PG&E’s Coastal Development Permit Process

In March of 2021, PG&E applied for a Coastal Development Permit (CDP) and Conditional Use Permit (CUP) with the County of San Luis Obispo. A second CDP will be filed with the California Coastal Commission for actions off the coast (exclusive coastal commission jurisdiction).
In order to safely and promptly begin decommissioning after the successful operations of Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP), PG&E needs to obtain numerous regulatory approvals, including these two CDPs.
