I think I'm more impressed with the lack of handling noise, than anything else. You took us through a playground tunnel on your hands and knees and I wasn't deafened. 10/10 - now I want one.
I wanna see you pampering the stickers while Bandrew is smashing them, a great spectacle with two monters of the mic world! Thank you for sharing, it's a great video!!
Hey man, great review. Good job demoing the different switch combinations and explaining through each. Although you felt that it might have been confusing, the way that you slowly (and carefully) explained each.... IT ACTUALLY WASN'T CONFUSING!
It's a little bit weird to me that this whole thing about built-in preamps is catching on at a time when clean, powerful interfaces and recorders are finally becoming affordable for us home recordists
Really great review. I picked this up last week after seeing your review. I'm just a dumb dumb and didn't know you had an affiliate link as I watched it on my TV, so I apologize for not using it :( It really is a great microphone! I'm very much enjoying it as an upgrade from a Samson Q2U. Wind test was great, though I would have loved hearing the wind test without the windscreen as well to give an A-B comparison with and without windscreen.
First thing, I need to apologize for laughing when you made it to the bottom of the slide. I really like the SE stuff and this one isn’t any different. I have the V7x and the dynamite preamp, although I haven’t opened the preamp yet! It feels like there is something in the tube! 😉
@@ObscureMics I like the sound, I like the quality of sE Electronics quality, and, as you may know, I love the Dynamite Pre-amp. The price just tops it off.
This mic is crazy... No idea how it's not sold out everywhere. People propably don't know of it, which is good I guess so they don't raise the price lol
Well..... That's a popular talking point on the Discord chats.... We don't really. Interfaces are improving all the time.... BUT.....for those who own an older interface with less than stellar preamps, and love said interface... do likely need a mic booster. I personally think the need for them is dying... But before it completely dies... Companies are going to push them fast and hard. I have no issues with the preamp in the dynacaster because the mic is worth probably 225-250 without it.... But it's in there for a great price. And I personally like setting my gain as low as possible
The only dings I would give it: * Not shock mountable. * Off axis isn't great. Other than that, it's solid. I did get my RE-20 for $280 (used - but it was less than 6 months old).
@@ObscureMics read that as "... taped on stuff ..." A duct tape test, to see how well duct tape holds on to it, there you dumb suggestion of the day. 😂

I'd love that lol. Thank you for watching! Maybe Bandrew would be game lol
Yeah, definitely one of my favorite dynamics. I just wish they had a cheaper version with no booster.
That would be a nice addition to the lineup.... Maybe make it a matte silver version too, so they were not too alike
I’d definitely buy it at
Absolutely. BUT...the dcm3 and Dcm6 I actually like more... And they are cheaper

Very good to know. Appreciate the positive feedback
The plosive rejection was impressive!
Yeah only the sm7b is better. Besides that.... I can't think of another mic that has accomplished it
the wind test killed me 😂😂😂
My shorts were slicker than I thought
It's a little bit weird to me that this whole thing about built-in preamps is catching on at a time when clean, powerful interfaces and recorders are finally becoming affordable for us home recordists
Agreed BUT..... At $289....it feels like the preamp in this one is basically free. It just all depends on pricing.
@@ObscureMics good response to a good question
Good camera person
I want this one next.... Great review Bro!!
Thanks Ty! This mic is pretty damn sweet.... But... You could save some 💲sE Dcm6... I have a video of it... I actually like it MORE
@@ObscureMics on my way to check it out 👍🏽!!
Finally picked up one of these
ebay open box brand new sealed - £100
By far the best bargain I have had.
Thats an insane deal

No worries. I simply appreciate the view! And it's a fantastic upgrade on just about ANY dynamic! Thanks again
Once again, a very tame, professional, and no-nonsense review, Brother Bark.
So, are we gonna get a slide edition for all the mics? #LifeBeginsAt40
I believe some new test will happen each video
Definitely no nonsense on this channel

Lol no apologies necessary..... I could have cut it out or not used it.... But what's the fun in that?
I’m impressed.
By which part?

It's a fantastic price point when you look at mics like the 7b, stealth and re20
Great review as always Bark. Love sE Mics. The sE8 is a great little mic for indoor dialogue recording. Cheers 👍
Bandrew loves that one doesn't he? I need an s7 in my life
@@ObscureMics I think he loves the sE V7 and I'm sure he must love the SE8, it's awesome. Keep up the great work mate.
Thanks again for watching
@@ObscureMics Always a pleasure mate. I look forward to your vids. Cheers 🌞👍
Sounds pretty darn good
Not one mention of my new test method
@@ObscureMics I am 73 and I think I could have done that test
LOL in quicker time than me as well lol
Great 👍 channel.
Appreciate that a ton. Thanks for watching
Wow. Gotta get one.
Great mic. Check out today's video 😳
7:20 It looks like you're going through a giant SM7B grill 😂
LOL I guess it does
Maybe on the next wind test , we could do it in a convertible :) 💨
Like your demo. Thanks for the details 😎
Hahaha I thought about hanging out of a car for one. Thanks for watching Richard

You need to test the Heil PR30. After you tell me if is good. Spoiler alert, is very good for voice over and spoken word.
Ironically.... I've owned the pr30 multiple times and never made a video 🤷
1:51 say that to Podcastage! 😂
He secretly loves stickers
This mic is crazy... No idea how it's not sold out everywhere. People propably don't know of it, which is good I guess so they don't raise the price lol
Yeah it should absolutely be selling like wildfire
My only question is why do we need dynamic microphones with phantom power
Well..... That's a popular talking point on the Discord chats.... We don't really. Interfaces are improving all the time.... I have a MOTU M2....Should I have Dynamite turned on or off?
On.... Regardless of interface cause it's always going to have a lower noise floor
@@John-sn4hl A bit late to the party, but I have a Motu M4 and I would recommend setting the Dynamite to on.
Ha! Low cut + Presence boost = $290 Neewer NW-700
Yes.... It was definitely tinny
But less self noise
How dare you slander Neewers good name on self noise
The only dings I would give it:
* Not shock mountable.
* Off axis isn't great.
Other than that, it's solid.
I did get my RE-20 for $280 (used - but it was less than 6 months old).
I do love the re20 tone. You can TOTALLY shock mount the dynacaster.... On the blue yeti shock mount lol
@@ObscureMics i guess you could with clamp style too. The built in mount arm just makes me think they don't want you to...
I should've tapped on stuff. It's such a dense metal, it really handles everything well

i subscribe you sir , for a wind test.. i laughed a lot.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!
How does it compare to an SM7?
I Compared it to an sm7b in this video
Or do you mean an original Sm7?
They send you mics
Luckeeeeeeee
Singular.... Mic.... But I'll take it lol
