honestly, that ruler is the most innovative invention for multitools yet in my opinion and im quite hyped to get it, followed by the T shank holder I really wish Roxon will start to use premium Materials / Steel
Bushcrafter/outdoors persons perspective. - Pen and tweezers (need small hole for a needle) - Carving tools, chip carver/gouge/hook knife - Awl/reamer that is slimmer/less tapered for drilling wood - Gimlet would be a cool idea as well simmilar to the punch 7:14 but rounded all the way down to the base - T shank very good idea! (can carry additional tools in pouch and have space for other tools in the flex) - main blade that with a belly/not sheepsfoot Thanks to Roxon for the good work and listening to the buyers, it shows :)
@@kringsja9913 What I would love to see: 1. pen and tweezers insert upgraded to hold a needle (as mentioned by @kringsja9913) 2. MAGNIFYING GLASS (and yes, I know it would be very small) 3. flashlight that takes 2 slots, maaaaaybe 3. It is doable. Alternatively, flashlight that can be mounted outside of the frame, i.e. instead of pocket clip 4. 4mm hex bit holder 5. scalpel blade holder 6. separate, huge, powerful magnet. It can take 5 slots for all I care And for the ones included in the video: 1. T-shank holder 2. ruler 3. pen and tweezers (with upgrade described above) 4. flashlight (with upgrade described above) 5. everything else
First off, I think it’s epic that Roxxon recognises your influence and the ideas that can flow through you from the community. I do like a package opener, not for safety but just so I don’t end up with a gummed up sticky blade
Top three for us is the T-Shank Holder, Package Opener, and Ruler. --It'd be nice if they had a short-tool option to sit in the t-shank holder so it didn't just have to sit empty and useless until you needed it for a saw -- The package opener could be more efficient if you just added one other feature to it, like a wire-stripper, then you wouldn't need to buy the chisel tool if you didn't need a chisel. -- The ruler with a stronger magnet would be amazing. We just couldn't figure out how the protractor works. A fantastic update! Thanks! We may end up having to grab a second base unit just to keep an updated tool set at the ready.
Another thought: Variable sized wrench? Could likely fit in 2-3 layers. Racheting bit driver? Basically a 711L in place of the inline driver. Could also be cool. Also, another vote for a magnifier. I just used the one on my SAK Explorer today to read the tiny markings on a dead light bulb.
How about a rotating head 1/4" hex drive. And yeah 3 slots. So you can chose the positioning towards sideways or inline. Because for the moment the 711L can be used in the current driver however yeah 4 slots and also no inline ratchet... As for the wrench I'm all for it. I think there various ways to do them depending on the uses. I don't know if the locking system can get a lot of torque or not.
Pen and tweezer!!! Just add a spot for a straight pin. I will be getting it. Ruler is awesome as well. I’ll probably be getting most of these honestly.
my gf heard your voice (knows your and hvac) and yelled out “you don’t need that” 🙄 I totally understand why 6th graders hate their teachers. I totally agree with your choices, can’t wait to get mine. I don’t care what the fun police thinks, I need this Roxon 👍 thank you for your vids 👊
I love the tshank and package opener. I would love to see a marlin spike. Perhaps also different options of blade steels for the knives. Beyond this, I would love a thicker version with 2-3 large tool slots, snd a single handle version to make (I believe) the first modular swiss army knife competitor. Perhaps even setting it up so the full length tshank blades fit. Adiitonally, id like them to take a look at the tolerances of their tool. I just got my preorder, and the knife wiggles a lot, almost unusably so, but to fix that, it makes everything so tight that you cannot deploy the tools anymore.
I agree with all of your assessments. One thing I would add: I LOVE LOVE that ruler. I really love old school folding rulers (Zollstock), and I would say that they should create indents or some sort of mechanism found in the old folding ruler design to keep the ruler fully open like a ball detent or some sort of spring mechanism!
