Couple points: A spritz of WD40 helps break it loose. Wipe the post with WD40 (and brush) before reattaching; some grease on the post will prevent that caked debris.
Once I hired a guy who actually is a professional windshield installer. He couldn’t remove the wiper arms without destroying them in the process of removing. He didn’t use a wiper arm pulley at all. I ma sure now that he did it on purpose. What chance do I have that the spindles are not destroyed as well. I have a terrible feeling I will need to replace the wiper transmission too.
Sure, it does work and it’s the right tool for the job, but if your stuck, two spanner’s under the wiper arm, replace the nut, apply gentle downwards force to the spanner’s, which in turn, applies pressure in an upwards movement to the wiper arm and gently tap with a hammer, works every time 👍👀😀
@@screwsnutsandbolts Yeah I bought some PB Blaster and I sprayed it on top where the thread hex nut is. I even took off my cowl to get a better grip (replacing a broken windshield anyway). Won’t move an inch. Should I get another spray or spray it somewhere else?
@@SentiMoodi If you can get one, try one of the tools in this video. It's a lot stronger that the others and it won't flex like the others: th-cam.com/video/ZbvqnhrPNho/w-d-xo.html
The tommy bar is too flimsy, at least on mine. Can be got from Aliexpress for a few pounds. Ebay UK, £10 - 11. A major carparts outfit in UK advertising same item for £31.99 and that's after their supposed 45% discount . . . at time of this posting. The item's OK but it's not 'heavy duty' as some ads suggest There again 'heavy duty' is a relatively meaningless term. Worth buying but dont expect it to pull off a really seized wiper arm.
Update. To get the tool used in video to fit squarely and safely on a NS Octavia mk2 arm, mark the park positions of arms with tape as per video. Stop the wipers during a wash-wipe by way of the key to leave them stationary at about 45°. This will give enough clearance at the fixed end to get the puller on.
I got this on Ebay but you can get them in most motor factors. They even have one in Screwfix: www.screwfix.ie/p/silverline-wiper-arm-battery-terminal-puller/155FU
Just tried exact tool on driver side mitsubishi endeavor..got passenger off 2bolts with elbow grease...if i wanted to i could rip the srm and motor out with my bare hands..point is something is way off with this..even if seized ive been around 🔧 my entire life and tried every method..have used countless techniques with this arm and NOTHING...ZERO...SHORT OF cutting it off and replacing with a new one im at a stand still...again im very mechanically inclined and it almost seems like they threaded the arm onto to the motor pre windshield installation....i dont know anymore..next is a torch
Been looking for something like this to uninstall my windshield wipers arms as I feel I dont need them here in California as it hardly ever rains and I feel capable of driving under the rain without them.
For whatever reason, rear arms seem to be stuck on more than regular front arms..but is possible with one if these pullers. May have to use channel locks and a long screw driver in addition to get enough leverage, but it'll come off.
These tools are good for removing them, as they're a lot stronger: www.micksgarage.com/d/transmission-suspension-and-steering-tools/products/2448191/laser-1793-ball-joint-separator-cup-type
Excellent ... thank you for the upload.
Thanks for watching ! :)
Defo the handy option I've always wrestled them off lol
Likewise lol :)
Yeah, there was a time I did, but I've broken several arms, spindles and trims doing that. Since buying the proper tool, I've never looked back.
Like all single purpose tools, this definitely came in handy. The "pop" when it comes free is a bit alarming, but all is well again.
These pullers have a multitude of uses. Great for pulling terminals off batteries OR slip rings from alternators and plenty more

Yeah I've broke two of those tools trying to get my wiper arms off.
Now that is a fucking tutorial. The best, thanks.
Nicely done pal!
Thank you !
thanks boss worked like a charm
No problem 👍
Worked great! Thank you!

I liked the tape trick.
Thanks :)
Very handy !

Hopefully not !
I put a small amount of grease on the splines when i changed mine.
would it work to pull out just the metallic ring of the wiper? managed to take the rest off since cracked but left with a very difficult ring!!!
It should be able to reach underneath the ring and grip it
something like this maybe: th-cam.com/video/zJmrYbflaaI/w-d-xo.html
Tape is a nice tip! ((🤙🏽))
Thanks ! 👍
this tool can pull out ball bearings too? such as ball bearing of vaccum cleaner.
Possibly, but it might not be strong enough. I really couldn't say

Jeez wish I ordered this before mangling my rear wiper arm on my fricken Tahoe yikes
Mine is really tight on there & I’m using the tool like in the video but it doesn’t seem to budge. Any idea why?
Sometimes they just get seized onto the splines. Do you spray some penetrating fluid onto them and let it work for a while ?

If the one from auto zone was to small by literally an 1/8 of an inch will this one fit?
I don't know the one from autozone ?

On the thread can we put copper grease or will that loosen it?
I wouldn't recommend it.
