A day in the life with the NC State women's cross country team this summer as they train in Colorado. These ladies give a unique perspective into the life of a D1 runner

Multiple ACC and NCAA post graduate fellowships, highest overall GPA awards in conference, 7 consecutive NCAA APR awards. Go climb back under your rock.
@@gopack21 that's fantastic and I hope the young women take the opportunity to utilize the academic resources available to them. Balancing rigorous academics with the three hour a day commitment to Division 1 athletics is difficult. My point was that none of the women thought to mention academics except for Kelsi. Are they ALL going to be professional athletes and then use that visibility to transition into careers after their competitive running days are over?
@@sarahdore7884 read my comment, then reconsider your use of the word crucify. A bit too strong I think. The almost uniform team response was interesting. Impressive culture but I would prefer to hear a more personal response.

they dont leave the valley LOL they are like that german hockey team in one of the mighty duck movies... crazy skilled, all from the valley, and isolated from the rest of the world.
I've had a crush on cross country girls since high school. There is just something about them. Healthy, fit, wholesome, and they are just fun to be around.
I like the clean flow that happens, some channels just drop this annoying intro that kinda ruins the vid. So maybe but only if it’s short and good. Just my opinion.
6:17 Amy's Gluten free burrito. No need to be embarrassed about it. It (celiac issues) definitely makes it harder to eat while at meets, or even at school. "Rough life" is kind of an understatement, depending on how serious the gluten issues are.
Lots of amazing runners here and this doesnt even include Tuohy of course. Honestly your incoming freshman class should be illegal... Cant wait to see you all in action!

Unfortunately, the first runner named in this video, Claire Walters, transferred out of NC State to a Dlll school. She was a top ten in the country coming out of the vaunted FM (NY) program, and was right there with Touhy and Chmiel at one point.
hello... i am going to make a "wolf-pack edit" version of my running songs... hope you guys love it... and sincerly want to tell all you ladies... thank youu very much for the inspiration... i dream of being the wolfpack mascot some day.... ha ha.... you guys could make me your little errand boy.... anyways... again... god-bless all you gals... this video is completely adorable overload
Writing on 092123 it is heartwarming to see that an entire cohort has moved on except for Kelsey, Sam, and Mariah (?) but that core spirit, best elucidated by Elly Henes (whose full name, by the way, is Elena), has since captured two national championships and is positioned to possibly three-peat. With the pickup of Amaris Tyynismaa from Alabama, the Pack can line up the 1st, 3rd, 9th and 15th finishers at the 2022 champs. If one of their seasoned vets or one of their outstanding freshman recruits can step into the fifth-guy-in role, NC State COULD make history. Let's see what happens. GO WOLFPACK!
@@ScoutGrey Well, unusual for me, I predicted it, sort of (see above). Kelsey was injured and sidelined and on race day Tuohy ran sick. She fell back to 11th, but clawed back to finish 5th. Amaris, did indeed, come through and finished 2nd guy in-- 25th place I think. Sam Bush, the most reliable 3rd guy-in of the entire NCAA started so far back she was almost in the next county, but passed dozens to finish third in, again. And, the fabulous freshman recruit Leah Stephens finished 43rd with the same time, 2:08.2, as 44th and 45th, meaning if she had been a few hundredths slower, State would have lost a tiebreaker with NAU. And fifth in sophomore Grace Hartman just scored enough points to get them the three-peat. Of their three consecutive titles, including Tuohy's monumental reeling in of Parker in '22, this was the most dramatic and the most exciting-- and possibly the most improbable. Now, it's hard not to have visions of four-peats dancing in our heads. Besides Leah and the outstanding freshman recruits Angelina Napoleon (three fastest 2k steeples in high school history and Gatorade Athlete of the Year, like Tuohy) and Kate Putman (2022 Millrose Girls Mile winner) who red shirted the cross season (?), Henes has signed Bethany Michalak of Air Academy, who was third at NXN in 2022 and second in 2023, and Fiona Smith, a fifth year transfer from St Benedict, who won the NCAA DIII individual, winning by over a minute. If Fiona had run the same time in the D1 race she would have finished ahead of Amaris as State's second guy in. The big question now is who is thePack's 2024 low stick? Or, with Fiona, Bethany, Leah, Angelina and Kate Putman, do they even need a low stick who can finish in the top ten? As Amaris, who transferred from Alabama after finishing third and ninth in '21 and '22, explicitly to win a championship said, when she first practiced with the girls: "HOLY CRAP!!!" To her what was amazing was that the whole team is of such quality they all train together.
@NOTREALLY HANKAARON I have taught me kids the THINK method: Is it true, is it helpful, is it inspiring, is it necessary, and is it kind. Apparently you are never taught that. Lulu was always cheerful and friendly to other teams. My daughter met her and says she was a genuinely nice person. You can't say that if every runner. I find it a privilege to watch any runner, no matter how fast or slow they are as long as they are a good person. XC is about family. It's one of the things I love about the sport.

So are all these runners in CO getting their training in for the altitude? I’m a new runner (I played soccer in college) and I’m wondering how and why all these runners from all these different schools all happen to be in CO... during a pandemic nonetheless

This channel is absolutely brilliant. So interesting to see top college athletes do their thing. Keep it up Ben!
This was awesome. I was NOT expecting to see Marlie Starlipper in this
As a marathoner, it's cool to see all different kinds of perspectives across the country. Thanks Ben. Subscribed!
I think the ‘drop’ banter amongst the male teams is just that... banter. Such banter creates camaraderie in itself.
agreed it’s friendly competition
I agree, really we just do it to push each other. Some days people are feeling good and it’s fine to run ahead of everyone. Makes the runs fun.
Dylan Mullarkey my team does this all the time and i love it but it gets annoying on easy runs because the point is to run slow
Those girls look/sound so fun to be around! Such a FUN team atmosphere
I watch your videos before every run! This content is amazing it helps keep me motivated to train even if cross is cancelled
NC State will be stacked next few years starting next year with Marlee Starliper & Katelyn Tuohy arriving.
Ben knows what the viewers want. Smart man.
This fire af damn. Vlog keeps getting better and better
Thanks for insight, it’s cool to see different teams and what the girls and guys teams are like!
I love these videos! Pls do more womens teams love to see it

Thank goodness for Kelsi, the only one of them that said they attend NC State for the academics.
