If you are installing Metal Prints in public spaces or other places where they need to be secured to the wall, you will want to do a SECURE METAL PRINT INSTALLATION. Here it the video for Secure Installation: • HANGING METAL PRINTS -...
In 2014 I began exclusively printing my Washington State nature photography as Metal Prints, and since then I've installed hundreds of these beautiful and vibrant photographs. There is a certain trick to hanging Metal Prints the easiest way, and I've improved my technique many times along the way.
While this video is intended for Chromaluxe Metal Prints with 3/4 inset frames, the principles will work when hanging any art. Metal Prints are a relatively new printing medium, and are becoming increasingly popular due to their incredible appearance, but they are also far superior for their impact on the environment. The metal that's used in the Chromaluxe sheets is recycled aluminum, and the dyes that are used are heat transferred into the surface, meaning that there is not a chemical development process involved. Compared to traditional photo paper prints which use heavy metals, chemicals, and bleaches, much of which that went down the drain into our water systems, the Metal Prints are an ideal fit for lovers of nature and nature photography.
Thanks for doing this Peter your doing the world a service with this video
My pleasure Ben! I love sharing knowledge!
Very helpful, thanks!
I'm so glad. Thank you so much!
Brilliant videos, thank you very much
Absolutely Brendan! After years of hanging these I wanted to share what I’ve learned.
What kind of frame would I need if I buy a metal print that doesn’t come with a frame for a 48x16 pic??
I have only ever ordered them with the frame included. You could probably ask the company you are ordering the print from.
How do you hang heavy acrylic art on the wall?
Hi KC. Personally I don't do Acrylic Prints because I prefer to work with recycled and recyclable materials, but in most cases the French Cleats will support a very heavy load. Thanks!
Thank you do you know how many brackets I would use for it 60 pound acrylic pieces I bought from an art gallery
@@kathycole1 I would put one on each stud that's behind the print, or at least three total into studs. 60 pounds is pretty heavy.
do you think one french cleat would be good enough for a 30in print? And thank you for your video, very helpful.
I'd definitely use two for a 30 inch wide print. The only time I use one is for a vertical that is 18 inches wide or less. Thanks!
Peter James thank you Peter.
What is the name of the aluminum channel with adhesive that you use on the back of the print?
It's called an inset frame and it's just like a regular picture frame only attached to the back with super strong double sided tape.
Why dont they just clme with hook already attached
