So the beta designs were basically the original idea for the show. The show's concept was a lot darker and edgier but Dana had to tone it down when she partnered with Disney to make it. A pretty common theory is that Amity's fear of Luz rejecting her is partly her parents finding out she's gay AND her being rejected. And yes, Dana has confirmed that Amity is a lesbian. So we have a bi Dominican-American (there's a story behind that specifically being Luz's ethnicity) main character with a female, lesbian primary love interest. Fuck yeah. Lilith thought the curse would be temporary, and was a dumb, insecure teenager. It wasn't good, but was understandable. And at least she did (kinda) fix things. And now Luz gets to teach Eda and Lilith glyph magic!
About the Lilith thing, it not only shows how insecure Lilith was as a teenager, but also how strong Belos' manipulation was, and how ingrained his ideas are into the Boiling Isles' society (as it was a quote by Belos that inspired her to look for the curse in the first place). He hadn't even MET her yet, and already he'd gotten into her head to the point where she betrayed her own sister. And it's not like she had no remorse for it; she spent her entire time in the Emperor's Coven trying to bring Eda in so she could be healed, but always respected her sister's own agency until the Emperor literally threatened her position if she didn't get results. She played along with Eda's games, and even said in Episode 12 that she wanted Eda to join of her own volition. Lulu was never evil; she was a victim of manipulation essentially from birth. I think the Boshlow thing just comes from people saying that Bosha is just mean to Willow because she likes her, like little boys pulling girls pigtails on the playground, but I think thats bs and Bosha is just a jock and a bully.
It also may be simply because they've run out of "main" characters of roughly the same age to match up (Gus is too young, everyone else is too old...or has had a whole two, three lines the whole season).
I personally don't ship boshlow at all. They have no romantic chemistry(probably because they haven't had that many interactions). I feel the same way for boshlow that I feel about bakudeku. It would be toxic

And also they're both major characters whose relationship is important to the plot. People don't ship bakudeku because they're a pure, sweet, totally unproblematic ship (...well, people with taste, anyway), they ship it because it's interesting. Meanwhile, Boscha is just kind of there to be a nuisance. She's not particularly important for Willow's character arc or the plot, and doesn't really have much of an arc going on herself. She just sort of slides into the background as the main characters find more important problems to worry about. ...I do lowkey ship them though, purely because I think it would be hilarious if like, a couple years later, once Willow really came into her own, Boscha looked at her one day and went "Oh no, she's hot!".

When you think about it, it makes sense that they would have children fight the Grometheus even though it's supposed to be so dangerous. Besides the life lessons about facing your fears and whatnot, the Grom takes the form of your greatest fear, and childrens' fears are typically things like disappointing their parents, or rejection, or clowns. Just imagine what someone like Eda or Principal Bump would be afraid of.
Amity does appear different, but its subtle - originally when she appears in the box next to Willow she was frowning, in the later eps she has kind of a knowing smile
Lilith was a kid, and insecure, and she didn't know, that the curse will be permanent (she thought it was just for a day), I have a feeling, maybe someone showed her the curse and convinced her to do it, (maybe Amity's mom, she was in the background in the flashback) Disney was scared about LGBTQ content for a long time and probably will still be a long way til there will be a good representation on their part (I think).
For 20/30 years she could have shared the curse with Eda and didn’t And Dana said Eda’s in her 40s but the curse had her age more rapidly. So Lilith could have cost her decades of her lifespan Lilith’s a great character but it’ll take A LOT for me to forgive her for that.

