A lot of classical trained musicians are really getting into bluegrass and oldtime music. In the past ten years Iv seen it really take off with them being involved.
Feels so good to get outside the box. As an Irish dadgad guitar player, I enjoy pulling more harmonic variety into old time music , but it isn’t always met with much enthusiasm. Keep opening it up.
It's your opinion but compulsory mixing and deconstructing everything is not everyone's taste. You can throw some techno or rap into a Mozart piece, but the resulting in not classic music.
does anyone know the website to this festival? when i look it up a bunch of "cliftop music festivals" come up and i cant figure out which festival this is. or does anyone know where exactly it is?

I have listened to this rendition many times, maybe as much as 50. Excellent on both parts, Ethan and Tatiana. Just excellent!

It's really a pearl dear Tatiana and Ethan ! Down-to-earth music as meant to be and last.

Beautiful collaboration!
Instead of taking a seat, she throws a leg up and rest the banjo on her thigh! This girl is a keeper.
Wow. They are fantastic.
this is sooo good
Lol, Bruce Molsky is like "I gotta film this shit."
amazing tune
Just WOW!
I was surprised only 21 comments, but glad to see 40,805 views at the moment. I really liked this.
Diggin' the bowed bass!
Sounds great
I love when Tatiana trades her fiddle for a banjo, which Allison de Groot hands to her. 4:00
Amazing!!!!!!
I like sorry missed this! I need to leave my camp area more often!
the guy in the black vest's reaction at 3:02 says it all
Very expressive composition - might serve nicely as a movie soundtrack.
Ah at last. Bowed bass . It's full potential. With the bow for which it was designed. Not relegated to an obscure tonic dominant plonk!
Close your eyes, you're in Ireland!
That is quite something...
favoloso
Anyone have any idea what Ethan has going up there on the scroll of his bass?
It's an extension that allows you to go below the (usual) lowest note on the string. He also uses a different tuning than standard.

Appalachian String Band festival at Camp Washington Carver, West Virginia
exceptional...like a mouth full of hot chocolate chip cookies.....ummm ummm good.
She is cute as all, I just want to grab her and hug her.
Mouth hanging open ...
Can't compare to a traditional tune.
Right -- apples and oranges. These exceptionally talented players take the music to a different level.
@@snotpu I’d say a different place rather than a different level.? The old tunes survive for a reason.
Plus ca Change.
