Thanx for another wonderfully contemplative commentary. I wish I had known you were coming to Oklahoma. I live about 45 minutes from the venue where Jordan spoke, and it would have been a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Jordan's personal beliefs, as you have alluded, are enigmatic but, from a black box perspective, I think you have sized him up pretty well. I'm not sure, even if one had the opportunity to set and visit with him that he wouldn't be just as elusive. From my perspective, he sees his belief system as way to complicated and he's trying to winnow it down to something that would fit him comfortably. My sense is, gathering the opinions and commentaries of others will exacerbate his journey. In the end, Jesus asked his apostles "... Who do you say that I am?". Once he lands on that, he will be home.

The wiles, craft and subtlety of the devil, the father of lies and all evil, are truly unmatched. As Dr Ashenden makes clear, the devil's strategy is truly brilliant and appalling.

Very thoughtful analysis as always. I've read Dr Peterson's 12 Rules for Life, and I would highly recommend it to young people. I think he is a force for good in the world, and that's why the usual suspects are trying to silence him.

I have followed Jordan for many years and read his popular books (I am struggling to read ‘Maps of Meaning’) and have concluded that he is a man of faith who, as an academic psychologist and a deep thinker as well as a brilliant communicator, is always careful with words. I am sure that it has been his own ‘battles’ with evil - personal and familial - together with his love of C Jung and Dostoevsky- that have brought him to faith. I’m really looking forward to his latest book ‘We who wrestle with God’ and would love to attend the presentation you were invited to, Gavin.

pseudo intellectualism is a lie. jordan petersen is a liar and man made religions are a lie. Christianity ended in 70AD. Jesus told us in John 3 v 13 that heaven had always been closed to man. It was only opened at the completion of God and his christs short work on the earth when the sea of glass that seperated man from god was removed. Religion and Ashenden teaches that we are still in Adam despite jesus being the last Adam and Ashended teaches the world is still ruled by satan sin and the grave and that consequently heaven is still closed. I dont believe ashended or man made religion i believe God and his christ

As usual, you are spot on, Father. Proof that it is the Spirit of Evil and not any one Church, or any one faith, is that it is also rampant in places like Hollywood, where the "faith of Celebrity"/idol worship reigns.

Thank you, Dr Ashenden - I have a lot of respect for Jordan Peterson, though as an intellectual he is going to find the way in to the Way harder. Trained brains are not always helpful, open hearts are - unfortunately I know that all too well. Jesus did state we need to own Him openly, but like Jesus we can lead people into Him gently.

Regarding Jordan Petersen 's "predicament", I am reminded of an alleged conversation between Pope John Paul 2 and Brother Rogier of Taize. The latter wanted to enter the Catholic Church, but the Pope was said to have dissuaded him, saying he would attract more people to Christ if he remained as he was, (a Protestant? Not sure).

So would I. But do you know that Dr. Ashenden withdrew his participation from the Hope is fuel conference because Dr. Jones was taking part? I think courage is missing for such a conversation. Dr. Jones certainly has a much less benign opinion on Jordan Peterson. Peterson is not a Christian. He lacks supernatural faith.

We are in the end game. The spiritual battle is at its height and can the physical battle be far from coming? The Church is flawed because it is made up of people. But Jesus said he would be with us till the end of time. The Church was founded on Peter and the other 11 apostles - yet one of those betrayed Jesus - is it so surprising priests, bishops and religious betray Jesus now? Our Lady says her immaculate heart will triumph. It will - because Jesus her son is God and will ensure it happens. Like Paul we must strain for the finish. It is close.

I think perhaps Jordy’s mission is not obvious and not all is as it seems.
I question not his integrity in saying that what I mean is I he is very deft in his modus operandi and much more righteousness lurks below the surface …it’s hard for me to articulate what I mean right now … I may have to try again later🙏🕯️🙏

@6:55 " . . to come out as a public believer." To publicly confess your faith before others is one of the pre-requisites of being a Christian. One even observed under oppressive anti-Christian regimes where expressing that faith may mean death. There are no secret agent Christians. The devil is a private believer. It's coming to faith, not academic belief that matters, and if he truly came to faith then he would feel compelled to share that with everyone, whatever the cost in clicks or approval ratings.

Well i have 3 thoughts about Peterson, the first you have already outlined at the beginning of this video.
Second, for all we know he could be already practicing christianity to some extent. Now i havent seen many of his interviews but i would love to hear someone asking him if he prays or speaks to God. I got the impression that this kind of scares him though.
Thirdly, is he of the oppinion that the Bible is good for those he would say needs it, does he believe that would be everyone, i doubt it. Maybe he thinks the Bible is for lesser mortals than the intellectuals and the learned and that christianity via churches etc is the best way to get to the people. Does he see the Bible as book of great concepts, I hope not.

There is no compromise with evil .... that's why all this talk about dialogue and inclusion and diversity is simply whispers from the serpent. Petersen saw his non Catholic wife miraculously saved from terminal cancer by saying the Rosary. I think you are quite correct that he knows and is trying to gently nudge his followers. Very astute of you both.

GKC’s “The Sceptic as Critic” also states that trenchant commentators who maintain a conservative outlook without belief in God lack any basis for anything they say apart from personal taste. Does JP merely take “spirits” to mean “people” or “desires” that he dislikes?

  • @erinmarie99

It feels like in his words, Peterson “buys in” to the Church. But by his actions, he clearly isn’t a believer. How could he be so happy for his wife and not see that HE needs the sacraments for his own salvation?!?! It comes across a bit pompous when he says things like “I don’t see why I would ever need to join the Church.” You need the Church, bc YOU (Jordan) are a sinner, just like your wife, and just like every single member of your audience! May God bless you, Dr. Ashenden and Dr. Peterson. And may God continue to open the hearts and minds of all ! Especially those with platforms to share!

I was disappointed to hear you use the term "pedophilia" when the correct term for the vast majority of sexual abuse cases by Catholic clergy is "ephebophilia" - the abuse of post pubescent children. Admittedly, the term "pedophile priest" rolls off the tongue very nicely but that term hides much of the reality of the real problem - homosexual predation by clergy. That's still evil but not quite so horrible as the thought of raping a 5 year-old.