He He was allergic to flowers, but I forgot that at the time, so he went to the hospital and his condition got worst. Did he forgive me? No, his condition before was already bad and the allergic reaction made it worst. But did he understand me? Yes, he understood me knowing that i didn't mean to him to get worst and didn't hold a grudge against me. Today me and him are still friends. Lilith case is a little bit more drastic, but still the same at a basic level.
It was the quote from Belos that convinced her, "Greatness requires sacrifice" or however it went. That just goes to show how ingrained his teachings are into the society of the Boiling Isles and how great of a manipulator he was, if he could get her to do that without even having met each other.
*Enchanting Grom Fright* and *Wing It Like Witches* are my favorite episodes of the show so far! Can't wait to see more episodes like this in *Season 2!*
I know a lot of people want to see Boscha have a redemption arc, but honestly I think she could be even better as a real threatening antagonist. Like, if they actually give her a legit backstory and some strong character development we could have the next Azula on our hands. I mean...they both have the same haircut.
Notice how in episode 17 when amity was sitting by willow and luz in eda's home she was sitting closer to luz then she was willow and amity was also blushing that girl has found the girl of her dreams
Can I recommend "The Dragon Prince" if you haven't seen it yet. Or at le was st react to seasons 4 and so on when they release. Btw there is a book that takes place after season 3 and probably before season 4. Which I am REALLY GLAD that I read.
What I love about the Owl House is how it's learned from the lessons of its predecessors. I can't remember the name of the showrunner, but they said something like "Look, I don't like romantic subplots. I don't do that. So don't expect it to be like A Big Thing. But I absolutely will not hear of het-washing this neither. There is going to be no 'aw aren't they cute friends', Amity is romantically attracted to Luz, don't argue." And that's what we get. It's not the focus of much of anything (grom partially excluded, but even then it's like flavouring to the A and B plots more than the focus, Amity's fear *could've* been anything and the episode would still work with little editing). But it cannot be remotely mistaken for anything else. It's not coding (though the gay panic is, apparently it's not that Luz is a girl that's the problem, but that she's human), it's not subtle or coy, it's a full blown Charlie Brown style crush try to keep up with *that* censors!
You gotta understand... Bosh is where Amity was at the beginning of the season. You don't have to see any redemptive potential in her, that's fair. But some people do. Some people think that with the right kind of support, Bosh could pull out of the nonsense like Amity did. But she'd need her own Luz. Except she's worse than Amity, and Amity already had Willow that's why she's less of a dick, so Bosh obviously needs pure Willow. It's not my ship, but I can at least see it, yano?
LIlith is... hard. I like to think on her as an ex-nazi (as opposed to a former nazi). Like, not only were they kids, but we really have to understand what the Emperor's coven is. It's a cult. And when they were kids, it was a new cult. Lilith has had a lot of time to wallow in sunk cost and her sins. She knows better than anyone what happens to people who cross the Emperor; oftentimes she was the chief enforcer. So she was trying to square the circle, find the best solution to undo her mistakes without anyone having to die. When another, better, way presented itself she took it. It says everything and nothing. So I treat her like any other reformed fascist. This is what I wanted, I wanted her to stop being a fascist. I don't *like* her, I'll probably never trust her, but if she continues to be reformed I will let her be. "Stop being a fascist" is really all I want from people. This is good practice for putting my ass where my morals are, yano?
On a rewatch you really start to grok just how *new* this new world order is. The Emperor was not the Emperor when Lilith and Eda were kids. The way they talk about The Before Times makes it sound like us to Arthurian times, but it's not. It's us to WWII. There are people alive in that world that remember Before. It *wasn't* that long ago, and Belos' reign is *not* as stable as he likes to pretend it is.
The way I've always thought of it is that the romance has clearly never been much of a priority for the show's writers, but at the same time they also don't care at all about hiding it or maintaining any kind of plausible deniability for the network (like the cops from Gravity Falls suffered through). So it gets to the point, especially in Wing It Like Witches, where I honestly want to know what the people (and you know there are a few) who are determined not to see any gay vibes think is going on.

