I've been following Mitis since 2012 or so when I'd heard Born on Sheeepy. Had a unique sound all his own but a talent that you could "feel" even at the earliest stages. Was a year or two later when I heard the song "Life" on some YT station where all the comments were about what genre it fell into. I commented basically saying who cares what categorization it had because no matter what you labeled it, it was beautiful and dope. He commented back to me and from that moment on, I was following the dude. He came and played a really small show in Minneapolis where I got chance to meet him briefly after. He was down to earth, incredibly gracious and humble, and a perfectionist being his own biggest critic. I've had nothing but mad respect for this cat. You can hear in the quality of his production how attentive to detail he is. You can hear throughout how chord progressions, how deep his classical origins and roots are. I said it way back when that this kid is going to blow up one day. Still doesn't get the credit he deserves in my mind but he's getting there and can easily stand with juggernauts like 7L and Illenium etc. Its been a real honor watching and even participating to a degree in dudes evolution over the years. I've been a massive fan of EDM for over 25 years now and artists like Mitis are the reason why I'll never leave and it will forever be a very big piece of who I am. Much love and respect always.
I remember this like it was yesterday, it's nice to hear from you. During that time, i was going through it with family shit, and that show was one of the last ones of the tour I believe - was a rough time emotionally, so thank you for the kind words. @@MitisMusicMan, thoe truly made my day. When this first dropped, I was in the midst of some seriously difficult times. Tragically, I'd lost 4 people from my family in as many weeks. As if that wasn't hard enough, I broke up with my gal of ten years. So now at 41 I find myself starting over in life... Again. It's unreal how challenging shit can get and be sometimes. My old man told me one time when I was like 13 or 14, that a man becomes such by being forged through the fires of life. You'll be subjected to the chaotic inferno and when that isn't enough, it'll pound and beat you down. It's then that the strongest get separated from the rest of the heard. And where iron can become steel worthy of a weapon. Strength is worth nothing though if it isn't balanced with softness and empathy and a blade is worthless if all it has is strength. It'll become brittle and break the moment it's ever tested. So as life forces you into the forge, decide on who the man you want to be is. When you do, let nothing stop you from that. Become the man worthy of the hell it took to get there. I look back to those words far more often than I'd ever have thought back then. For me, writing and music provide the path and light through the darkness. So with that, I sincerely want to say thank you. Your music has been a part of the soundtrack to my life for a long while now and it'll remain so til fate decides my last sunset. I've no idea how i originally missed this response but my playing my "Life's Soundtrack" playlist on random, brought me here on a day and time when it was needed. Love and light to you and yours my man. Happiest of Holidays and with all my heart, I hope you find countless reasons to smile throughout them. No matter the challenges.
