The show is based on Charlie's life. It was pitched to the studio that way. For people like me who cherish dvds, season 1 extras includes everything about how the show came to be. Also, Jon Cryer wasn't wanted by the network but won them over.

The show was good with Kutcher, it's not like that it was that bad. Kutcher did well but won't replace Charlie for sure. Charlie was exceptional.
