I like the weekly vlogs. I think some daily vlogs would be great to have every once in awhile too because I like to hear some more details of what you are teaching in a single day. Also, I would love to see how you lesson plan and prep for a new school week!
I’m going into my 6th year of teaching and I’ve been watching you since the beginning. I’m a mom of a 1 and a half year old and it’s so fun watching a mom/teacher on a similar journey! I love your practical content and your adorable outfits. 💕
I like the "Who am I kidding?" statement because many of us (teachers and students) need a visual of some sort in order to put our thoughts together. Even if the method we use is disorganized, it helps us move forward with reaching our goal.
My class worked on Team Building on yesterday & did a Group Book Report. One student read the book, another assisted with words, the whole group work together to answer the questions about parts of the book, one student wrote the answers on the paper, and then a reporter from the group presented their information. However, I'm going to add in the Group Math you did & have my class do it on Monday. I really like the idea! It's great for teamwork & a quick assessment.
Yes. I can relate. One thing I have found that helps me with students who don't want to write a long paragraph. I set a timer for 15 mins. ( You can pick how long you want.) and I tell the students we will work until the timer goes off. 😉 Or I tell them to write 5 sentences with 5 or more words each. 😉
I love ,love, love your content and your delivery style. It is helpful to see what you as a teacher of primary students are doing, how you plan your day and other ideas for student engagement. You can do weekly or daily videos, I will be watching them all and archiving them for future reference. Thank you for all of your hard work teaching your students and providing support for those of us who are watching.
I use those same Brain Teasers as well! I make a small packet for Fridays to use if they’re finished with the week’s center work. It’s a fun, relaxing incentive for them. Thanks for sharing your week with us! We are ending our third week with the kiddos. I saw your post today about your classroom move due to leaks. My daughter’s classroom and their entire building had to relocate yesterday due to the building flooding. I had two ceiling tiles down yesterday due to water leaks and hoping it’s not worse tomorrow. We were out today due to local flooding of roads. This rain needs to go! Happy Friday tomorrow!
I love the weekly vlog format! Shelly, I hope that you know how much you are appreciated and your reach. When I watch other vloggers, I'll hear them reference you and your pile and list on the board. I'm a middle school teacher and I'm going to use some of your ideas. My principal often jokes that middle schoolers are kids reverting back to their preschool years (because they are growing and changing so fast that they often forget the simplest things and their behavior can be shockingly immature).
Love watching your vlogs! So I am all about allowing students space to share their authentic selves and while “This is easy!” may cause some students to shrink, saying you can’t say that feels limiting. Have you considered perhaps reframing it as an opportunity for showing care and promoting collaboration and peer engagement? Like if a kid is given space to say, “This seems easy FOR ME…AND I am happy to share my knowledge to support making it feel easier for someone else.” That is something I’d likely promote. I would not want kids to feel shamed for getting and/or not getting a concept. I like that this slight variation promotes voice but also encourages helping peers. Just food for thought! Here’s to a great school year for all of us! I don’t teach primary, so that could play a role in my thinking as well. 💕
This is my first year to use Rooted In Reading. I would love to see what all you use through the week. There’s so much in the curriculum that I know I will have to pick and choose. Thanks! Love all your videos!!
I love your classroom ! Where did you get your calendar and the alphabet you have on the wall? Have a great year and thank you for sharing your great ideas!
I love your classroom. I get so inspired to decorate & organize my classroom. I’m also a second grade teacher. I have 21 kiddos this year but unfortunately my classroom is half the size of yours 🥹
Loved this vlog! Thanks for doing this despite the beginning of the year being crazy. One question, I’ve noticed my 3rd graders really struggle with games where they get out. Do you have any recommendations for working through that with students while still enjoying the game?
i love watching these. where did you get your rug. im not sure it will go okay with my theme, but i love it. Also, where did you get the thing you're using to hold your paper up while you read and do an activity, like the one in the video with classmates are.
I love your videos! I love how you run through quickly what you did each day. I am a recent graduate and am doing long term subbing until I can get my own classroom. Can you link where you got that 1-100 collaboration form! Thank you, you're awesome!
Hello! Where can I get the guided reading questions that you showed in the notebook(bright orange questions)? My son has autism and needs a lot more help with reading comprehension and I think this would help him slow down and pay more attention to what he is reading. He will be going into 3rd grade but reading comprehension is his worst area academically.
I wish that many snacks would have lasted my sons class last year. 😩 I swear over half his class never brought snacks they had lunch 1st at 10:15. Those poor kids. I fed that room snacks all year I was the only one to donate snacks from Sam's. I would go and buy literally 7 or 8 boxes at least 4 maybe 5 times last year. I feel like I fed 3 classes they always asked for more. I'm now homeschooling tho. That school failed my boy. Thanks for your videos though I love them!
Hello! What is the link for the collab activity where the kiddos take turns circling the numbers in order? Loooove the weekly vlogs. Subbed, liked and turned on notifications!
I'm a para right now in school for Elementary Education. We've been in school for 21 days already with the students. If you don't mind sharing, could you like the number collaboration page? Our kiddos are STRUGGLING with working together and I think it would help our teacher out a ton.
You seem way happier this school year. I'm glad you still like teaching.

