Why else did we never see Hammond leave the base except on extremely Rare conditions?? It's because there needs to be a Command Leadership in place. If O'Neill left the SGC, who would be in charge?? Walter?? Syler?? They are NOT quite qualified for that. They are both not even Officers in the Air Force. Other than Carter I think there only two other Colonel's at the SGC. The team leaders of SG's-2 & 3 respectively. I know for a fact that SG-3 is a Marines Unit.

    I'd say Colonel 'Vengeance for Sumner' Everret probably pulled some strings to get the assignment
    Plus, if you're looking for someone to fight a pitched battle for four days straight, he does seem angry enough to go the distance

    "This looks like a way bigger battle than the Antarctica one"
    Well yeah, it sorta is. Anubis deployed a lot of his ships and the gliders and alkesh that came in to attack SG1 there weren't even nearly as large of a force as 2 Hive ships with thousands of darts. Plus Anubis didn't really know the defensive capabilities of Earth and he was keeping most of his forces in reserve so he would be able to run if the attack failed and SG1 did in fact discover the ancient outpost. The Wraith know what Atlantis is capable of and are probing to see how much the expedition was able to get up an running. The satellite taking out one of their ships was something they weren't expecting. If that happened, what if they also have shields and drones at their disposal? So they deployed a lot of their darts to find out.

    You may not like Colonel Everret but from a military point of view he is exceptional and he was vital for the successful defence. In addition, Sheppard was insubordinate as was Weir. In less than a week Everret turned the place into a fortress and dealt with the defeatest elements of the Atlantis expedition. In a crisis like the one they faced, it was essential to have a clear and decisive chain of command something Weir was not capable of providing and neither was Shepherd. Shephard is a nice guy but he is a bad military officer.

    There are two (well probably more, but let's go with two) attitudes among the military. One is top down, all the decisions made at the top, colonels and generals, and the lower ranks follow, the officers guiding the enlisted ranks to make sure the orders from the top are carried out properly. This allows for little independent thinking among the lower ranks, but it makes for a reliable, well-oiled machine able to put together and carry out large-scale plans. The other attitude does allow the lower ranks and small groups to work independently of the upper levels. This is good for small, quick operations, but jeopardize the large, complicated ones that need a lot of coordination. I would hope that any real military uses a combination of the two, as each has its place.
    Atlantis, having been without a colonel since the pilot, got used to independent thinking. The colonel, putting together a large operation in great haste, needs to set the chain of command the way he's used to, orders carried out without question because there's not enough time to discuss each decision. He's abrasive, but that manner has worked for him, in the past, whether on Earth or (as he's part of Stargate Command) other planets (though unseen in SG1). It takes a few minutes -- and failures -- as he learns the value of the input from the Atlantis team. So O'Neill likely sent him because he's been successful in the past, but he had imperfect information about the Atlantis humans attitude and how ready Weir and Sheppard were to support him.

    where you said about the guys audio there was an issue with original audio so he had to re do all the lines and they had to dub them in thats why it sounds off

      @dustinowens9552 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yeah it was explained by the producers that all the motorized carts that were used for the cargo over powered the audio. So they had to redo it all in ADR post. Also the producers said in this ep they had to put a notice out to the area around the studio they would be firing a lot machines guns for the air raid scenes. And they only had a certain time window to film those parts.

    You need current intelligence to be in a good tactical position. The first thing that guy should have said can be summed up in one word "report!" Tell us:a) is your situation still the same? b) Will what we're about to do still work in the current circumstances? or are there suddenly 7 Hive ships. Did you find another option in the meantime. Is it maybe already too late and the self destuct countdown ccan't be stopped for some reason and we need to hightail it out of here?

    Except "that one guy" (I assume you mean Bates), DOES respect Dr, Weir. It's Shepard he doesn't like; because Shepard keeps getting in his way of Atlantis security, by overruling him regarding unnecessarily strict restrictions on the Athosians. Bates IS a bit of a dick, but he certainly respects Dr. Weir.

    • @shadowphoenix1696
      @shadowphoenix1696 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont know if i say his strict restrictions are unnecessary. He does have good points for them and Shepherd seems to listen to Bates when he not appling his restrictions to his team.
      Seems like Shepherd allowing his personal feelings get in the way.
      Granted Bates doesn't help himself by being a dick about it. But still, he did have good points.

Close your eyes and ignore the visual and you can hear and understand him just fine. I think anyway. Its the watching him speak that throws you off.

    Of course Shan, you are purposefully ignoring that he's ONLY "snooty" to Shepard. I get that you like Shepard, but remember the characters don't KNOW what WE know. You cannot expect the characters to react to someone the same way YOU (as an audience member) do. Shepard - as far as everyone on Earth is concerned - is an insubordinate, defiant, poor excuse for a soldier and does NOT deserve his rank and privilege.
    You reacted the same way when Robbie's brother told Daisy to leave his brother alone; except you were actually really Pissed at that one. lol. Robbie's brother had ZERO way to know that S.H.I.E.L.D. were using propaganda to smoke Daisy out of hiding. How could he?? He doesn't know anything about political duplicity; he's just a kid. What he knows - because it's been all over EVERY news channel - is that Daisy/Quake is a terrorist. So asking her to leave his brother alone is perfectly logical.
    Colonel Everett knows only that Shepard was THERE when Colonel Sumner died. He holds Shepard responsible, because it fits with the record of Shepard's profile that is readily available back on Earth. No one on Earth knows what Shepard ahs done since the expedition team got to Atlantis. At least not in any detail. All they have are mission reports. Those don't convey personal thoughts or feelings; they're not supposed to.

    • @patrickcromwell7554
      @patrickcromwell7554 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AfterShowReactions Perhaps. But let's not pretend that the main characters are 100% flawless and perfect and can't make mistakes. Daisy had made MANY mistakes at that point. Also main character or not, one does not come uninvited into someone else's home and start dictating terms; about anything. That's just how things work. Just because she's Daisy, that doesn't entitle her to automatically get someone's help"just because". She has to EARN that.

    • @AfterShowReactions
      @AfterShowReactions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Of course they're not flawless, that's what makes them entertaining to watch and perhaps root for. But they are also just characters and it's not real life. Characters can go into someone else's house uninvited (if they're not a vampire) and I will continue to root for them instead of the unimportant one off that lives there if I like the character. It doesn't mean I'd do the same thing if it was real life. Which many people for some reason make the mistake of judging me for. I like who I like in a tv show and I won't apologize for that.
