Receiving a Parkinson’s diagnosis when you’re young is overwhelming enough. Being a woman with a Parkinson's diagnosis adds an additional layer of complexities and challenges. In this panel discussion, the first of our new YOPD Women series, our YOPD Women's Council and special guest Kathleen Reardon discussed:
    - The road to their Parkinson's diagnosis
    - The differences between men and women when it comes to symptoms and medications
    - The importance of advocating for yourself and finding the right doctor
    - Finding joy through new creative pursuits

As I go along in my Parkinson's journey I am learning so much on this site about alot of in's and out's of Parkinson's. I suffer from slowness stiffness apathy to the T and alot of anxiety. I had no idea that anxiety can be a "off period" symptom.

I began at 34 with noodles feeling legs. I'm 59 now and still not diagnosed. I had 2 years of bad shoulder pain that's fine now. I walk backwards if I raise my arms...there's more...

I was diagnosed 2004, 20 years ago, I was 43, everyday at 6 am I attend aerobics and suddenly one day, I just can’t follow the dance step and I was so worried why? Why can’t I? I went to doctor and I was referred to neurologist, a lot of testing, elimination, different laboratories . Until after 8 months, I was put to take carbidopa levodopa and after 15 days I returned to the neurologist told her I’m so normal again, the med work and so she said that med I took is for Parkinson’s, so I got diagnosed finally

Thanks for sharing your diagnosis story. So many people have difficulty receiving an explanation for the symptoms they experience and these experiences are difficult but important to talk about.
