Personally, I think Toby is being very sneaky with his wording in a lot of the 'update' section. Given the timeline we have so far, he's got something up his sleeve. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't this year, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we got a release date announcement in September.
But the 'lack of story' in a chapter with a dark world in the Dreemurr house... I'm not buying it, Toby!
Maybe he means more along the lines of the hero's journey and the roaring knight/prophecy stuff, because I can see this being more of a chapter about the family with some fun TV adventures thrown in. Also, any deep lore in the secret boss questline he would obviously be quiet about, where's the fun in a secret boss not being secret? lol

Right and people on twitter were so mad bc there was a "lack of story" like dawg, this is the same chapter where Toriel might kill Undyne, the chp takes place in the Dreemurr home, and where the game will likely talk about Kris' relationship with their brother and parents lmao. I wouldn't be surprised if there also were tapes of Asriel and Kris in this chp aswell as a reference to the TV from Undertale which had tapes of Asriel, Chara, Toriel, and Asgore. A chapter focusing on character development is still story, even if it's not the "main" story. I can already tell this is gonna be one of my fave chapters tbh.
Besides, did everyone suddenly forget Undertale lmao? There was so much humor and funny characters like Sans, Papyrus, and Mettaton while still having alot of story. Toby balanced it so well imo. Having funny sections of the game is what makes characters so memorable and makes you attached to them. Chp 4-7 will probably be all lore and story anyway.
