Incredible band. I was able to see them on one of their first "reunion" tours prob 20 or so years ago. They were amazing. Their over the top glam/aristocrat type look really held them back in the grunge 90s but Saturation still is a top 10 90s album in my rotation since that time and still holds up. I believe they opened for Nirvana on the Nevermind tour. A band that sadly never got their due.
The song finally kicks into gear @ 2:24 when Eddie solos and opens his mouth to sing the bridge. It kicks Nash out of his middling stupor and his vocals finally get right on the money. What a finish. Nash was the head but, Eddie was the heart.
D65 lol got fired in the airport. My fave Treece tour lines: when offered coconut milk "I don't drink milk." and when jacking off inevitably came up: "I don't touch myself." Me: "How do you get it out to piss?" Treece: "I pull my pants down." There were already three raging egos in that band. The refusal to shirt up on the European tour, the food demands, dragging girls around, fucking with Blackie's drum tuning, sheesh. Buh bye. "Fever" Evers had him beat in all categories as a musician and a nice human being.
all i had to think about in 93 was not having enough cash (wasn’t as bigger deal as today) and what else was coming down the well oils music pipeline….i’d still go back to live it again…
Bro, I remember back in the early 90’s that if you didn’t know UO and didn’t have Americruiser, you weren’t in the know. But then after “The SS” when ‘Saturation’ came out, if you didn’t fall in line and give these guys the respect they deserved, you were straight up lame. These guys were tearing it up for years on the club circuit & deserved every ounce of credit, success, and respect that Saturation gave them. I still know people who go: UO who? And that’s when I stop talking.
You may call it over-produced, but no it wasn’t. It was nice and big and polished-sounding, but everything was mixed perfectly and sits right where it needs to and it all jumps out at you. It’s very produced because they wanted it to sound that way.
Interesting lineup: looks like original bass player Eddie is playing guitar here. I wonder if its because the song has more guitar parts than can be played live by one guy?
Cool band and a excellent tune, but what a terrible mix! Seriously - the sound on this recording sucks. It even sounds like one of the guitars isn't completely in tune.
I've seen way worse and experienced it just as local yocal but man people can be merciless critics. Nothing worse being in any band and having a sound or mixing fiasco during a performance. "You guys suck" lol
Honestly, this sounds pretty great for a late night TV mix. The vocals are kind of in a weird place but everything else sounds suitably raw - unusual for TV where they usually bury them.
i bought this record back in 93. to be honest they sound goofy as hell now. the guy can't sing so they raise is mic level to 10x what it should be----which makes all of the music sound SMALL and compact. A very weird sound. This sounded good in 93, but it sounds horrible now.
One the best songs and CDs of the ‘90s. I loved their look and attitude.
Saturation could be the most underrated album of all time!
If you ain't still listening to urge Overkill in 2023 you're missing out
You got that right! 🥃🍻😁
On what?
Life was so much easier in 93. Love these guys.
No backing tracks. No lip synching. Just live, loud and real.
Autotune...
uhh.....yea most bands don't have those. LOL
Yes live singing maybe, playing to recorded music.
Blackie gave a complete masterclass on rock drumming from beginning to end on Saturation. Dude is a straight-up killer
Those Gibsons are amazing looking also
Better than the Jaguar dude ya
he was a beast... and so much moxie...
Too bad the camera crew didn't get it.
It was mostly Andy Kravitz on drums in the studio for Saturation and Exit the Dragon. Blackie’s style doesn’t match the album recordings.
One of the coolest songs in the 90s