Here's a few wild ideas for current/new stuff (I will be adding more stuff as I come up with them). Can't promise all of them will be useful or viable: - Not sure if the 1/4" bit driver can be locked at a 90deg angle. If not - it would be cool to rework it - Perhaps a 4mm mini hex bit socket? - A whistle - Maybe a ceramic implement to accompany diamond files? - Maybe an implement with a chuck to hold deburring knives, but this one is totally off the rails. - A small fork to go into that t-shank holder. Heck, so many tools could be adapted for that. - Perhaps versions of bodies with different plier types? I would welcome a regular plier head with a front grip, like in a Knipex 82 01 200? Or a very fine, rounded needlenose plier head for more delicate work or wire bending? Maybe pliers with swappable jaws for different kinds of work? Combo pliers with a flush cutter section? So many options here. - Maybe a small set of calipers, like on the messograf pen? - A nail clipper - A crazy one, I know, but maybe a set of feeler, radius and thread gauges? - Maybe a precise spirit level (long implement)? - A telescopic implement with a magnet at the end? - Maybe a pencil sharpener and/or sharpener for thicker graphite leads for automatic pencils.
This is why I am waiting to order mine. I knew more tools would be added. 😀 I am so happy that I was right. Can't wait for the video. OMG, is that a T Shank adapter? Ok, I just seen the T shank file and saw. I am really excited now. 😅🤯 Oooo, and a package opener, so if you want to go Knifeless, you can use the package opener. I am extremely excited. 😁
My personal tools priority are: Scissors Nail file Phillips screwdriver, or a 4mm bit holder even better Knife blade, no serrations Scalpel holder A saw, or the t-shank holder Can opener, maybe And that pokey tool if done well And most importantly I hope it's available to order worldwide!!!
1 - T-shank adapter; 2 - Package opener; 3 - pen and tweezer; 4 - Ruler would be my preferences. Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to seeing these tools to add to my order in the near future.
A marketing dream. You can have targeted load-outs for all your users: electrician, fisherman, lock picking etc. Unique selling point is the ability to remove tools and use separately or in conjunction with another tool. E.g ferro rod and striker within the tool. Hell, just add a peanut lighter. I was thinking of a protractor for grid references when you pulled out the ruler; if the markings are in the right place you could use that too. I was thinking also of a magnifying glass or loupe (lenses spaced out). And don't forget the usb memory stick and spare sd card holder. Bet you could get a charging cable in there too. What about a pill pot? Or sewing kit. Stapler? Probably getting carried away now...
I have a goal of getting someone to 3-D print me some scales for my knafs lander with a cut out on the underside for a microSD card under one side and a silver or gold ingot under the other.
A flex with more long slots. A flex with a cork screw option. Ferro rod Whistle 1/4 inch drive (strong magnet to hold the bits, or maybe a hex on one end between the handles to avoid taking up slots) Love the ruler/protractor/magnet & t shank Wire stripper, drill bit / bolt gauge Ideally, any new tool should have 2+ functions.
I used it occasionally on my Swiss Champ in the late '90s... But it was too small to use most of the time I needed it. I had better luck looping the handles around the middle of the whole knife than getting them into that tiny hook. This one looks like it might be about 2x the size... If it can stick out the side like a T-handle, it could be useful.
I was highly anticipating the release of this. My only gripe is that you only get two long tools. So since a knife blade is pretty much required, you really only get one long tool. So since I use scissors so often, I have no room for the saw or anything without carrying it around separately and switching. They absolutely need to make a portable case for extra implements
I work in an office setting and have no need for a t-shank holder. My top 3 are tweezers/pen, package opener, and the ruler/grabber. I already chose the roxon flex specifically because it had a smaller ruler/file already
Tshank holder and quarter inch bitdriver like the one on the leatherman surge clones (maybe with both magnetic and detent hold) would be a must for me!
It exists and is available. It's just lagging in production. According to the customer support email I got when I reached out about my purchase, it should arrive in june
I ordered mine with the 1/4" bit holder and it's good, but takes up 4 small slots. If you order the two slot phillips tool, it has the same square shape that holds the older 4mm socket to bit adapters that the other roxon models employ. That's what I end up doing more so than using the full 1/4" adapter.
