Interesting place, hadn't heard of it before. But then, having grown up in DC, I spent most of my time on the MD side of the river (numerous trips to Great Falls, White's Ferry, Point of Rocks and such, far fewer to the VA side). Were you around for Agnes back in '72? Aside from the highest high-water mark at White's Ferry (second floor window), she also washed out the bridges on the MD side of Great Falls, and dug a new channel by Chain Bridge. A friend of mine lived in Arlington, he crossed Chain Bridge just before they closed it due to the high water (crested a few feet below the bridge deck, flooded Canal Road).

Yes interesting never heard myself. I was around then but little boy. I will ask my parents about that flood. Thank you for watching and ride safe.
My sister lives in Staunton Va. I hope to one day ride to see her from SC on my Vtx 1300c😂
Sounds like a plan, you might have already done the trip. Sorry for responding back late. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
