Awe Eddie yer a wee joy. I'm a 74 yr old Glaswegian and just love visiting all these places, I've only visited 3 of them, so I'm in my element. Thank you.x
Outside fort Augustus way up the top of the mountains there is glendoe dam where a massive drill went from top to bottom and finishes maybe a mile outside fort Augustus it powers 56,000 homes and your not used to fresh air that’s maybe why your system was reacting to it a lot less pollution
Lovely vid Eddie. Wish my area would get some snow!. Those food prices are extortionate, wholly exist to milk the tourists. Shocking. King prawn fried rice!, my fave!.
The canal at Fort Augustus goes through a series of locks which is called a flight. Southwest at Fort William there's an even bigger flight called Neptune's Staircase. A lot of Highland businesses close over the winter, or have truncated hours - they rely on the high footfall in the summer months so it often isn't economical for them to open in the off-season. In the height of summer Fort Augustus is mobbed - I've only ever driven through it as we've never once been able to find parking!! And unfortunately fish and chips is very expensive in the Highlands. In some places like Oban and Mull it's worth the extra money, but not everywhere. Chinese food is always a good choice, and there's Chinese takeaways just about everywhere in the Highlands!
Your camera is so sharp, high definition I was kneeling in front of the telly, feeling I was there with you, as you shuffled along taking care not to slip. I think you haven't caught anything, it is just the cold that is affecting your respiratory system. Happens to me. It's a shame that with eating places closed, and exorbitant prices, this makes it a little unfriendly. They are making it difficult for themselves. At least you enjoyed your Chinese meal, in the Highlands of Scotland. I have been In Pitlochry, if that is where your coach is taking you.
I wonder if they have locals prices for the fish & chips, the cost for eating in appeared very high and I thought the guy that was serving saying the sizes varied was a bit off - so you can get a small fish and chips for the same price as a larger option ??
You're a brave man, visiting the highlands in winter, Eddy. Lots of shops and cafes shut down until Easter Bank Holiday, but honestly, they're all packed out in summer - you wouldn't be able to move from crowds of people if you came then! I'm glad you got some hot food, as you time was running short, there. It would have helped you thaw out a bit. These places are always expensive to eat in - partly, it's because they're on the tourist track. But there are many more, even wilder, more remote and very much more beautiful places still to discover, farther north and west, you'll be pleased to hear. Maybe bring your girl and a car - then you can share the world's most romantic scenery, such as the North Coast 500 - or do a reaction video to it, at least: th-cam.com/video/puhQ2owLOsM/w-d-xo.html !!
Shameful they rip tourists off with those prices, if all the tourists done what you did and walk out, they'd soon bring their prices down. Greedy people who give Scotland a bad name.
