All 3 of these basses were designed by Leo Fender. RIP.

Used to be a die hard jazz guy, but lately these P's sounding rad
Same here
p bass player gets the ladies
Yup same here, I've gotten a little tired of the same jazz bass sound I always get, I've recently realized that there's a reason a lot of studio musicians and pros choose P basses 👌🏼
I was thinking the same
Tools my friends. Favorites are not only limiting, they are impractical as well.
I'm a p bass fan but this video made me want a stingray. That tone is just so clear
Same stingray just sounded so good to me
Isn't that a ray4?
@@user-nu9rd1wm2klooks like one, judging by the bridge
@@user-nu9rd1wm2kyes sterling ray 4. I have one myself
to my ear, Stingray sounds best when played solo or with just drums. But for most genres, the Precision sits best in the mix
This is the only #short that has ever been worth watching.
no
Pretty much
Clearly, one of each. No question. :)
Why does that P bass sound so good? I normally lean towards the Stingray, but that's one great sounding P bass.
Quarter pounders?
There are too many variables here. Firstly, the sound is distorted on each bass/overdriven. You can always use so many combinations of pickup blend/select as well. You can tweak each bass to sound as amazing as you wish :)
All sounded great. StingRay for me. Can't really go wrong with any of these options though.
Most basses these days are pretty dang good. We live in a golden era, especially for cheap instruments.
@@ampthebassplayer couldn't agree more
It sounds too much scooped in my opinion.
precision
I’ve always love the Jazz bass….
the others may sound better isolated to most people just the J bass cuts through the mix
You didn't slap the J when you did the others. Seemed like the bridge p-up was off.
Stingray seemed badly EQ'd.
P- bass sounded best here. And almost always sounds good regardless of EQ.
Spot on, terrible representation for the j- bass basic tone lol
@@cacaman17 - It's not a bad representation if, like me, you use the neck pickup only most of the time....
@@theroadhogs6227bridge pickup is secret weapon with neck pickup
@@kamilbass - depends what you want. I sometimes use both, sometimes neck only
I thought that was odd too that he didn't slap on a jazz but he did the other 2 - still a great video and has value. Would love to see what settings on both the bass(es) and the amp were, along w/info on the strings (type, age, brand, gauge, etc)...the variability that differing strings bring to bear constitute a major determinant of the total outcome(s)
Jazz for sure
Love the P bass in any genre. But the Ray sounded great too.
From what I hear, the p bass really shines where it fits in the mix. Other basses may sound good on their own, but the p bass has the right sonic frequency to just slide in perfectly between the other instruments.
Very cool, thank you for this. Straight and to the point. These three models deserve and should be together in a quick "short" video like this.
If I was able to make a video, sorry guys don't have the money, I would do a staggered comparison video just like this with three popular "neck-thru" models such as the Rickenbacker 4003, Gibson Thunderbird, and a Spector NS-2. These three here are the most significant though.
After many years of playing high end fretless basses, I'm back to playing jazz and precision fretless basses. No nonsense and tones for days. Never had the chance to play a MusicMan, but really dig the tone of them.
Yes, 100%. I don't know what it is but even high-end Fender replicas just don't have that sound even a cheap MIJ has.
@@vinigretzky97 yep. I have a MIJ natural finish ash body/rosewood fretless I got for 1k and all my friends who have MIA and play it always want to buy it off me.
@@wren23_bass-synths Nice. 90s or 00s?
@@vinigretzky97 94-95 is the date code.
Precision!!
Musicman hands down
Was it just me or did the jazz bass sound like only the neck pickup was on? 🤔
As much as i love 'em, I've heard p basses and jazz basses so much that i naturally gravitate towards the stingray
P bass goes hard man I vastly prefer them for any genre. Simple and versatile
Me too
P bass is the king of pop music of all the times. Its almost in our ears DNA.
Jazz, especially 3 color burst, always has ALL the mojo.
Precision is life!
The p-bass always goes funky and rad
woah the stingray sounds so smooth
Stingray might sound with low output but sound most balanced and toned.....
Los graves del Stingray rompen paredes. Alucinante
All 3 are perfect basses
I love all of them
That p bass thud though
I couldn't decide so I own multiples of all 3.
can i have one😭
@@akolangi2 sure $2000.00 plus shipping.
im from philippines
@@akolangi2 well shipping is going to be a bitch from USA
Slappa da jazzzzzz
Stingray!
All 3 every day
One of each is the best way to go.
Had the same technique used on the jazz with the thumb, it might be very different
StingRay dude. So clean on the slides
Love the P-Bass tone
All of them!!!
precision!!!
Jazz All Day
I have an PJ Bass with a Precision Body and Neck plus a Jazz Pickup.
Precision all Day!
I love them all 🤷🏻♂️🙃 any well rounded arsenal needs one of each ❤
That stingray sounds smooth AF, but I do have a soft spot for P’s.
Rickenbacker 4001
ALL 3
Jazz bass with all maple neck plz
Stingray than Jazz, I just love the Ray
I guess I’m just weird but my go to is either my piss yellow steinberger or my Ernie ball music man stingray. They just feel so good and the tone is immaculate
Agreed. It’s either my L2 or my stingray!!
I like the clarity of a jazz bass
Stingray, All Day!! LOL
Jazz!
Simply because the neck pickup is close to the sound of the P, ut it also has a bridge pickup, that can be made sound like the humbucker bass, by just adding some neck pickup volume and low end.
It's much easier to add low end to a Jazz or P, than to add brightness to a humbucker. The humbucker sounds like crap for slapping.
The Jazz is the most versatile.
Good luck with the hum though...
@@CamiloPefaur most modern jazz basses have their pickups wound in a humbucker (noise canceling) way.
Precision bass ❤
Fender Jazz forever!🔥❤️👍
dang that P bass sounded pretty good. I think if you can only have one it should be a p bass.
That humbucker sounds good
Stingray 😩
I want to learn this little riff thing
Yes.
Jazz bass
Jazz forever ))
I have all except Stingray
Im a guitar player but if i ever Will need a bass for my home recording sessions i Will go with the P-Bass because its just Sits well in the mix and its very simple
I actually want all 3 of them now lol
Precision
Stingray all the way, that sound is just beautiful
I love jazz
RICKENBACKER!
Why you did not slap on the jazz bass?
Yeah I'm convinced they're trolling, not slapping the most slappable of the 3.
Bro did not give justice to the jazz bass tond
Why not just buy all three? They all sound terrific.
Problema é ter dinheiro pra comprar os três
The Stingray blows the other away!!
the answer is i need all 3
P-Bass gets you in the groin for this kind of stuff
¿Por qué no los tres?
Precisión
Clearly you must own all three
Stringray and Jazz for me... which Is why I own them
P has the sound. Jazz has that neck. Stingray has a tail.
doesn't sound like he used the bridge pickup in the jazz bass, at least not fully opened.
I want that stingray
I have the exact same stingray
Jazz!!
I'm digging the stingray but I think presicion would be more fun to play.
P Bass for me cause it can get any job done. Jazz, rock, metal etc. You name in the P Bass can do it.
I’ll go with the jazz 🤠
i think jackson
Los tres son lo mejor unos grandes Bajos yeah 😎🤘
I have a PJ bass and I love it but dang that stingray tone thiccc
Jazz bass for me
Jazz bass for me.
Started on a P and will probably never make a switch
For this example the pbass, then the Jbass and stingray last
The hand positioning got closer to the bridge every time.
Different behs for different things
Мне ещё мустанг нравится :)
P Bass is the only bass i Will ever need
jazz
Jazz !
Is the Jazz played with just the neck pickup on?
