That sucks to hear but there is always some risks in business. At least you learn and can be greater and greater ! You're really good at this so don't let go ! Just think of ways to solve problems, you're really smart and I'm sure you'll figure it out :)
Ive sold large 240V equipment for 3 years now. In the beginning I was just like you, scared to death of returns because I couldnt test equipment. Get a Predator 9000 watt generator from harbor freight. It has a 240V 4 prong plug, then build or buy a Dongle that turns the 4 prong residential RV style plug into a 3 prong industrial style kitchen plug. Generator is only $680 if you buy with 15% off any single item Coupon. Take the generator everywhere you go and test the equipment at the purchase.
Same thing happened to my eBay account. I sold high-end HAM radios - did an estate sale liquidation, in which I bought 100+ radios. Sold them at clearance prices that were like wildfire. Ebay restricted my account and said I needed to provide invoices. I did supply that documentation, and still they declined it. 6+ years later they still have $7,400.00 and account is still restricted.
@@TheResellingConsultant It was a bummer - I had the same as you, 100% feeback, no negative marks, and then overnight I was ousted after 8 years. I can only say that perhaps you could formulate invoices of your own from Quickbooks with the customer's information and backlog as cash sales...maybe that might help. Good luck!
Ebay has to remit any undeposited funds to your local municipality. I would look into it as it typically takes 6 months to a year for it to happen but you are well beyond that timeframe. The only way this wouldn't be the case is if they refunded all of your buyers.
Same thing happened to me. I flipped a microphone on Ebay I got for $10 and sold it for $800. They restricted my account and wanted a proof of purchase. I replied explaining that it was bought at a garage sale and was a handshake deal. I don’t have any proof. I was banned from selling for life. I couldn’t believe it.
happened to me. eBay froze my account for 2 weeks but luckily I had receipts. unfortunately after this incident the market was then flooded with the product I was selling. Pretty sure someone at eBay used my invoices to figure out my supplier and ruin my business. I was selling $30k a week when my account was frozen. once unfrozen i was doing 5k and then trended to nothing. As for returns, I had a couple people scam me, and I would just give them partial refunds to resolve the “isssue” because it’s not even worth fighting with eBay.
I think the business model of flipping higher and items and dealing with less volume is a great idea. Taking peoples word for things working is almost never an option unfortunately it only takes one bad person to ruin a good thing. I think you should consider figuring out a way to test your stuff. That is what is putting me off from myself. I’m going to wait until I can set up an area to properly test the appliances.
I wanted to comment on what you said at the end of this video, if you are able to find ways to outsource some of the workload and spend your time mainly just sourcing the products that seems like it could be more scalable, and as a viewer as well flipping these huge appliances on pallets is a little intimidating to say the least. Everything you said in this video was a fear of mine which is why I never really dove into it. I sell on Amazon doing online arbitrage and have a real estate photography business and I use VA's in both of the them. I would also love to hear more about smaller items like EV chargers etc, that sounds very interesting!
Awesome man! Thanks for the comment, every mistake that I made in this video was completely avoidable and not a mistake I will be making in the future If you’re interested in learning more about the ev chargers check out the series I did about selling on eBay to buy a house! Also shoot me an email, I’d love to talk
You might get with a local company in Colorado & work a deal to service & inspect prior to shipping. Many local companies can make a flat rate to do this service.
Good Luck. I am very glade you made this video. I hate that you are having problems with eBay. It is a learning curve. Just work hard clean & test. Please keep up the excellent content. I believe you will succeed. Good luck. Is not the end of the world, even though it can feel like it. I hope service technicians can help. Sometimes cutting your losses is for the best.
Hey man hopefully all this issues get solved for you, I started buying more and more of Facebook marketplace thanks to you, and for some reason I want to keep going after a few profit
From watching your content it seems like you have found a good niche in the commercial kitchen equipment. Its something that not a lot of people are doing (outside of bigger companies) due to the types of hassles you are encountering. I'd stick with it but I feel like you could also try to grab some of the item types your were previously buying so you arent pigeonholed into one item type. As far as testing I'd try to get pictures of it working in place or maybe offer a few bucks extra if they can give you repair history or show it in place working.
I just had the same problem with ebay restrictions, took me a full month to get unrestricted, they just kept asking for more and more details. absolutely ridiculous
Hey bro just keep it up being self employed has some roadblocks that seem impossible to get over just keep pushing bro tip whenever you have a good place to work out of it makes it way easier I went through kinda the same think and whenever I had my own place it became way easier
no the jews are the ones doing this to prevent people from making money under the veneer of "verification for fraud"... It's all bullshit designed to prevent people from making money... They just want people to make enough to eat, drink, shit and shower and put gas in their car so they can show up to slave for them the next day... Paypal also does this bullshit and amazon has started created barriers of entry into the marketplace so only the rich and connected can make money...
@@TheResellingConsultant You were very lucky. Freight lines are notorious to accept the money and then balk at paying when they tear your merchandise up in the rough handling by their employees. If it fell through a pallet it is because someone dropped it with their fork lifts loading and unloading it out of the trucks along the way.
@@TheResellingConsultant Maybe that's your next video, how to navigate the insurance claim process, I'm sure your viewer would greatly appreciate it! :)
That’s the same issue I had I bought high ticket items from Facebook like car programming kits etc mainly electronics they asked for invoices I didn’t have any they ended up saying that’s the only way and eventually kicking me off the platform for supposedly having a listing that goes against there rules
@@TheResellingConsultant That's good to hear! Getting my account suspended is like my worst nightmare! I thought ebay was chill about used items, isn't that kind of their whole thing lol, how do they expect people to have invoices for mostly used stuff
Excuse the question but, how do you get something for so cheap and get a huge profit out of it? Why would people sell it to you for so cheap if the market price is way higher.
@@TheResellingConsultant But it seems difficult to make a living that way, let alone buying a house like in one of your vids, thanks for answering btw!
Youll bounce right back if you hustle through it. I guarantee youll find something awesome soon. I've bounced back from $10k losses twice, and recently a $100k+ loss in an investment. Just keep pushing

Got it all sorted out today actually! eBay reinstated me, took a lot of digging on Facebook to get all of the information necessary

Woah…. So you can’t make another eBay account ?
Wow - I’m sorry to hear that. It’s tough that eBay has such a monopoly on the pre-owned marketplace.
What was the exact reason for the restriction if you know by any chance?

I quit selling on ebay back when they stopped allowing me to give negative feedback to buyers. Many need negative feedback.

I bet the freight line probably took no responsibility for the damage on the oven.
I got insurance on my shipments - the whole insurance process is an absolute nightmare though

if you are not testinf equipment before listing and shipping it you're not a good seller. if you do yoyr due dilligence then you're doing it right.

i used to sell iphones on ebay same thing happened to me restricted and money held i ended up finding a wholesale buyer locally

i feel like i saw this play out on reddit .
Reddit??
Yeah, they locked my account for a month few months ago , it should clear up soon bro !