Out of these, my list would be: 1. Ruler/compass/grabber just because it is uncommon and see some good use for it. 2. T-shank 3. Package opener 4. Tweezers/ pen I think a cool tool would be a mini caliper . I think I've used mine the most to measure things that are only a few millimeters.
Hey the ruler/magnetic pickup tool was my suggestion to them when they opened their feedback on the website. So excited to see a prototype for it, and they even improved my idea with a protractor!
T-shank holder can be used as an interface for a variety of shorter tools, instead of only having options which take up a slot. It could lead to a multitude of accessories which would be cheaper and simpler to produce. I also would recommend a pull style can opener instead of push style (pull style also works as clamshell opener). Any glass breaker should have a real carbide bearing, hardened steel is worthless for that task.
I like the package hook for pulling out tent stakes and storing a 3mm magnet. and the awl/punch for help with undoing tight knots. But both have a million and one uses.
I like the micro tool holder, although I think I will add sim card ejector and a pin nail, so 4 tools and ideal in a multitool. I would add also in random order A nail clipper - 2 slots A 1/4" Socket driver- 2 slots A carabiner / nail puller / strike surface / opener 3 slots An auto wrench 3 slots (it's similar to the ones fitted in those titanium pry bar multitools) A mini electrician knife 1 slot A multi wrench 1 slot (4 to 10 mm) A waterproof USB drive for TF cards 3 slots. As for priority tool T shank holder Folding ruler Hook Package opener Comb I love a flashlight but yeah it's terrible and as much I like that sort of stuff in a multitool, I think this is not the best way to do it, mostly it taking 4 slots... For me the best is to have a combo tool. I have one of the smallest telemeter, a 4 slot tool with light, laser, electronic level, and time functions can justify the slots needed my telemeter mesures 55 mm ( a bit more than 2 inches) long 12 mm thick and 22 mm wide. So with sevral adjustments it's possible, and even if the Led isn't that strong it makes up for the other tools and usb rechargeable. The other tool is electronic pressure gauge with similar functions as the measure tool Something that can accomodate a volty style electrician micro multimeter For less than 15v it can measure direct voltage with polartity, then it's non contact for high power and can check continuity. With USB recharge and 3 ~ 4 slots it can be super useful. I would like some tools like folding mini pliers, scissors, wire strippers, even if they will take 2 slots and have the handle that will stick out. You can get something with a descent size without taking the main big slots As for the other suggestions, more frames, larger ones and also smaller ones with also different tools ( slip joint pliers, shears, wire stripper head, etc...) Tool bars of various sizes and lengths So even if I carry a multitool with a plier i can also have the bar and bit ans sockets with me. I think this tool system is the best thing to come in the multiverse 😊.
My personal favorites listed here 1) pen + tweezer kit (very general purpose, pen is ALWAYS useful when you need it) 2) Protractor/ruler/magnet (I like measuring stuff and magnets are amazing to have) 3) T-Shank holder (near infinite use depending on what you put in it) Other ideas: - a USB memory stick (doesn't need to be a lot of memory, few GB) as opposed to the flashlight. There was a Victorinox thing that had a USB stick in it I always wanted. -- there are other things you could in theory put here, USB-C to 3.0 converter (or lightning for apple users). - I know patents are a thing, but some kind of off-brand way to use Leatherman bits (or even standard hex head bits) - I also like the SOG thing mentioned in the video
T shank and ruler are excellent additions! I wonder if the t-shank could ship with an adapter that would allow it to accept leatherman bits too. That way you could carry a double ended bit in the short slot until you needed to use the longer purpose built t-shank stuff
How about a handle that goes in the sheath that can hold file or other tools? Where the handle of the multi tool may be two big to fit where you need the fact
From a manufacturing engineering perspective: 1/4 bit driver A GOOD file Scissors T-shank Scalpel holder I really like the idea of that ruler The parcel hook could be useful I keep a knife/flashlight/prybar on me, so there is no need to duplicate in a tool (for me, at least). Its exciting to see this platform develop.
