    Fun fact: in the original hamlet plays, the ghost of hamlet's father was supposed to arrive in armor, but shakespeare didn't realize how loud plate armor was, and the sheer noise caused the audience to break out in laughter at the awkward situation. One thing that most people don't get is that plate armor suits like these were meticulously crafted by the best armorers in Europe. If you were rich enough to afford one of these, you likely had it shipped from somewhere like Milan and that armorer was like a tailor, crafting every piece to perfectly suit your body shape. Therefore, it actually offers more mobility than some less protective or cheaper types of armor you could wear.

    OK so I've recently come to see that this is nowhere near the limits of full plate people really do be nearly sprinting at each other whacking one another with pole arms and it is a sight to behold full plate seems to have been nerf'd by schools cuz we never got told full plate moves like that

      Yeah, the real barrier to using plate wasn't weight or speed, unlike in video games that need to be balanced, it was the vast expense of getting armour made to measure. Riveting some steel plates to your jacket? That's doable. Fully articulated armour that doesn't pinch, tug, scrape and lock up? That takes a really good armoursmith a very long time, and a not insignificant amount of iron and coal.

    Is there a chance you can make a list of all the items used here?

    • @catsandswords
      @catsandswords  5 ปีที่แล้ว +710

      Good eye!
      Lord of Battles arming doublet-- deconstructed, patterned, quilted, and rebuilt with upholstery thread
      Lord Of Battles cuirass, Marshal Historical leg harness, Marshal Historical pauldrons, Windlass rerebraces and couters (discontinued. I also ommitted the vambraces in favor of pointing the long cuff of the gauntlet to the doublet).
      Deepeeka sallet in 16g paired with a Lord of Battles articulated bevor.
      Gauntlets were bought from Darksword Armory a few years ago when they were on sale for half off. Would not recommend paying full price. I believe there's a mostly-identical set from India kicking around somewhere for much cheaper.
      All of these things have been heavily modified and worked to fit. if you go back between about this time last year and this past April I have a long slew of posts on my Instagram about it ( @catsandswords )

    But by powering itself, therefore even at the end of humanity, he would still be going. Through the wasteland of the past world, a cockroach crawls through the destroyed remains of a McDonalds, when suddenly it hears a ghostly echo; “Slide to the left, Slide to the right, freeze! Everybody clap you hands!” The robot knows what it is doing, but it knows it can not stop. He dances for he is afraid of not only the darkness that will take him, but the silence that will follow….