My hubby gave me that huge pack of markers for Christmas one year I was so so so thrilled. He just gets me!
I like the "Who am I kidding?" statement because many of us (teachers and students) need a visual of some sort in order to put our thoughts together. Even if the method we use is disorganized, it helps us move forward with reaching our goal.
Enjoy and appreciate whatever you have time to share! Glad you had a great first week of school!
I teach in Northern CA as well!! Just found you on TH-cam! You are inspiring me to do a classroom rehaul. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!!

Glad the year is off to a good start! Can you walk use through the sentence writing strategy you mentioned in a later video?
Love the weekly vlogs and would love to hear your ideas for fast finishers.
I’m a second year teacher moving from kindergarten to 2nd grade this year and your videos are great for getting ideas!!

Can you go over how you used the Grammar anchor chart, Adj, nouns, verbs...Thanks, I am loving your vlog!
Fantastic everything! 👏👍⭐️ I like the ‘deep dive’ activity- students need lots practice doing the basics correctly.
Hey elarly EDVENTURES how are you doing today im happy to see you
We used the GLAD sentence strategy in my second grade dual language class and it was amazing!!

Thank you for your amazing content. I'm a grade 2 teacher from China. Get a lot of great inspiration from your videos. 😀

I love your classroom. I get so inspired to decorate & organize my classroom. I’m also a second grade teacher. I have 21 kiddos this year but unfortunately my classroom is half the size of yours 🥹
Love the week long approach!
How is your son doing? My preschoolers started today and no tears😆. Have a great week
Can you please explain your eagle ticket system a bit more in depth? 🥰
Do you have the link for that number activity for collaboration?
waw! Your week was intense! Which teacher didn't like school supplies? I'm always very excited to open my boxes.
Loved this vlog! Thanks for doing this despite the beginning of the year being crazy. One question, I’ve noticed my 3rd graders really struggle with games where they get out. Do you have any recommendations for working through that with students while still enjoying the game?
We have a LOT of conversations about how to lose! I reward them as a class if they lose graciously
Where did you get your shoes? They're super cute!

Can you please link the 1-100 math collaborative activity sheet. Loving your channel!
I prefer when you film your week. Thanks

Aussie teacher here. Long time watcher, love your channel! Edward the Emu, great book… The Aussie way to pronounce Emu is ‘Eemyou’ not Emoo.
another Aussie. I always want to correct people with how to pronounce Emu (Eem-You). Sounds so strange as E-moo.
Love the number collaboration! Did I miss the link?
I love your energy. Do you ever feel that you have more authority over your classroom while wearing heels? I do. Stay safe.

They’re in the rooted in reading bundle linked in the description!
How great!
Where did you get you fact fluency number posters?

Unfortunately the link for the $19.99 Sam’s club membership has expired. 😢 I would like more info on the DDD prompts how you do that. I love the idea!
Hello! What is the link for the collab activity where the kiddos take turns circling the numbers in order? Loooove the weekly vlogs. Subbed, liked and turned on notifications!
Love the weeks!!!
Hi, I really liked your DDD idea. Did you make it all by yourself for the whole year, or you found it at TPT?
How does the number collage collaboration game work again? Do they take turns circling numbers?
I like the weekly blogs.
How often do you get observed in a school year?
Full week vlog
Weekly works. 😊
I thought your pta gave you a generous amount of supplies...
Because if your videos and after watching for sooo long, you’ve inspired me to start recording and posting. If you could please give some feedback.
I like the weeklong vlog but if things get hectic and it needs to be shorter that’s fine too!
Is there somewhere where we can find the directions for the directed drawing activity?
Negative. We just made it up 😬
I'm a para right now in school for Elementary Education. We've been in school for 21 days already with the students.