Definitely a yes on the package opener and t shank holder. Need a 4mm bit driver that's thinner than the 0.25 inch, need a wire stripper like the SOG, need a larger/wider flex plus that has four or six long tool slots in total, need angle cutter or cable cutter or shears pliers that can be swapped out with the standard pliers head pen and tweezer are nice, hook is nice, ruler with magnet is nice, firearm tools a neat 300 or more lumen flashlight would be tough to do but would be a great addition
New tool suggestions: Removable pry bar, sharpening ceramic, handcuff key, auger bit for drilling. A clone for the leatherman bit drivers , mini Bogota lock picks.
Hey, Dom, I really appreciate that you take so much trouble to examine and discuss these things in detail. I think your ranking was pretty spot on. I want to add that, in re your analysis of how the t-shank holder fits, with my Surge, I quickly decided that I would keep the file in the tool but carry in the sheath a significantly longer wood saw blade. So, I hope that Roxon will have a sheath that will have extra compartments so that several other tools can easily (neatly & handily) be carried with the Flex. I guess that I should add that the t-shank holder and the ruler/protractor are definitely two tools I would get to go with the Flex I order, and their availability will trigger my order if I haven't already gotten the Flex by the time they become available.
Very cool opportunity to interact with the roxon team. Thanks for enabling it. I cast another vote for 4 mm driver, esp. if it can be done using fewer slots than the 1/4 inch. Also a mini utility blade holder (the small ones with one hole). Plastic blanks that one can customize i.e. as sanding sticks by gluing sandpaper of different grit. Cheers!
Was the mini punch not for an AR platform's firing pin retaining pin? It looks perfect for that little thing 😆 The pen and Tweaser would be a top priority for me. I carry a Victorinox primarily for the tweezers. TShank holder is high for me too. Then said AR Tool Then the package opener for cutting small zip ties and cordage. Sometimes i can't fit a larger knife into the work space i have, so I appreciate narrow cutting implements that i can just pull through.
1 - pen and tweezer; 2 - Ruler; 3-Package opener; 4- T-shank adapter; 5-comb would be my preferences. I would order this 5 tools immediately when i can order it.
I'm planning to get a Flex when they come out with the bar version. I don't need pliers, but I'd definitely use a bar version I can trick out. Tools: T-shank: Hell yes. Ruler/protractor: Hell yes. Gun tools: Eh, I don't do guns. Not interested. Punch: however, if that were a bit sharper, I could use it as a leather punch for leather work. That would be great, and much better suited than the awl/reamer. Hook: I'm one of those weirdos that does actually use the hook on my SAK, so I'd love one here. It looks good. My concern is that the SAK hook is in the middle, making the SAK a handle. It don't know how you could do that with this design, which would make it less useful. With the hook inline with the handle it can't really be weight bearing. Package opener: probably good, though not the top priority when I have the craft blade holder. Pen: Honestly, yes, this is important. I wish you'd shown more of it to know how good it is. Less important in plier configuration, but for bar EDC, I use the pen in my SAKs surprisingly often. Comb: it's a gimmick, but we knew it was coming. Why the hell not? Carabiner: Why? Seems pointless. I like the idea of a fork. Hell, make a spork, too. Build your own camping tool! If the price is reasonable, I could absolutely see building 2-3 configurations that complement each other for different tasks, and carrying some combination of them depending on what I'm doing. Like, I could build one with scissors, craft blade, punch, and a skiing knife. Now I have a respectable leather working kit in one tool. (Excluding things you hit, which I wouldn't want to put in a folding multitool anyway. I am so excited by the Flex, and I have high hopes for whst it means for the industry. Also, props to Roxon for reaching out to the community for feedback in this way! That gives us much more confidence in the company and product.
Hook blade/seatbelt & box cutter combo, magnifying glass (made of glass) and ferro rod would make a lovely addition. Same for SIM ejector and an electrical hook. Really useful for the tech folks among us.
