I'm so glad you mentioned your mom's hymnal. As a new mom w/ a husband in college and w/ 2 girls, a infant(me) and a 16 mos. old , we had to live in cheap places which was usually the basement of buildings & some churches. One day while her girls were napping she went upstairs and sat down at the piano. She had never taken lessons and never played before. She was shocked to discover that she was actually playing music. She had a God given talent and "Played by Ear". From then on she played at every church we went to. I have memories of her playing and my sister singing( alas, I had no talent at all) My mom would've preferred to have Both daughters sing, but, no! LOL! I just subscribed and love UR decorating videos.

Your living room is so beautiful! I love that you use decor that was handed down to you, that makes it so much more special and the memories with each item. I use the same decor every year, I may add a new item like an ornament for the tree or some greenery. I have an ornament that my mom made me when I was 10. The nativity is so beautiful and the hymnal that belonged to your mom, so special.
I couldn’t agree more!!! Those pieces mean more than anything I could buy at a store. I love to add new meaningful ornaments each year. My oldest daughter just gifted myself and her little sister with the sweetest little ornaments from Etsy that look like miniature VHS movie copies of our favorite Christmas movies. Mine was The Holiday, of course!! 🤣 I thought it was such a sweet, thoughtful little gift that we an hang on the tree every year.

Whoaaaaa....when you say your family traditionally watches "The Holiday", does that include your husband? I think mine would rather swallow a handful of nails! LOL!! He's all about "Home Alone" and "The Santa Claus"... no chick flicks for him! 😅😅😅 Love your decor...and your home is so so cozy. Merry Christmas!
Soooo to be honest….he did “watch” the movie…and usually does (at least when it’s under the pretense of family time). However, he loves the UFC and there was a fight night last night. So he may or may not have had his iPad out…watching both. He did help decorate the tree….so I let it slide! At the end of the day it’s definitely not his favorite movie by any stretch of the imagination…but he’s a trooper this time of year!

Carin, your living room is vibrant with those lovely pops of red, both the berries and the beautiful red velvet ribbon. You have done a masterful job. My nativity set is made from beeswax. My mom and dad made many sets and gave them to friends and family when they were beekeepers. It’s fun to have something so unique and passed down through the family. I hope you all enjoyed your movie night.

Everything is so beautiful and cozy. I love it. I finally managed to finish my dining room. It's been a bit of a challenge this year, but it's coming together. I usually put up several trees. This year I only did the main one. It's ok. I'll take what we can get. Thank you for sharing. ❤

I also put my stars up that I made after you made yours last year and I still love them. I also have my grandmother‘s nativity that she painted years and years ago and I got it when she passed away. She never had a stable so I looked around for a couple years until I finally found the perfect one and it’s one of my favorite things as well.. everything turned out beautiful as always great job!

Those special family pieces are just priceless!! My grandma never had a stable either. She just displayed the figurines on her console table in her entryway. When i inherited it though, I definitely wanted a stable. It took me awhile to find one too.

Hello sweet friend! Hope your weekend is going well😊 I'm not one that follows trends.. but i do still think a lot of items used are beautiful. I'm loving velvet ribbons, especially the frayed edged ones, the bells in different shapes & sizes.. but not shiny gold! I like the old look, tarnished or rusty. But if I like the shape & size I'll just use my antiquing wax! I have some rusty ones, some I've used the wax on & some that are actually old. I love berries on any greenery or alone.. on stems, picks, vines, garlands, wreaths & candle rings. I love your simplistic yet beautiful tree, lots of lights & pops of red with the poinsettias, love it!🎄 And same for the mantle.. the gorgeous garland & the few beautiful pieces on top, with that stunning print on the TV above.. perfect!!❤ I love the nativity, its beautiful Carin & definitely unique! The stable is the perfect size too, that was a good find! Of course baby Jesus is always my fav piece.. but i just adore the tiny sheep!🐑 Another thing I'm getting attached to, sheep! I just love them so much!🤍 I think that's so awesome that it was hand crafted & passed down from your grandparents. I know you cherish it! Those peppermints brings me sweet memories of my mama.🥹 She loved the soft peppermints! She always had her pocketbook well stocked, especially on Sundays for church!😊 I like the star garland too! The piano top is always so beautifully styled, i love the Victorian vibe with the beautiful pieces you used. Oh how special to have your moms hymnal!❤ I collect old hymnals & bibles, I just love them! I remember when you made those pretty brown bag stars! Lol my husband fusses over me constantly standing on things i shouldn't!🫣😄 But hey, we gotta do what we gotta do, right?!😉 Oh I love the tree in the old top hat!😮 What A neat idea! You always have such great ideas! I love the Santa & Mrs Claus.. you're very fortunate & blessed to have those great pieces handed down! Yes..I pray everyone stop or pause for just a minute on Christmas day & think about that, just say happy birthday. That the one tradition I started with my oldest, did it with my youngest, they've done it with their kids, and as we now have 2 of the small ones, we'll do it with them. Whoever wakes up first Christmas morning wakes everyone & they come straight to our bed. My husband will talk to them about the true meaning.. then we sing happy birthday Jesus.. before we go ck out the gifts! I enjoyed the video, as always! I have a similar memory with my grandma in church…she always has butterscotch and the red cinnamon hard candies in her pretty handbags. I think she put extra ones in there when I was visiting…lol. My youngest had her hand on that bowl of soft peppermints all night last night. LOL
The tree is all decked out now! Once we finished the movie we decorated the tree. I have relinquished a lot of control in that department the last few years. I let them put things wherever they want. I have the tree in the dining room that I can do however I want. The family tree is just that…for the family!

@ourhomeonlawrence oh yes.. mama did the cinnamon candy for years then for some reason she could no longer eat anything with cinnamon, her mouth would get really sore almost like an allergic reaction. I can wait to S's the tree, i know you had the best time with your family decorating & watching Christmas movies! Next year we'll be in out own house & i plan to have a tree the grandbabies can decorate! As they get older, as long as we have them, I want to add more things to do together. I missed the video before this one..i started watching last night but fell asleep, so I'm going to watch it now!😊 Oh I love watching your channel.. you have such a talent for decorating & making it all special with the Amazing DIY's and the stories you tell, the things you share, its all beautiful!
