    @GuyKesTV: Hi, thank you again for another great review and your the effort. What confuses me is that "bike radar" mentioned this: "Rear end isn’t the most sensitive at the start of its travel, yet lacks support later on" It seems the complete opposite of what you are reporting. I'm a bit scared to buy one blind because I live in Germany. Maybe you can dispel my doubts. I'm currently riding a Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Expert. You have ridden it too, how would you compare it. I'm also unsure in my decision if the Jeht is the right bike or the Flare Max. Thank you for your help.

    I'm in the market for a bike just like this and have been doing the usual thing of bouncing around different options - changing my mind every five minutes. I live in in Derby and regularly find myself in the Peak District so I love the idea of buying a product tested and designed in the area I do most of my riding. The bike looks ace, love the blue colour. The only thing that puts me off is the weight. I want a bike that I can throw about, climb and descend in confidence - an all rounder like the blurb suggests. How can that sweet spot be achieved if the bike is on the heavy side?

    • @harveygreensmith1875
      @harveygreensmith1875 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'll be honest, I think the weight quoted was possibly a bit high.
      My BFe Max is 13.58 kg/29.8 lb and my Rocket gen 4 14.69 kg/32.3 lb. They're both stock GX Eagle Gold builds running X-Fusion forks. Though the BFe has a Hope bar.
      My Soul gen 5 weighted 13.29 kg/29.2 lb in Gold GX Eagle, with wheel/tyre changes and dumping the dropper for carbon, and carbon bars i got her down to 11.85 kg/26.1 lb. But she wasn't as good on the rough/steep stuff.
      By comparison I weighted my Stumpy ST Carbon comp (120/120) XT in at 13.77 kg/30.3 lb.
      The latest gen SC, Ibis, Yeti, etc. All tip the scales over 30 lb, for similar builds. As a result i think Cotic are sometimes unfairly marked out for their weight. In my eyes they're close to the market leading carbon brands, yet achieve this using blacksmith's fodder.
      Mine will receive 'sensible' lightening up over time, but mainly because it's just numbers i can analyse.
      Certainly my BFe MAX is more capable than I am. It's weight provides some decent dampening when it's rough and rocky, on climbs I'm not bringing up the rear and don't notice the 3 lb 'defecit' over my Soul.
      Don't worry about the weight, I'm in Derby and will fly round a flat bridleway here, or head upto to Crich, Matlock and the Peaks and love every minute I ride Cotic bikes.

      Thanks for the reply mate. It's definitely difficult to come to a decision. So many good bikes around. Maybe I will have to do a test ride, as I haven't rode steel before. Its weird I can't find any mention of weights on their website. Not even just for the frames.

    • @CoticBikesUK
      @CoticBikesUK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I genuinely think you would struggle to find a properly capable bike, spec'd properly for reliability in the Peak District that wasn't around the same weight as the Jeht. We also take care to spec builds to make it count. The HUNT TrailWide wheels are a great weight, and the Light Slashguard WTB tyres are reliable without needing the extra weight of double ply casings. The RocketMAX was weighed in MBUKs Bike Of The Year last year and was about in the middle of the weight range for the bikes tested at 15.1kg. The carbon framed Whyte and similar priced Santa Cruz were both heavier, for example.
      When things sort themselves out a little more, we will open the Demo service again. Being so local you'd be welcome to ride our demo loop at our base in Calver when we are able to have people round again.

    • @harveygreensmith1875
      @harveygreensmith1875 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the other thing, which is a massive benefit that not many (if any) other bike brands offer, is the ability to customise your build. Well maybe Orange do to a lesser extent.
      Got your own wheels/fork? Cotic can build the bike to your spec minus the bits you've already got. Fancy a Gold GX build but with a different saddle/wheel/mudguard/whatever, Cotic can do/accomodate that, no worries.
      Plus when you're a crap rider like me and inevitably go OTB/crash, you'll be pleased you've a steel frame that just dents trees and cracks rocks!, carbon has you cringing because you know even just washing it in the wrong direction might crack it! 😂
      The beauty with steel too is, err, that is actually attractive to look at and in 20yrs time looks fantastic/classy still (thing all the steel trellis framed Italian motorbikes and the road bikes). They're bikes you buy to last a lifetime.

      it depends what you're used to in terms of bike length. TBH I'd go for an XL for the 475mm reach and I'm only 5'11. I'd have a look at the Whyte 629 as that gets you a 508mm reach in XL or Ragley and Nukeproof are in the 490-500mm area.

    Hi guy. I'm currently riding an on one big dog. I'm a big steel bike fan but I'm now considering a full suspension bike having always ridden hardtails previously. I really like the big dog, it perfectly does what I need from it. With this in mind would you consider a jeht a good transition into the full bounce world?
