I like to organize my kit into seperate smaller bags (even if just a ziploc) so I can easily add or remove bits based on where i'm riding or if i'm racing etc. helps keep weight down to a minimum and helps keep me from forgetting one small part of say the tire plug kit.
Thank for the vid I stop to carry all my tools on my belt (i have slightly a bit more than you, maybe 3kg) and buy a little bag for my rear fender (Klim) where i put the most heavy, not so often used ones, also a tiny other bag (re Klim but Endurostan is the way to go) beside the petrol plug at the front top of the saddle for the most used (Spaners torx, allen), i feel much more free of my movements, i just carry a old little banana bag ( basic North face) with the zipbagged documents, phone, x2 AA gps batteries , € and energy bars, a backpack with 3 liters of water, 5 liters in summer, start my ride (south Portugal) allready very hydrated, i know all what is where, simple... I ride with mousses (no road ride at all), obviously because of the zero punctures advantage, but also for the huge economy of energy if you need to change/repair a flat, which obviously only occur when is hell hot with no wind (see what i mean...) I have be dehydrated twice, that is not fun... In fact kind of dead scary when sitting in the shade without moving even a single eye and you can't stop your sweating when you are getting closer and closer to run out of water... Riding is fun, but riding safe is much cheaper and hurt less... ps: what is the brand of your "chicken legs" magic adjustable wrench??? Go sushy go

I always have a small pair of locking pliers (mole grips) as I have used in place of a gear lever,clutch lever and locked on a broken throttle cable to get me home on different occasions. The throttle version was a bit tricky as I slowed on left turns and speeded up on rights. For people asking adventurespec do a spark plug holder.
The bag is a Klim Nac Pak and I made a short video review of it here: th-cam.com/video/I0XI_pcnO4Q/w-d-xo.html I haven't calculated the cost of the tools. Most of the tools are pretty cheap. The most expensive is the Knipex pliers wrench tool. I use the tool kit almost every ride, but usually on someone else's bike! I sometimes take all the tools out and go through them tool by toll, reassessing whether each one is really necessary. But the basic kit hasn't changed much and a good starting point if you have a similar bike and ride off-road, away from help.
I purchased mine in Japan from a local tool shop years ago. Possibly you can find something similar on Amazon, or Ebay. Yes it's very nice being able to store the bits in the handle and much safer if it's in your backpack while riding. If you have trouble finding something I could possibly start offering them for sale on the Tokyo Offroad webshop...

Have lived and worked in Japan for 28 years. It's a fun place to live. From busy city life in Tokyo, to remote mountain areas. Over 70% of the land area is mountainous, so there's no shortage of places to ride, no matter where you are. Many places you can ride all day and not see a single person...
Tokyo Offroad - I'm Beyond envious. Locally (SW Ontario Canada) has to be one of the flattest places on earth 🌏. Lots a switchback single track, but very little in the way of hill climbs and mountainous fun. Does your work have anything to do with KTM? Or the off-road scene? I work for a semiconductor company as an electronics engineer. Hobbies including machining (lathe and mill), welding, motorcycle maintenance and of course off-road riding. You can never have enough tool ;-)

If you're using Barkbuster style hand guards I probably wouldn't bother carrying spare levers. I like open guards (flag style)and use Renthal Intellilevers which have proved to be unbreakable in about 4 years of riding. I do keep the original levers in my truck just in case. Good idea regarding the lithium jump start battery for fuel injected bikes.
Mikhail - I keep rim locks (front and rear) in the truck. If the Tubliss system failed while out riding and far from the truck, I'd remove it and replace it with the tube I carry, without a rim lock. No rim lock is fine if you run higher pressure (20psi) so the tire can't slip on the rim. The
floydbanks28 - Very few issues while riding. Most common is punctures. Occasionally crash damage (radiators, or body work). Bent disks if not using guards.

The puncture is understandable, but you have a whole set of keys, heads, screwdrivers, hexagons, you will dismantle the motorcycle in the forest. Maybe I'm wrong, but Japan is a small civilized country, it's easier to call an evacuator! We do not even carry so many instruments with us in Russia, only on a journey.
Антон Писаревский - The rides we do are on mountain trails, up to 40km away from the truck. I'd much rather repair something and ride out, than wait many hours for help. When I ride at a closed course Enduro park I don't carry any tools...
Some people joining our rides carry no tools and as I'm usually the guide I do feel responsible to help get their bikes going again if they require assistance. Hence I carry tube repair patches, many sized sockets, hex and torx.
Tokyo Offroad great reply! I carry a similar kit. 2 suggestions- gorilla tape is alot stronger than duct tape and I always carry super glue. It weighs nothing and is great for cracked plastic. I’ve used it to fix broken helmet visors many times. Keep up the great work.

Found a cool product called the Rock Ready Engineering Bar Pad tool kit.
They stopped making it in 2020, but there is a knock off, called the X grip .
