    The "I'm not gay" part was truly offensive. You must realize being gay or straight doesn't make a man's vocal range. Tons of straights are Tenors and Countertenors (High-Voiced Males) and lots of gays are Basses and Baritones (Low Voiced Males)

    You have to remember that he is a guy, and a B4 is actually in the mezzo soprano range. Which actually is a bit impressive. That on top of the fact that he also sounds as good as he does in his falsetto, it really is rather impressive. You know, tbh.

      There's no note in one voice types range. Range doesn't determine vocal fach/voice type. Timbre, vocal weight, tessitura, passaggios, stamina and other things do. Nina Hagen can hit a mixed Eb6 belt, yet she is a Contralto.

    I wish I had a larger vocal range like Chris. I am a girl and I can belt from E3 to G5 (I can sing D3 on a good day). I have a powerful voice and can sing all of the notes in my range with ease (since I've been trained as a belter and I naturally have a dramatic tone to my voice). Luckily my range gives me the opportunity to sing mezzo-soprano, alto, and occasionally a higher tenor part (which I only have to sing when the boys in school choir need help with their notes). I just wish that I could sing a lot lower. My higher notes are getting better and I've expanded my range by a couple of high notes, but I wish that I could expand my range more. I don't think I'll ever get to three octaves like Chris, but I can only try. I mean, if I can belt over two octaves comfortably, maybe I have to potential to sing some higher and lower notes that will just not be as comfortable for my voice.
    Edit: I JUST HIT AN A5!!!!!!!

    @willivanilli07 Yes, Chris Colfer confirmed it in an interview a while back. He also demonstrated the ability to speak in a much lower voice than his normal, comfortable speaking voice on George Lopez Tonight.

    Amazing Range. Some people on here are throwing out tech terms like head, chest, mixed and falsetto. It would be nice for someone really in the know to clarify these terms. IMO I believe he does use all of the above and they are all different ways of producing sounds by varying the length and thickness of different parts of the vocal folds. i could listen to him all day but can live without some of the note sliding he does. If you want to hear a true counter tenor search for Alfred Deller.

    Btw the first f#5 is a belt and so is the Bb5. Very mixed indeed, but belts noneless, the D5 is a A4.

  • @SuperPianogirl123
    @SuperPianogirl123 12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Cade, question for you, is Chris' G5 in "It's All Over" falsetto or mixed? Sometimes I can barely tell male falsetto from mixed(example: the ending F5 in Hot Times by SM the ballad)

  • @DNel123
    @DNel123 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @stardusth2o i read somewhere that chris actually has an unusually high voice he can hit an f5 in full chest voice so mabe the quality of his voice in general which is kinda airy ..makes his highnotes seem like falsetto...just sayin

    He can really hit an A2! I heard it in a radio interview like a long long time ago where he sang a few lines just to prove that his voice was not synthesized. But I think the interview was taken down for whatever reason cos I can't find it anymore...

  • @Chaosdude7111
    @Chaosdude7111 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @LingLingRox He's not a "high tenor". He's a countertenor, and thus specializes in his head voice/falsetto to achieve a more feminine sound/range (hence, Defying Gravity). His chest voice is much more of a baritone, or even a bass-baritone if he wants, but he isn't as trained in it as he is his falsetto, and thus he doesn't use it often.

  • @XavierGMusic
    @XavierGMusic 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    correction, he is not a tenor, he not a countertenor, he is a male soprano.

    • @thunderstorm__8147
      @thunderstorm__8147 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A male soprano IS a Countertenor, called "Sopranista". It isn't a voice type, it's just a more rare Countertenor voice.

    • @thunderstorm__8147
      @thunderstorm__8147 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Countertenors are tenors. They are a subtype. It goes like Bass (and all subtypes like Lyric, Light Lyric, Dramatic, Young...), Baritone (Lyric, Light Lyric...), Tenor (Light, Spinto, Lyric, Dramatic, Countertenor...). Voice types are 6, but they have many sub-types.

    u do know u used rose turn like times

  • @RPDLTS
    @RPDLTS 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @willivanilli07 He's also a baritone,like u, with a developed falsetto. And a faked light timbre on his normal voice to match the girliness of the falsetto. I know from personal experience. I am a countertenor myself. High baritone with normal voice, a soprano with falsetto(up to a high D=D6, where middle c is C4)
