    Thank you, I lost use of my pinky on my right fret hand when I was stabbed in a robbery at 25, and switched from guitar to drums as my main instrument, over the years I kept playing of course as guitar is my true love, I've recovered about 75% of my playing ability and have always continued to write on guitar and bass guitar. What an inspiring lesson, managed it all without my pinky, thank you very much Joscho.

    6:05 i wonder how we can use that right hand technique on fast tempos, the sound is so cool and the instrument must sound like that but looks so easier with alternate picking....

    Thank you! I really liked the lick you picked for this lesson and the simple strategy you explained in Section 2 for dealing with transposing licks with lots of open strings especially. The new graphics/chapter headings look great too I think.

    Wow. After training myself for years and years to do only alternate picking, this exercise is really difficult for me. I can do it easily with pure alternate picking but I really want to learn your secrets for accurate right hand technique. It's been a weak spot of mine that I really want to correct.

      if you rest stroke, the sweeps become naturally accessible. the difference between alternate picking and rest stroke looks subtle at first but when you start learning the latter, you'll realize the difference in tone and feel.
      i hope this leads you to the right direction.

    Anybody thinking they can learn to play like Joscho, give it up now. He's from a different planet.

      So negative! I'll never play like Joscho, but I can learn from him and do my own thing. Plus, there's a huge community of guitarist as good or better. If they can do it, so can you, with enough practice and passion.

      Well no you cant play exactly like him. But John petrucci cant either and joscho cant play like petrucci. So....

    I have a question. Do you play scales upwards i mean from E1 to E2 also using economy picking (always starting with downstrokes or reversed version with starting with upstrokes) or alternating picking?

    Looks like traditional gypsy picking did not apply here.

    I can't help but feel that Django would shake his head at players just learning his licks instead of coming up with their own

    • @johnrothfield6126
      @johnrothfield6126 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tradition. I bet this lick has been common for hundred of years in Baroque etc. There is something to learn here...

    • @j.garnergtr
      @j.garnergtr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'd bet this was part of the standard vocabulary. But, I do get what you're saying.