All the firearm tools would be excellent on this platform. T-shank holder - absolutely! The ruler is cool. Always good to have a pokey tool. I too would LOVE to see more electronics tools. Awesome video. Thanks!
Great video, thanks for sharing. My top 3: 1. T shank adapter 2. Package opener 3. The hook - hear me out. If Victorinox puts the hook on their SAKs, why not add it to the tool set?
Re: the light, I think it would make sense for someone looking to put together a first-responder multitool, as a way to check pupil response with zero risk of accidentally blinding your patient. If they bundled it with a ring cutter, pen insert, pair of tweezers, and maybe a pair of scissors (not to replace trauma shears but to supplement them), you'd have the start to a pretty solid WFR/"off-duty EMT" tool
I'm happy that all of these options exist, potentially, even though some are implements i don't see myself ever wanting. I like the t-shank adapter and ruler the best of these new tools. Tools I'd like are a 4mm bit adapter, 1/4" socket adapter, and can opener/bottle opener/wire stripper like on many Leatherman tools.
That ruler/protracror is awesome! The t shank I'm not excited for because i don't like the fold out action, it should just clip in line the leatherman surge.
Package opener Tshank Ruler Firearm tools are a must. I would like to see a brass/bronze carbon scaper similar to what on the Leatherman MUT and a prybar with nail puller
As far as hating on the "not useful" implements... I already got mine thru pre-order, and of course got all the offerings except the hex wrenches. That's what works for me. BUT... I can envision someone whose daily routine involves a cubicle and commute, who might want a setup like: Long - Hobby blade and scissors. Short - Comb, tweezers/pen, light, divot tool, etc. I didn't check to see if all of that fits, but you get the idea. Side note: I've loved your channel for a long time. I rarely if ever buy a piece of gear without checking to see what you have to say about it. Thanks!
I need to see the 1/4 bit driver but that’s still number 1. Out of the new ones, the t shank, pickup tool (even a dedicated extendable one like an old aerial with a magnet would be great), and the package opener are all musts for me. Love to see them improving on the project
I never got the package opener... If it were a hook blade, like a seatbelt cutter or small guthook, I could maybe see using it on clamshell packages, but I just use my folding utility knife for 99% of non-culinary cutting tasks, including clamshells.
@@notreallydaedaluswhile you can use a knife just fine, I find using the package opener on the gerber dime to be perfect at it's task because of the controlled cut depth and not risking my fingers with weird angle knifework with those clamshells. Tldr; it's a more optimally safe option for specific cut tasks, both for yourself and the items trapped inside a package (both clamshell and standard box packages)
Oddly enough, the package opener on my Swisstool Spirit is my most used tool. It’s sharp and doesn’t poke through the package into the enclosed merchandise. I think my Roxon Flex is brilliant, and a package opener that works this well would make it my EDC….
The T-shank holder is nice. I would like to see a scalpel blade holder, that would make it easy to have something razor sharp that can be replaced cheaply when needed.
In this case though, they probably can't bring everything to market all at once, so it's more ranking which tools you want to be released first. I'd love to see all of them eventually of course.
I would purchase the folding ruler/ magnet right away and consider the pen/ tweezer and t-shank tools. On my wishlist would be a small wrench of some sort. I'm not sure how feasible it is, but this could be something like the spring-loaded adaptable one on the Pichi X2 or even something simpler like the one on the Victorinox S557. I didn't get the scalpel holder, but I would be more interested in a mini utility blade holder. I assume a full-size utility blade holder is too large to fit.
