- Spiral Tribe rehearsing in Shepherds Bush and live in a warehouse somewhere on the outskirts of London , plus the aftermath of Castle Morton, and the Hyde Park/Trafalgar Square Advance Party Anti CJB demo, with comments from Debbie & Mark.
Like most of the footage on this channel this was originally edited using domestic VHS players (all hail the insert and audio dub buttons).
I was in vagator when this unruly bunch turned up in a bus with a sound system. They stayed in a derelict building just back from the beach. They were lovely and I had some of the best times of my life. Goa was different back then. Good Times, thank you❤❤❤❤❤
No coke fiends, no gangs mugging people. Just a community of ravers watching each other's back. There were problems but it was so much safer back then.

Ho iniziato con i party anni 95/96era tutto nuovo...vedevano queste persone con mega camion vestite stranissime per quegli anni..dopo la prima festa pensai soltanto che quello era il modo.in cui volevo vivere...e per 15anni quello feci..ogni sett un party..
Feste che duravano.a settimane..
Conoscevi gente bellissima che veramente viveva contro il sistema...
Ora le feste sono diventate tutt altra cosa ma noi nn siamo cambiati..

Closest thing I got seeing spiral tribe was free festival at Letham, Dunnichen hill where I think it was Warp? turned up with a crazy sound system in a van covered in baby dolls. Quite surreal.

We were on a site with Spiral Tribe just outside of Tunbridge Wells Kent. I think Spiral only stayed for a few weeks. We stayed and the police decided to get us out of their county. Their was about 30 trailers, nobody had insurance or tax which we pointed this out to the police but coz it suited them they let about 40 odd vehicles drive illegally. The police literally escorted us out of Kent and into Sussex. They got us to the Sussex border then turned around and left the Sussex police to deal with us.
Some great times and some really good people.
Think diy were there aswell? Down high brooms if I remember rightly. Diy managed to pull off a nye party just off the a21 at flimwell

We never got to the flimwell party. After we got evicted from high brooms we ended up in Crowborough, Sussex, which was good.
Had some good times back then.

I remember that protest! Almost, God my hangover was awful, not in a fighting state so full respect to everyone else who took it to plod and drilled a hole in the Westway under a giant skirt.
A REALLY giant skirt, very cunning & impressive it was, the motorway took days to repair. Ha!
Urgh - "born into Europe" and "opening our attitudes" - too many people have proved just not capable of this, 23 years have just cemented them deeper into their outmoded old paradigm sadly.
On a lighter note - the lovely lady with the shaved head (Debbie?) was extremely supportive to me when my daughter went awol at Kerry festival in Wales - thanks if you ever read this! XxX
Common land.... a thing of the past.
Commons were never owned by the people, just "rights of common" to graze your sheep or have a fate, or whatever. Always owned by someone, often the local manor or a Duke of somewhere.
holy shit! this brings me back a lot of memories! I used to go to those raves (mostly in Italy) from 1998 to 2008, the golden age: desert storm, tomahawk, spiral tribe, sound conspiracy, metek, trakass, narkotek, circus alien. And the italian crews like tekno mobil squad, kernel panik, animatek, they were just newborn ones. Even though I'm still dealing with some of the "consequences", that was the best decade of my life! RAVE ON!

Just be aware of this- your body has limitations and mentally you have to come back and live in society at some point.
I was with a soundsystem that rocked with Spiral and the Tek collective between 93 - 96.
My advice is this - go easy on the Acid. Don't get into Ketamine or smack and you should be fine.

Hi Jonathan - I'm doing a film about Spiral Tribe / early 1990s free party scene. Fancy having a chat?
Pls make it clear that Spiral Tribe hijacked the scene tried to make it political and about counter culture, the didnt clean up party sites infact they promoted damage, chaos and anarchy, they turned up at traveller festivals that had run for years and made out they arranged the whole thing, turning raves into protests, they had no plans no end goals and achieved nothing it was all just hot air but they scared the goverment into the criminal justice bill, Spirals didnt want 5 small parties going on they wanted one big in your face protest. Then once theyde fucked things up so much that travellers couldnt even live on site anymore they ran off to europe.
Funny to see protesters for freedom of movement especially now when the protesters just want to be allowed to leave the house.

Looking back - halcyon days surely! Kids weren't stabbing each other on a daily basis unlike now. There was legitimate dissent but at least there was a basic sense of acceptance, community & unity among the diverse people who were part of the scene back then.
