Christmas Bird Counts are sponsored by Audubon. Given all the badgerland drama with Madison Audubon and the national Audubon not willing to step in an nudge a local to do the right thing, a good course of action is to not participate and any CBC and let them know why.
As much as I’m not a fan of Audubon right now, I still encourage people to partake in events that help birds. Our lawyers are working on the situation with Madison Audubon and we’ve heard they do good work, it’s simply the infringement that we are against. It has been incredibly disheartening and frustrating but hopefully people can still get out and help birds, while also making their concerns known about the name issue.
I’ll be out tomorrow in Colorado Springs.

I've been doing the Christmas Bird count for over 20 years and I love doing it .
I'm going with some other people on New Years Day. We start a 6am to look for owls.

I have a birdfeeder in today I saw a hawk try to get the birds. What do I do? Take it down for a little while🤷🏻♀️