For me: Best: Tweezers/pen tool, t shank, ruler tool Meh: package opener (current prybar already has one), comb (metal combs are not good for hair). Maybe: firearm stuff (very specific and better tools may be available). Probably no: torch tool, golf tool, carabiner, parcel hook. Also, I would be very excited to have a thick prybar added (just like of Leatherman free series). It would be nice to see it about 2 layers thick (like Philips driver on current roxon flex). Such prybar would make this tool instant buy.
my top picks: 1) that sweet sweet ruler 2) pen/tweezers with small hole for needle 3) three pronged fork 4) flashlight 5) not the carabiner, but a 1-slot fixed ring for attaching to 'biners and keyrings 6) package opener 7) t-shank I'm not invested in the t-shank ecosystem, but I acknowledge its usefulness
Rule - make unconventional tools only in the small tool category. the T shank holder is good the ruller & magnet looks great Ideas: * 2 slot philips screwdriver with a square shaft that can accept the bit adapter * 1 (or 2) slot smaller scissors (not as small as in the wave/charge) * Combination tool: bottle opener + can opener + wire stripper + some screwdriver (no need to make 3 tools and make me choose 4 slot bit driver instead) * Revise the Rope cutter to include glass shattering tip * Revise the 1/4 bit driver to include perpendicular hex hole like in the aftermarket regular bit drivers for leathermans
That folding ruler is such a good addition that hook and the blank templates all i could add would be different plier choices slip joint, water pump etc. And a clip point blade.
I'd be looking specifically for an urban EDC multitool. Here are some of my thoughts on the prototypes: - Beard comb - not for me - Flashlight - Far too many slots to give up for a lackluster flashlight. - Most EDC folks will have a dedicated flashlight as part of their carry. - Having a backup is useful, but I wouldn't be able to justify it over other tools. - Pen and tweezer is nice - I tend to EDC a pen, but I use it less often than I thought I would. - Two slots seems reasonable - Would it be possible to add a slot for a pin? - Carabiner - not for me - Package opener is top of my list - one of my most frequent use cases is openening packaging - Divot tool - not for me - Hook would be somewhat useful - Has been useful in my SAKs for untying knots and pulling rope/string/wire though small gaps - Gun tools - Not for me - T-shank holder - Seems to be very popular, but I don't think it fits into my urban EDC use case that well. - Not being able to fit a reasonably sized t-shank saw and having to carry it separately would defeat the purpose for me. - Ruler and protractor could be useful, but I often find multitool implementations too limiting - The folding format looks the most useful iteration of a ruler that I have seen - Still think find a way to have a small measuring tape would be more useful, but not sure how it could be designed to fit in a small space - Would like some kind of calliper tool, but also not sure how this could be implemented in small spaces - The magnetic tip is a great addition Some things I would like to see - Emergency whistle. - I have a leatherman signal, and having an emergency whistle is a nice tool that is often over looked. I've never needed to use it, but if I was in an emergency situation I think it would be invaluable - Victorinox Cybertool-like bit driver and bit storage kit - I just love the cybertool bit driver and bit kit. I think this would work well as two separate tools in the Roxon. - Spudger - Many pry tools are too robust to open small electronics and plastic enclosures without damaging them. - I often open up devices and a spudger in combination with good bit driver could be hugely useful for EDC Long feedback, but I hope it's useful. Thanks Roxon, I'm really excited to see where this platform can go.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the hook is a stake puller for camping tent stakes? It's similar to the principal tool on the Gerber Stake Out. Then again, a hook is a hook and can be used a ton of different ways! I just wouldn't use that for electrical work unless it was insulated. That said, I'm honestly most excited for the package opener to complete my kit. I'm loving my Flex so far but the aim is to make a (mostly) bladeless kit for when I have work in secured areas.
Thanks for showing these. I'm definitely liking this multitool and just made an order. Really hope they bring out the folding ruler attachment and even the T Shank.
Observations/ suggestions: the general purpose hook is great for helping make gill nets. That one is a big chunky but would work. A crochet hook is another useful gill net tool. A magnify glass tool might be worthwhile, particularly if it was enough to get an ember going on a bright day. a simple drill bit beats an awl for drilling a hole, though and awl is essential. I used a 1/4 drive short one and ground the end down to fit in the Leatherman/ harbor freight 1/4” flattened screw driver receiver. the pin punch is fine, would work for its intended purpose as is. gut hook would be a nice addition. a truly good file like a swiss made one or like something produced by stihl saws on a multitool would rock, as would a short chainsaw file. an assortment of allen keys, pick your own sizes as well as a couple of open end wrenches would help get into the bicyclist market- I have made my own multitools for this purpose that work well.
