I'm really digging your channel. This is the type of stuff I love to watch. Some of the other channels I regularly watch started getting too arrogant and complacent, so I'm happy to find level-headed, good dudes to watch instead. Making sure to hit the thumbs up on every video.
I'm with you brother. I like watching the guys I can relate to. A lot of these you tubers start getting those big advertising checks, build a new huge shop ( large enough to fit their swollen heads), and they start flashing their cash , totally losing track of where they came from.
Best place i found for cardboard is behind furniture stores, they always have very large pieces of it. Couches come in big boxes... Oh and lots of big stryfom too... Hope this helps you guys Great job on this conversion Love it.
I like that you take the time to clean up in between the tasks you do to get this shop truck together. It makes it much easier if you're not tripping over debris and keeps the build going smoothly too.
Looks good it's bad azz, like 👍 it as low as you can get it also a tall chrome bumper like chrome moffia builds and notching the look perfect. Good video.
Man can’t wait till the next video ! Love the channel !! Definitely one of my favorite Channels ! Can’t wait to see the future builds especially if it’s stuff like this !!!
this was great. every one of these IH builds that I watch, people always weld in metal to cover the engine in the cab. Its my thought that why make it harder to work on the engine later? Just build an engine cover that can be removed. You did it right. nice metal work.
I myself love the angle grinder, the satisfaction gained once I got the hang of it is worth it, was a bit scary at first I would admit 😊 Firewalls looking awesome 👌
@frankfurther3828 True. I didn't hurt the old lift, but I probably should have moved it. I was avoiding throwing sparks on the Mercury Comet back there, so the forklift had to take one for the team.
@@autocrossratrod Me too! I've had this truck cab sitting around the shop for a while. It definitely feels good to tackle this project, and I can't wait to drive it!
SB, the cab build is looking great. great job getting the new water pump on now. the engine cover and the side pieces looks great. have a couple of beers on me Mate..
Great project, thank you! The smell of a cut off wheel, if you used one you know... I can smell that one from memory. Good luck with it, looking great!
@stealthbuilt1 I enjoy this build brother it's awesome !!!! I love the Ole coes as a retired trucker I have the deepest respect for the the Ole gal !!!! If it could talk !!!! I would listen from the time it rolled down the assembly line to the reviving of it when it's finished this time around !!!!! The Ole gal has charm and is definitely going to make someone a happy person when she rolls down the road !!!!! It's awesome brother no more words necessary 👏
I've seen a fair number of "build series" project videos and I think the hardest balance I've dealt with in viewing is between "too much detail" and "lack of detail". I really feel like you've got the balance of that zeroed in. Really enjoying seeing the old cab getting fabricated to the "new" chassis.
I was just remembering when I first started working on cars. Highschool in the 80s. No money to buy metal for patching floors, so I would steal road signs. Those things are super thick. Hard to cut and shape, but they made some good floor pans.
@Enter-a-name55 I've bought a couple cars with some interesting "roadside" repairs over the years. We got a baja bug one time that had a 2x6 treated lumber body lift. The wood part was actually done well and painted black, at first sight looked like frame rails... lol! Totally rotten and unsafe, but I give the guy credit for fooling most!
Hell of a nice job! Found ur channel looking for International stuff. Im just a old MiniTruck guy from way back wish i took fabrication more seriously back then as id love to be at ur level.
Awesome build! Being a Driveway DIYer, I enjoy seeing the best tools being brought to bear. I wonder about making the inside firewall bulge into a "doghouse" like the old chevy vans, since the oil pressure and camshaft sensors are there.
For you corrugated cardboard folding dilemma,,, I just buy poster board from the local dollar store. Its just nice thick paper basically. Cuts and folds easily. I know it's not free like cardboard boxes, but its so much nicer to work with. I like for the different colors. That way I can color coordinate my parts. Just adding my two cents. Keep at it boys. Im really enjoying this van your building.
I watch A LOT of these type videos and have to say,,,, I am impressed!!!!! Interested to see what you will use for a seal and for insulation. I watched a build similar to this several years ago. The builder made the dog-house out of fiberglass. He said he didn't really like it when finished, as it was too heavy, but he moulded in a stereo unit with 7" or bigger screen and said fitting it in glass would make it extremely custom. I don't know what ever happened to that build. The channel disappeared.
@lakesideguitars If the engine looked cooler, I'd do it! My shop works with a lot of plastics, thermo forming, carbon fiber and fiberglass, so it could be possible for a future build! 😀
First off I like this channel, I just wanted to mention if you come across some slip sheet material for palletizing vs. Cardboard at least try it for your templates. It helps have your bends match closer to your material you will be using.
Good idea! I was considering just ordering a stack from a supply company. I was just using all the waste cardboard from my shop neighbor, but they moved!
Interesting build. On the cardboard request..............too funny................I own an Airstream restoration shop & we use cardboard for patterns all the time. Believe it or not, Sam's Club is a great free source for 4' X 4' "shirt cardboard" which is not corrugated. Sam's toilet paper & paper towel suppliers use it to stack their products on pallets. Sam's just throw it away, so every time I go to Sam's, I head to the paper products aisle & yank the cardboard dividers out from between the toilet paper bundles. The associates at the door look at me a bit funny when I leave with a stack of cardboard along with one item that I purchased. : )
For your card board what you should do is get a roll of ram board. It is great and last forever. Home Depot sells it and they also have their own brand
You can buy rolls of 1/16 inch thick cardboard flooring protector that doesn't have the corrugations in the middle. I find it perfect for making templates for sheet metal. ✌️
If your looking for cardboard Home Depot or Lowe’s has this stuff called ram board it’s in a big roll It’s cheap really nice to work with it’s not corrugated so it’s easier to cut and stuff then normal cardboard
Where do you plan on hiding the electronics and integrating the dash area and computer controlled accessories such as airbags, a/c, radio, etc without it existing?
@stevewomeldurf8591 The electronics will be sorted soon, so we will see. I'm planning for the fusebox to be on the passenger side and probably some stuff under the seat. The work van only had a steering wheel airbag and we are changing that wheel. AC, I'm planning to run a vintage air kit possibly, for its compact size.