People ship Willow and Bascha on the tsundere principle, the idea being she targets Willow because she likes her snd doesn't know how to process it. It's not a theory I like because that behavior stops being logical around age 10-12 and is arguably never okay but thats the logic behind it

Take the first letter of every episode title and it says a sentence. There is also a code hidden in the episodes. I dont remember what it is. There is a video explaining it.
Boschlow is just a fanon ship where Boscha is a good person or becoming a good person and Willow helps her as they get closer and heal but its just fanonwise so dont stress too much on trying to understand the canon dynamic cause it just doesnt compare. But ship and let ship🤷♀️

Also if you put togheter the first letter of the name of each episode it makes another code that says: "A witch loses a true way" wich can be refereing to Luz losing her way home or eda losing her way of doing magic.
The fandom has some interesting choice in ships. I'm right there with you on the Boschlow. The second most popular ship on Ao3 is Emira and Viney. Who have never shared screen time and who knows if they actually know each other in the canon. I mean shippers going to ship (and I'm not going to hold it against them) but I just find it funny that those two are the second most popular pairing on Ao3. Nice to see someone else who also can't figure out how they feel about Lilith. (or did?). Eda's curse hits far too close to home since we're still playing the game of 'what the heck do I have' that I mentioned in your reaction to Intruder months ago. So I was uh not happy with Lilith. Though I was happy with the choice with Eda and not just to slap a magic bandaid on the curse and act like it didn't exist. Like a lot of fantasy writers tend to do. And what I was fully expecting to happen during YBOS. And I actually did lose it when I realized they had just changed what Eda represents. Still a standing for chronic illness but now possibly exploration of adaptiveness beyond just Luz which makes me excited. Anyways I got off track but 'm open to changing my mind and a full blown redemption arc. I don't know if you saw Infinity Train. Good show. No gay or lesbian couples as of right now. Though there is speculation surrounding next season's protagonists. And they do have another protag in Season 2 who is a lot of things but I bring up because I've seen a number of people read as a metaphor for gender issues. Anyways I bring it up because one of the portags for S3 I did not like at the start of it and my opinion had flipped by the end. They were a good example of what could be coming for Lilith and I trust Dana to do to an extent. So opinions can change.

Watching the last two episodes back-to-back, yeah I agree that Lilith got off just a TAD too easy. Not to some 'she should have died/been petrified/cursed' extent, but more we needed more of a cathartic reprisal for what she did last episode. Like there should have been more of a fight where Luz got the chance to verbally rip into her for what she did. Heck, I think Luz getting to just punch her in the face would have done the trick.

Beta was the orginal designs and everyone is love with the beta characters and I thnk many people immediatley related beta lumity to Tori and Jade from Victorious. I dont think they're is much of a backstory. If you look it up on youtube i think you could find a bit more about it

When I was 16 i sent flowers to one of my friends that was sick. He He was allergic to flowers, but I forgot that at the time, so he went to the hospital and his condition got worst.
Did he forgive me? No, his condition before was already bad and the allergic reaction made it worst.
But did he understand me? Yes, he understood me knowing that i didn't mean to him to get worst and didn't hold a grudge against me.
Today me and him are still friends. Lilith case is a little bit more drastic, but still the same at a basic level.

What I love about the Owl House is how it's learned from the lessons of its predecessors.
I can't remember the name of the showrunner, but they said something like "Look, I don't like romantic subplots. I don't do that. So don't expect it to be like A Big Thing. But I absolutely will not hear of het-washing this neither. There is going to be no 'aw aren't they cute friends', Amity is romantically attracted to Luz, don't argue."
And that's what we get. It's not the focus of much of anything (grom partially excluded, but even then it's like flavouring to the A and B plots more than the focus, Amity's fear *could've* been anything and the episode would still work with little editing). But it cannot be remotely mistaken for anything else. It's not coding (though the gay panic is, apparently it's not that Luz is a girl that's the problem, but that she's human), it's not subtle or coy, it's a full blown Charlie Brown style crush try to keep up with *that* censors!
You gotta understand... Bosh is where Amity was at the beginning of the season.
You don't have to see any redemptive potential in her, that's fair. But some people do. Some people think that with the right kind of support, Bosh could pull out of the nonsense like Amity did. But she'd need her own Luz. Except she's worse than Amity, and Amity already had Willow that's why she's less of a dick, so Bosh obviously needs pure Willow.