For me it's the T-shank and the Package Opener. I rarely need/use a multi-tool's knife because they're usually of inferior steel and I carry a separate dedicated knife. Opening plastic clamshell packaging with a knife can be a bit hazardous. I've found that the Package Opener from my Gerber Dime works wonderfully.
I ordered one a while ago, and after it arrived, I was so impressed that I ordered another one with a bunch of the tools I didn’t get. I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to set it up, but I’m really happy. The new tools look pretty neat, too! I’m a particularly big fan of the box opener, hook, and pen/tweezers. The comb is also pretty neat. The ruler is genius! One thing I wish that roxon would do is combine the knife/scissors handle from the phantom with a 6-or-7-slot flex handle. I really like the big interchangeable knife and the large scissors of the phantom, and adding the flex handle would make it perfect! Also the flex has better pliers. One slight disappointment I had with the flex is that the can opener isn’t as good as the prototype. The prototype was effectively a clone of the one from the phantom, with a 2d Phillips on the end. The version that I got doesn’t have that. It’s just a can opener. I wish they had kept the original design.
That ruler/protractor thing is what interests me the most. Would also like to see: - ferro rod holder - lockpicking tools - rj45 crimp tool - sim card tool - titanium spike / toothpick - woodcarving tools
I would move the package opener, pen/tweezer and comb up to just below the t shank adapter and the rest of the list as is in my opinion. Thanks for the vid!
Those are all neat ideas. The T-shank blade holder needs to happen for sure! How bout an ice pick/hook pick set that could be threaded into a holder like you mentioned a cleaning rod could be? Could have a set of four different picks you could swap in and out. I would probably use a straight ice pick most often. More often than a pin punch or an awl. A 4mm bit holder is a good idea as well. I also liked the idea of a decent wire stripper similar to the one you showed.
The T shank holder absolutely! The ruler with magnetic pickup tool next totally, then after that I think the pokey punch thing. I am not as certain I want a long tool.
The package opener is a nice addition for us living in a country where you can't carry a knife in any shape or form. I could use it for cutting too in a pinch. So I think it's a quite high priority for me at least!
Agreed on the T-shank tool, just the versatility alone of having access to hacksaw blades, leather cutting blades, etc. and being able to have a sharp one on hand at all times.
I was out this weekend, and had the need for a tool, and remembered this video. How about a silcock key for turning on water when the handles or knobs are removed. The pliers themselves, didn't close tight enough for them to be used. Maybe even adjust the pliers so they can do the job??? I'm not sure if they're still reading the comments or not, but I thought I'd throw this idea for a tool out there since I haven't seen any tool have this.
I got the KS2 elite and have been enjoying it so far. I got a little giddy at the idea of swapping the three one handed augments for a magnetic double sided bit driver and also subbing the saw for a diamond file. Keeping the d2 blade and scissors...man that'd be a winner for me.
I will 100% buy 1, if a T Shank adapter is available, then I would be happy with a package opener. I am always wishing my Knifeless Rebar had a inch or 2 longer saw, but with a t shank holder, I can pick my blade, and also have a metal saw blade as well. That would be amazing. For a airport setup, you can put the T shank in and buy blades where you are. That opens so many options, with that 1 adapter. I would probably use the File from Roxon and use the T shank for saw blades, so please make sure that spring holds the blade fairly good. A little slop is understandable with a replacement blade. I like the wire stripper idea as well. The ruler would be awesome for whatever I go to the store. A few times I used my multitool ruler to measure a screw or bolt. A folding ruler is something I never thought about before.
I totally agree on the t-shank holder. Add in a bit exchanger that goes with the T-shank holder and you have a home run. Knocked out of the park. Make even more things adapted to the t-shank platform and you have the most versatile system on the planet. For example make a craft blade holder in the t-shank platform, and so many more of your other options and you wouldn't have to change up so many things. Instead you could just make them to fit into the t-shank holder. The sky would be the limits. Maybe the comb in this way as s well. See the ones that you would use less often could then be in a pouch or something and you could have with you, just not in a dedicated slot. You do this and you will revolutionize everything in a new way as well.
