The rapture cannot be imminent since Paul made it clear that before our gathering together unto him (the rapture) there apostasy must occur and the man of lawlessness be revealed. So how can it be imminent?
I always notice that when the plain meaning of 2nd Thessalonians 2 is confused, it is because there is a belief in a pre-trib rapture. A lot of biblical gymnastics are done in order to confuse what Paul is clearly saying. Christ is not returning until after the falling away and the Anti-Christ appearing in the temple in Jerusalem claiming to be God. Could not be more clear. That has to be confused in order to clear the way to set the stage for a pre-trib rapture.
No matter your position on the rapture, each group can make it fit with scripture. I've even seen recently on a group of people claiming the millennium kingdom has already come and use scripture to prove their point. So when the body of Christ disagrees and accuses each other of not knowing the truth, we look like fools.
In Matthew chapter 24 verses 29 through 31 Jesus Christ tells us that he will come immediately after the tribulation. There's no where in the Bible does it say that the church will be raptured out before the tribulation.
If you are truly saved, and the Lord Jesus dwells in your heart by His Holy Spirit, YOU ARE SAVED FOREVER! AND YOU WILL NEVER FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH IN THE LORD!!! IF YOU TRULY ACCEPTED AND INVITED THE LORD JESUS INTO YOUR HEART AND GAVE HIM YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL NEVER RENOUNCE THE LORD...IT'S JUST IMPOSSIBLE FOR A TRUE BELIEVER TO DO SO AND THUS, FALL AWAY FROM FAITH....And everyone has faith in something or someone and people may have faith in our Savior, on all that He has done for the human race BUT THEY NEVER ACCEPTED THE LORD AS THEIR SAVIOR, AS THEIR LORD, AND, AS THEIR GOD, WHICH IS TO SAY: They were never really and truly SAVED TO GO TO HEAVEN and spend eternity with the Father God and Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD.
2 thes 2 is clear "our gathering together to him" won't happen until two things happen #1 falling away #2 the man of sin is revealed the context is the Day of Christ not the Day of the Lord, the day of Christ is the rapture, the Day of the lord is wrath... I just have one question, why are they afraid of the rapture? You can't hop back over verse 2 and try to attach that to the rapture that is found in verse 1. If verse 2 were the rapture, they wouldn't be "troubled/shaken in mind". The rapture is pure bliss and comfort...not something that shaken’s your spirit and troubles you. The "Falling Away" is actually a "Departure" as it is translated in the first half dozen English versions ---meaning a PHYSICAL DEPARTURE. The CONTEXT in Thessalonians is The Rapture. The Roman Catholics decided to translate apostasy "falling away" because the Protestants "fell away" from the true faith of the Roman Catholic Church. God does not do this, if you think that it's Blasphemy! The person themselves want to be in unbelief because their heart is in rebellion against the Lord. In Genesis 6:3-5 It say God will not always strive with man, in other words after a certain point in your life when keep pushing the Lord away, He gives you exactly what you want, unbelief, because of your own pride and willful disobedience. Never the less the Lord still gave humanity 120yrs until He brought flood and swept them all away. In Psalm 103:9 He also says He will not always strive with man. Nor will He keep His anger forever. Interesting scripture In Thessalonians and you know what is restraining HIM so that HE may be revealed at the proper time. The One who now holds HIM back will continue to do so until HE is taken out of the way The He is not the Holy Spirit The HIM and HE is the same person- the anti christ The One who now restrains him is God- in Jesus Daniel 9:24 Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to Restrain transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. Who restrained transgression and put an end to sin- Jesus The devil is thrown down to the earth to roam free and is no longer Restrained as it is said in Daniel 9:24 He is set free to do his mischief. I believe this is the correct interpretation.

So, the 70th week will not start except the rapture comes first. It will not be a secret as the world will be freaked out and in a panic. Someone will have to step up and take control. Do we see where this is going?
Interesting scripture
In Thessalonians and you know what is restraining HIM so that HE may be revealed at the proper time.
The One who now holds HIM back will continue to do so until HE is taken out of the way
The He is not the Holy Spirit
The HIM and HE is the same person-
the anti christ
The One who now restrains him is God- in Jesus
Daniel 9:24 Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city
to Restrain transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
Who restrained transgression and put an end to sin- Jesus
The devil is thrown down to the earth to roam free and is no longer Restrained as it is said in Daniel 9:24
He is set free to do his mischief.
I believe this is the correct interpretation.
Apostasy can also mean departure I feel that explains this scripture better since the lawless one cannot come until the church departed. Apostasy from faith is only addressed later in Timothy's letters.
Is "rapture" even biblical?
Matthew 15 the traditions of men for didn't JESUS warn us that certain ones will come and deceive it is by FAITH not works for you call yourselves saints for the scriptures say no man is above any we are equal in the eyes of the most high will you ROB GOD ?
