- Hey Guardians! Today we discuss the lore behind the Presage exotic question mission in Destiny 2's Season Of The Chosen. We will explain what happened to this ship when it met the darkness in space, what Calus was doing with the scorn onboard and the events that went down before Katabasis (the guardian trapped onboard) sent the distress signal out into the system.

Not gonna lie I was scared the whole 1st playthrough of this mission..... I got Dead Space vibes from it
I don't see the horror aspect in this mission. I don't play it anymore but to compare it to the horror of Dead Space is a bit much. It's just scorn on an abandoned ship, not necromorphs

The Darkness terraforms just as the Traveler does, except instead of creating lush paradises, it creates corrupted hellish landscapes. The way this darkness weed grows and consumes, I would imagine it's foreshadowing what's happening to the lost planets. I expect Mars, Titan, Io and Mercury to return someday and they'll be twisted, grotesque worlds where only the strongest survive.

I find it interesting that the Darkness strung the guardian up like Siva did. Maybe a hint for the next ability or maybe just a crackpot theory.
Definitely not a crackpot theory that’s something bungie would do forsure now whether it’s a full blown super or just a weapon like outbreak perfected we’ll see but like I said I definitely don’t think that’s a crackpot theory.

I think the fact that it said “steal” instead of “collect” like it usually does will have some sort of impact on the story.
I thought that was an interesting tidbit as well, I don’t remember “stealing” anything as an action to collect something

This is probably one of the saddest missions (besides cayde’s mission) I’ve ever played. When I got into the mission I was genuinely hoping that I would save them but seeing the guardian strung up at the end and hearing about how the ghost wanted to give up made me feel sad for them.

We kinda did with Saint-14... that mission where he is holding his bubble and we fight off the Fallen (gave him his shotgun at the end of the mission)!!!
But I know what you mean.... have missions where Guardians (as AI’s) are helping us or we saving them!!! Something like GTA or Anthem

Cayde got stuck in a vex time loop.. Literally time death.. But we saved him and it was referenced two or three times after.
Also Orsiris was save too multiple times
are we going to have fungus versions of the flood in Destiny because this sounds like a classic flood infection one thing talking with a million voices

I'm just hoping the next darkness subclass has to do with tangling them or setting traps with these plants, and hopefully one melee ability is to pull them in

I think if they went and did a Scorn season they should be corrupted by the darkness/Crown of Sorrow like in the Presage with the Locus of Communion that's just my opinion

SIVA is just highly advanced nanotechnology. It is awesome. But in the context of the storyline. Especially concerning the Darkness. SIVA would not be game changing for us. You have to realize the Darkness is paracasual. Its power and existence goes beyond thermodynamics.
@@empyrean196 If SIVA is brought back its probably going to be upgraded to the point where it can rival stasis ( if brought back as a subclass), just like what they did with outbreak perfected I still dont think we perfected or mastered SIVA yet neither did the fallen so there is like I say 60% chance we might be able to see SIVA again.
@@inverted_spaces7689 It is a possibility, considering Ana Bray is trying to rebuild Rasputin in a EXO body. So I wouldn't count SIVA out as a potential new subclass.

This mission finally gave us a true horror story in the Destiny universe. Sure there has always been elements of it but they’ve never successfully made it into a mission.

this whole mission at the beginning feels like the star wars republic commando quest where you do kinda the same thing but this is darker and i love it.
this whole mission reminds me of the time in star wars comics there was a ship floating in space and it ended up having zombies
Right at the very beginning when you're making your way through the vents after the first egregore link, there's a door on the ground, one you walk over. I imagine that might be a new area in the harder difficulty version of this mission.

What about the calus heads?? There’s a few around the map most notably just before you drop to that room with the dead guardian it is tucked behind some boxes the same calus heads that started encounters in the menagerie
My guess is they're switches and we'll need to find and activate all of them to open the doors under the dead guardian to see the crown of sorrow
That is one of the clue you can scan this week

This was my favorite mission in all of destiny 2!! Future missions like this needs to happen...destiny would reach a whole new level!
I think what I like the most about this is that, IMO this mission reveals the true side of Callus. No more opulent facade.

Me and my friend found the dead Guardian ghost but we couldn’t interact with it and, I’m with you I hope that more content down the future has us doing missions like this.

2 days ago i started solo without watching a guide video... my first impression and vibe was like i played death space. My heart was pumping tho haha it was a bit creepy and i loved the entire mission.

I had a lot of hope in this mission for a crazy scary boss or something that looked like it was infested... instead we got more scorn :(
The best part is the guardian that got killed was a blueberry with his first exotic.
No he wasn't... He ran leviathan so much he had Officer clearance for Callus's army.

This is in my top 5 of destiny missions. The boss is awesome looking and it's unique and not covered in taken. Cool story.
There’s a dead ghost on the ship but you can’t scan it unfortunately

@@Zaron77 the first time you finish the mission it mentions finding his ghost for more info. I haven't done it yet though.
@@chadrickmorgan1149 I'm p sure you can scan it the second time through. My friend ran it with me after he played it once and went back and scanned it and audio played. I forgot what was said though.
@@noshstradamus yeah I ran it again the other night with a friend and it let me scan it. I read that it will only let you scan certain things after multiple run throughs, possibly limited to so many times per week, to keep people from scanning and finding everything in just a couple runs. There are tons of stuff that look like scannables.
Didn’t it say at the end we should find his ghost to learn more about how he died maybe that’s how you get to the crown and I also think I found the ghost in the jumping puzzle just before the boss fight.
I bet that is going to have to do with the catalyst
I found it as well but i couldnt do anything with it. Its a white ghost.
Once I read the line in 4:18 I got vibes of the Mona Lisa ship from halo lore. That was scary, and this feels similar. They take a sample onboard for experimenting, but I goes wrong and spreads out of control taking over the ship
this mission has become one of my top 3 favorites in destiny, it really gives you alien/dead space vibes. Answering a distress signal from a derelict ship in the middle of nowhere.
Hearing all this lore coming together and being told makes me want to actually read the lore myself and follow along😂
i thought we were gonna see the aphelion
You can glitch outside the map (in the first room where you open the hangar. It'll be a drop down craves in the front right corner, once outside of the first initial period make your way directly to the right and glide as far out as you can until you see a loading screen, from there you'll drop and load into the second portion of the mission, from there just follow the map all the way to the end) in the mission and make your way to the final room where the guardian is. If you can get yourself under that room you'll find a room with a pile of scorn dead in front of a egg emitting a green arura, however it has already hatched. The closet comparison is similar to the Alien movie DVD cover with the Egg in front of a green glow but with scorn dead piled up in front and tentacles/flowers bracing it, they is also a bunch of feeding tubes traveling from the dead guardian into the egg.
the best activity I played, I loved it so much :)
Since I may or may not be doing this quest, this'll be worth knowing.

Rip katabasis you may not have been an ideal "protector of the last city" type of guardian but you went out doing what you thought was best making sure gilly wouldn't be let go as a pawn of the darkness.
Calling it now: Wrath is the next darkness subclass and Egregore will be the final darkness subclass in lightfall
Could have a few names blight, taint, corruption, etc but I never thought of wrath that's a good one

No the anomaly sounds like an artifact of darkness, what killed drifter's crew were beings of the darkness or akin to that.

@@Dawsonsonlifts Thats true, i read the lore cards and seems to be a byproduct of the anomaly when they perfrom their last attempt to communicate with the darkness. The anomaly is a sphere.