Their tone is kicking. Saw these guys on this tour in Toledo. Hung out backstage. Great guys and great band!
I am jelly! They are awesome
You’re not kidding. I can see they’re travelling with Boogie Rec’s. Not sure what was used in studio, but that tone slays as wellz
Kids that's what good music sounds like without playback. Long live the 90s
I like that Ticket to LA intro at the beginning before going into the song.
Man Blackie Onassis! Hell of a drummer
A great rocking band. Sounds great live. New record awaits. Feud is over for some time.
Rip blackie . UO rocked 😊
i loved always the vocals in two voices of U. O.
Beautiful performance.
I’d love to see this band again
Top performance...shame it's not louder!
Get a more powerful amplifier. Mine rocks!
The song finally kicks into gear @ 2:24 when Eddie solos and opens his mouth to sing the bridge. It kicks Nash out of his middling stupor and his vocals finally get right on the money. What a finish. Nash was the head but, Eddie was the heart.
Your description of this performance is right on.
lespaulfanofsparta Agree 100%, great call on a great band
I had to watch it again when your comment pulled me back. Eddie is so into it he slips on his cord @ 4:00 and almost crashes into his amp.
Ed would play all the parts on this if he could.
Perfect call.
No backing tracks or pitch correctors here.....ENORMOuSLY underated band....
Just singing to recording.
A real diamond in the rough, nobody under the age of 37 has ever heard of Urge Overkill, unless they’ve talked to me & been educated😎 GREAT SONG
That drummer is really going apeshit on the drums..
or me
Under 37? Just picking random ages out of thin air now huh? It's bad enough when people say "Under 30" or "Under 35" but this is the most ridiculous.
@@gamma21285 they do not know of what they speak.
@@dickvandickweed clearly
Still slays, always will. UO!
Blake is such an amazing drummer!!love this band🤘🍄
BLACKIE is dead.
Great drummer...!
@@TheRealMrLofasz Hi, What's become of Blackie since these days? A damn fine drummer, is he still playing?

Such a kick ass riff!
Nash Kato ..brilliant...the last great great rock band..where are you now? Come back!
Camera man misses best drum parts again
Blackie O!!!Awesome drummer!!
Come around to my way of thinking
Woman 2 Woman!!!
Attitude!
I swear I would have recorded this if only I knew UO made this appearance at the time!
Chuck Treece on bass!

Christopher Walken can ROCK OUT
all i had to think about in 93 was not having enough cash (wasn’t as bigger deal as today) and what else was coming down the well oils music pipeline….i’d still go back to live it again…
very nice music
The lead singer is Christopher Walken's doppleganger.
super band
RIP Johnny. "Blackie".
Heartbreaking.
RIP, Blackie...
So cool
Medallions!
kick ass band
RIP Blackie…
wow, what a riff...!

It needs more cowbell!
I miss'93......
The huge "UO" medallion hanging off of all of them. - LOL :-)
I imagine it was funny to them - like the Flying Burritos and their Nudie suits.
Gold "UO" cufflinks as well. :-)
Is that Chuck Treece on bass?
pretty sure it is
back when Conan was cool!
Blackie attacking those drums!
hell yes!!!!!
Christopher walken
Cow bell baby!
SOOOOOOOO Blazed!!!
The second CD I ever bought.
When will young people appreciate this rock and roll art and pick up screaming GUITAR’s again ????
What was that intro they started then abandoned with Nash's intervention at the top ?
their early hit TICKET TO L.A.
Excellennce
Love it, ya found your calling old mate
They expanded to a quartet!
twas chuck treese who did not jive with the UO and parted ways soon after

Dual Rectifier cranked the fuck up!!!!!!!
played the sh*t out of this album
Does anyone know what became of Blackie Onassis after leaving the band?
@@TheLarryburns84 Then he died.
Nash trying to seduce the camera, LOL.
forgot how good they were.
I miss Mr. BLACKIE.
Wow, Blackie was savage!
The production on this record was a nuclear bomb in the Loudness Wars.

@ Read it again. Never said, “over produced.” Then google “loudness wars.”
Missed the note at 3:25. Still great.
Backie Onasis.
Marcus Miller on bass?
They could have placed the lead singer's microphone stand more towards the center of the stage so the bass player didn't have to stand in the back.
You gonna be ok? You need your woobie?
Interesting lineup: looks like original bass player Eddie is playing guitar here. I wonder if its because the song has more guitar parts than can be played live by one guy?

Who else is here because of the bad news ?
I think that first 10 seconds was a nod to Elvis C / Attractions SNL (?) Nash Kato is Rose McGowan's brother... or cousin... well, maybe not anymore
IT is TICKET TO L.A.
Rip blackie