LIlith is... hard.
I like to think on her as an ex-nazi (as opposed to a former nazi). Like, not only were they kids, but we really have to understand what the Emperor's coven is. It's a cult. And when they were kids, it was a new cult.
Lilith has had a lot of time to wallow in sunk cost and her sins. She knows better than anyone what happens to people who cross the Emperor; oftentimes she was the chief enforcer. So she was trying to square the circle, find the best solution to undo her mistakes without anyone having to die.
When another, better, way presented itself she took it.
It says everything and nothing.
So I treat her like any other reformed fascist. This is what I wanted, I wanted her to stop being a fascist. I don't *like* her, I'll probably never trust her, but if she continues to be reformed I will let her be. "Stop being a fascist" is really all I want from people. This is good practice for putting my ass where my morals are, yano?
On a rewatch you really start to grok just how *new* this new world order is.
The Emperor was not the Emperor when Lilith and Eda were kids.
The way they talk about The Before Times makes it sound like us to Arthurian times, but it's not. It's us to WWII. There are people alive in that world that remember Before. It *wasn't* that long ago, and Belos' reign is *not* as stable as he likes to pretend it is.
The way I've always thought of it is that the romance has clearly never been much of a priority for the show's writers, but at the same time they also don't care at all about hiding it or maintaining any kind of plausible deniability for the network (like the cops from Gravity Falls suffered through). So it gets to the point, especially in Wing It Like Witches, where I honestly want to know what the people (and you know there are a few) who are determined not to see any gay vibes think is going on.
@@jessielefey Eda and Lilith are only in their late 30s; Belos has been Emperor for 50. They grew up in a world where, to them, the coven system had always been The Way. Apparently, things were so bad during the Savage Ages that people HAPPILY accepted Belos's rule.

Oh man, my emotions really messed me up with these final four episodes!
BTW not sure if you've noticed but there's hidden pieces of code hidden in ecah episode and in the end of the season the complete message says: "Two witches torn apart, now alone. Two hearts of stone, a curse of feathers and mud. A betrayl of blood" wich is most likely refreing to eda and lilith's situation. Also if you put togheter the first letter of the name of each episode it makes another code that says: "A witch loses a true way" wich can be refereing to Luz losing her way home or eda losing her way of doing magic.

The fandom has some interesting choice in ships. I'm right there with you on the Boschlow. The second most popular ship on Ao3 is Emira and Viney. Who have never shared screen time and who knows if they actually know each other in the canon.
I mean shippers going to ship (and I'm not going to hold it against them) but I just find it funny that those two are the second most popular pairing on Ao3.
Nice to see someone else who also can't figure out how they feel about Lilith. (or did?). Eda's curse hits far too close to home since we're still playing the game of 'what the heck do I have' that I mentioned in your reaction to Intruder months ago. So I was uh not happy with Lilith.
Though I was happy with the choice with Eda and not just to slap a magic bandaid on the curse and act like it didn't exist. Like a lot of fantasy writers tend to do. And what I was fully expecting to happen during YBOS. And I actually did lose it when I realized they had just changed what Eda represents. Still a standing for chronic illness but now possibly exploration of adaptiveness beyond just Luz which makes me excited.
Anyways I got off track but 'm open to changing my mind and a full blown redemption arc. I don't know if you saw Infinity Train. Good show. No gay or lesbian couples as of right now. Though there is speculation surrounding next season's protagonists. And they do have another protag in Season 2 who is a lot of things but I bring up because I've seen a number of people read as a metaphor for gender issues. Anyways I bring it up because one of the portags for S3 I did not like at the start of it and my opinion had flipped by the end. They were a good example of what could be coming for Lilith and I trust Dana to do to an extent.
So opinions can change.
I'm sure reguardless of what season 2 has to offer, its gonna hit us with all the feelings and make us understand characters and sympathize with characters we originally disliked. It seemed to be a recurring theme in season 1. I have Infinity Train added to my list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Watching the last two episodes back-to-back, yeah I agree that Lilith got off just a TAD too easy. Not to some 'she should have died/been petrified/cursed' extent, but more we needed more of a cathartic reprisal for what she did last episode. Like there should have been more of a fight where Luz got the chance to verbally rip into her for what she did. Heck, I think Luz getting to just punch her in the face would have done the trick.
