Nowadays... to be like that means to go through a load of shit... Most people just go with the flow and the ones showing heart become outsiders and are kinda getting blamed for being like that. Money and fame rule the WHOLE world, human heart and instincts matter less and less. It's just my opinion but I'm pretty sure of it - Day X will come...
If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles A hundred miles, a hundred miles A hundred miles, a hundred miles You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles Not a shirt on my back, not a penny to my name And the land that I once loved was not my own Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four Lord I'm five hundred miles away from home A hundred tanks along the square One man stands and stops them there Some day soon, the tide will turn, and I'll be free I'll be free, I'll be free, I'll come home to my country Some day soon the tide will turn and I'll be free If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four Lord I'm five hundred miles away from home Lord I'm five hundred miles away from home
Thanks 500 times for this beautiful song. Am I getting old ..... or is 80's music unsurpassed? Is there anyone else you would like to return to at 80's? Everyone who has left their home is found in this song! This song is amazing... folk, reggae, rock n roll, classic, soul .... all the music is here!
There are many good versions of this wonderful song, but this is my favourite. It really gives me feelings of travel and the struggle to be independent.
Here I stand. In a town along an highway, alone, listening to this song and surrounded by strangers. Thinking about me, about them, the roads we walked and that led us to here, knowing we'll never meet again. Every person has a story, and it's some kind of sadness in seeing how many they are😶
Our music teacher was first to introduce us to this song back in the 1995-96 , we were kid's back then couldn't understand a single word 😢😢. But now after more then 30 years could understand how deep is the song .
The line '..and the land that I once loved is not my own.' chokes me up every time- i was uprooted from my home when my parents died and put into foster care. I'm 52 now and the wounds are still fresh...
I always worry what will happen to my children if something happens to their dad and I. They will go to my cousin but still not the same as mom and dad. I wish you all the best and hope find comfort
I hope in your life that you have found happiness and love. If you see two people walking down the street and one has no legs you know there has been a grievous wound. But the other person, the one with both legs, may also be wounded. Psychic wounds are often not visible physically, but they are surely real.
Peter, Paul and Mary sang harmony vocals on this incredible recording - perfect combination of classic version with a modern update. Awesome piece........
Hold on. It all will end. Your gov has way much more secrets than you think. Ignorance kills, Tim. I hope you and your people will find the way to tear that regime down and gain back the freedom you deserve. Talking as an European teenager, I'd say that we youngsters must learn to claim our rights. Imagine if your people would do this... something spectacular as the Berlin Wall Fall.. wish you the best!!! And most of all, be the wind, not the grass that gets folded under it!
@@thebrokenheartedcowboy8780 Thank you for your willingness to understand what our country is going through, and I am sure it will pass... Like the song says 'someday soon tide will turn'.
Hey, Hi. i have never heard before this incident and i would be very thankful if you could share an authentic article or documentary about why did what happened happen? Thanks in advance
Every generation is cookie cutter. Most labels play it safe by making the same music until that sound is wore out. Agree the Hooters didn't get their due. But maybe that's why we dug them and still do. The Hooters were a bit on the edge of the status quo. And honestly that's where I am, on the outside looking in. Music needs to reach our soul to impact us or we just stick with the fad music and switch to whatever everyone else is listening to. I agree with you 100% my friend.
The 80s were far more consistent than the 2010s lol. It's no challange to find a good, deep, and talented song in the 80s. The 70s to the 90s were the best periods for music.
I first heard this song done by Peter, Paul, and Mary. And I have to say, The Hooters version does manage to keep it pretty haunting, while giving it a more involved melody.
Genau! Bin in den usa aufgewachsen aber ich hab Hooters in Ingolstadt Bayern gehört lol sie sind herrlich. Aber ich muss sagen meine Familie kommt aus schwabenland und Bayern lol 😘
This was made in memory of Tien-An-Men Massacre victims... remember 1989-2020, with all of heart. They were trying to abolish communism and free their brothers and fate gave 'em back a bullet in the heart... now they are 500 miles away from home... I'll pray for you brothers and sisters who gave your life for freedom and liberism... Rest In Peace
1989 and communism? 89' is sad time because chairman mao already died and Jiang Qing's team lost China to Deng Xiaoping who brought capitalism to China and took happiness from chinese people. yankee morons won't ever understand that people like Mao Zedong, Lenin and Bolesław Bierut are superior and loved leaders of democratic nations
Rick Kilimun Peter, Paul and Mary originally recorded this as a folk song back in 1962. The Hooter’s added some lyrics and in my opinion made it a much better version. I don’t say that often. P, P & M are singing back up. I remember Tianenmen Square vividly.
I think, that this song is perfect for today-even now people are leaving their homes, searching for better life.Every time the grass on the other road is greener/.
I was a little kid and heard this song in my Dad’s car. My uncle got the CD and I borrowed it all few weeks 😄 just to hear this song. Until he finally bought me my own CD. This song is 1 year older than me and I love it. It reminds me of a happy version of my dad, freedom, long car rides with window open. Thanks for that memories!
Great song. Reminds me of the time when I was about 15 years old, deillusioned, frustrated and full of sadess. Smoking my tenth zigarette on that day in the middle of the night, standing at my parent's terrace and looking at the moon while listening to this song ...... Unforgetable....

Nowadays trash can't be called music
Today’s music is trash. 80’s music will never be replicated.
This is what you get when you put great musicians and great poets together , unbelieveble beautiful music , Thank you
Well, here I am again. Another year when something some people want to be forgotten, is not forgotten.
The Hooters, The Hollies and Otis Redding. More than enough. 🎶

Really hits the mark in many ways, can't believe this only made #97 on the charts but thankfully Germany kept it on the radio well into the 90's.

Great song & a great band. Songs like that will never ever die
Songs that tell a story are always best. Too much music now is just noise. This is a great version of this old song. Good job , Hooters!
Keine große Show, aber super Lied.
Gebt der Musik mehr Macht, denn sie kann Frieden schaffen.

This Song is a mood.
Just imagen this Song, a yellow/orange sunset, a long road, a motorcycle and only you riding into the west.
