    I mainly use it for concrete cracks, but today I used it for a shower. I had it at 1.5 with blue tape for a cleaner job. The job came out great

    When you're laying lines of adhesive on the back of 4x8 sheets, your hand will start cramping up pretty quickly. This gun will work great. I don't think I would use it for caulking around windows or doors, it might just make a mess of things.

      Thats all I use my m12 caulk gun for at work as a siding installer, it lays the fastest and prettiest beads with no irregularities from having to let go of the trigger. Can’t let the gun outrun you, that’s when things start to get messy

    I have used a lot of different guns over the years. I have found that the anti drip is more in the tube of caulk and not the gun. I heard the air bubble pop, then it did not drip. When you compress the air in the tube it will keep pushing the product out untill it runs out of pressure. It is not always the plunger pushing it out. Nice gun for long term use. Save those forearm muscles.

    I was laying down some vinyl plank flooring on some stairs and my 62-year-old hands were in pain trying to squeeze out the adhesive. I decided to spend the money and got the Ridgid caulking gun and I'm glad I did. It took some getting used to, having never used an electric caulking gun before. I found the right speed and even the hole to cut on the tube and the job was so much easier and faster, which was great for my knees and back (I'm 62, remember?).
    Thinking about this gun for delicate caulking, I think I'd cut the smallest hole I could get away with on the tube and then use the slowest speed and dial up until I found the sweet spot. I certainly understand the sentiment of preferring the feedback of a mechanical gun. I think the electric gun forces you to cut a smaller hole on the tube than you might otherwise cut when using a mechanical gun. A smaller hole seems like it would give you more control, because boy, the first squeeze of the trigger with my new gun and I'm like, whoa, big fella!
    For the bigger jobs, especially with adhesive, this is a hand saver. I haven't used it with caulking yet, but I will be soon. The less squeezing, the better, for these old hands.

    Have the Ryobi version used it to redo my garage with vapour barrier acoustic sealant 30 plus tubes worked great but cleaning was a pain in the ass because the tube holder does not come off but hell it was cheap and well worth the money

    I’m pretty sure you can use the Milwaukee tubes and driveshafts on this gun too. They look pretty similar ! If so, you can buy the high capacity Milwaukee tubes as an accessory for this one.
    These guns are for high volume use of glues, but as you mentioned, rubbish for detail work ...

    The size is alot smaller then the Ryobi version. My Ryobi works fine and i never have any issue with it and for the price i have no complaint. Is just that the Ryobi i use is just stupid massive.

    If you have arthritis in your fingers and or wrist you will love & absolutely appreciate this tool.
    Otherwise keep using the manual guns until you wear out functional body parts.

    I disagree that the adhesive kept coming out because you were on the high-speed setting - it was that air bubble. Once it popped, caulking stopped spewing out after the trigger released. I've done a lot of caulking, and I've come to the conclusion that the air inside any bubble in a tube of caulk will get pressurized when the trigger is squeezed (how could it not?). The higher pressure air in the bubble will continue to force caulk out of the tube until its pressure stabilizes. I've seen it a million times. Once it pops, the caulk stops as soon as you stop applying pressure. It might be tempting to believe the caulking manufacturers deliberately put a bubble in there so we'll be forced to waste their product and need to buy it more often. But then you'd be a conspiracy nut...

    Tip: u are caulking in the wrong direction @ 4:42 - you move fwd with a rolling ball up front to get a perfect squish and a perfect bead out back from the plastic tube, this avoids air bubbles getting in and pulling/tearing the bead as well..

    I love these caulking guns. I have the ryobi one for a few years and it works great. 😁😁😁. I use it every day for concrete roofs here in Puerto Rico U.S.A. will be checking this one out. I will also check their 12 volt one. I heard they have that one also. By the way what's the push max lbs?

  • @evictioncarpentry2628

    You just need to work on the technique a little. I have the M12 version and it makes life easy.
    Because of the anti-drip there is always a 2-3 second delay before material gets pushed out . You get used to it and know how to time your starts.
    They're really the best for large jobs like applying PL to plywood subflooring or concrete brick adhesive. Also makes a more even application.
    When you need to pump out 20 tubes in a row of PL manually, your hands and forearms will thank you for the electric version (because all caulk guns are cordless lol)
    For small jobs, you really need to watch the tip size you cut. It needs to be as small as possible and on a low speed or else it gets messy.

      I use a hand pump gun for silicon as I need to feel the resistance and adjust for what I would call a good bead for my skill level. It would be a shit show with me caulking something with this due to the learning curve of the tool and my lack of ability, LOL, combined with zero feedback.

    • @eosjoe565
      @eosjoe565 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WorkshopAddict For myself I think the battery caulkers would allow me to run a smoother bead, especially on longer runs. When I'm caulking something like a door or window opening my main problem is keeping a continuous smooth bead as working the pistol grip gun caused stops and starts as I change grip positions. This is especially true when working in awkward positions. I agree that a hand operated gun would still be more appropriate for smaller jobs.

    The issue with the ridgid gun is the fact that when you let off the trigger the plunger blows back. It’s doesn’t use the electric motor for and Anti drip it just disengage and the handle blows back. I had this unit and returned it, absolutely a god awful tool

    • @awlthatwoodcrafts8911
      @awlthatwoodcrafts8911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought one the other day and the model I got doesn't jerk back when you release the trigger. I saw another video where it did that and I was surprised to see it do that because mine doesn't. Maybe Ridgid addressed that problem. Not trying to convince you to buy the Ridgid tool again, just wanted to share that the one I got doesn't do the herky-jerky when you release the trigger. If anything, you don't even notice that it did anything until you press the trigger and realize you have to wait for the plunger to apply pressure again.

    (And your caulking skills suck brother...lol)

    • @jayjayhooksch1
      @jayjayhooksch1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking the opposite, for smaller jobs the extra weight and price isn't worth having to squeeze a manual trigger a few times.
      I dunno, I don't think these are practical tools to be honest. To be fair, I haven't been in a job where I need to use one of these for hours on end. I did painting for a few years and I always preferred the tubes of caulk that don't require a gun; far better control and never drips.