I have the Roxon mini 2 (I think that’s what it is - it is very poorly marked) and I would love to see blade replacements for it. However in attempting to write a review of it I found that the system is hosed and would not take my review without “registering” and signing over my first-born. Very sloppy process!
My top picks: T-shank holder and bit driver, possibly 4mm AND 1/4" bit driver in one... assuming they could figure out how to do both in the same driver
I love that Roxon has an emergency LED light and a pen/tweezer combo. I think with those I am going to order the Flex and trust that down the road they will have a one-handed opening blade of decent quality steel (D2, 14C28N, or better.) If Roxon has success with the Flex, I hope they will consider making an XL version that is wider and can accomodate more tools. Very good, Roxon!👍
In order of what I liked (and cool it was made at all); T-shank (most important), ruler+magnet, package opener, tweezers+pen, hook, comb (nice when you have to swap out knives for travel).
Roxxon should reach out to the lock picking lawyer. See if they can get some covert companion addons/crossplay
Yes please! This would be incredibly useful.
OMG! THIS! I'd buy them without thinking.
I would love this
@@Blez1224 without thinking is a problem we all certainly have. So many trinkets and baubles
Absolutely would buy 2 of these! One for work and edc and one for lock picking
The T shank holder is a really nice addition.
honestly, that ruler is the most innovative invention for multitools yet in my opinion and im quite hyped to get it,
followed by the T shank holder
I really wish Roxon will start to use premium Materials / Steel
Bushcrafter/outdoors persons perspective.
- Pen and tweezers (need small hole for a needle)
- Carving tools, chip carver/gouge/hook knife
- Awl/reamer that is slimmer/less tapered for drilling wood
- Gimlet would be a cool idea as well simmilar to the punch 7:14 but rounded all the way down to the base
- T shank very good idea! (can carry additional tools in pouch and have space for other tools in the flex)
- main blade that with a belly/not sheepsfoot
Thanks to Roxon for the good work and listening to the buyers, it shows :)
Good ideas!
@@maxlvledc thanks man and thanks for the vids on this tool
@@kringsja9913 What I would love to see:
1. pen and tweezers insert upgraded to hold a needle (as mentioned by @kringsja9913)
2. MAGNIFYING GLASS (and yes, I know it would be very small)
3. flashlight that takes 2 slots, maaaaaybe 3. It is doable. Alternatively, flashlight that can be mounted outside of the frame, i.e. instead of pocket clip
4. 4mm hex bit holder
5. scalpel blade holder
6. separate, huge, powerful magnet. It can take 5 slots for all I care
And for the ones included in the video:
1. T-shank holder
2. ruler
3. pen and tweezers (with upgrade described above)
4. flashlight (with upgrade described above)
5. everything else
@@Laokoon7 they have two scalpel blade holder already for the tool.
First off, I think it’s epic that Roxxon recognises your influence and the ideas that can flow through you from the community. I do like a package opener, not for safety but just so I don’t end up with a gummed up sticky blade
That's the exact reason I'd consider getting it. I always am getting gunk off of my blade.
That folding ruler is amazing. I'd totally buy that.
Top three for us is the T-Shank Holder, Package Opener, and Ruler.
--It'd be nice if they had a short-tool option to sit in the t-shank holder so it didn't just have to sit empty and useless until you needed it for a saw
-- The package opener could be more efficient if you just added one other feature to it, like a wire-stripper, then you wouldn't need to buy the chisel tool if you didn't need a chisel.
-- The ruler with a stronger magnet would be amazing. We just couldn't figure out how the protractor works.
A fantastic update! Thanks! We may end up having to grab a second base unit just to keep an updated tool set at the ready.
Protractor probably with a pice of string? Or does the ruler come apart?
I second the Tshank idea. It seems natural.
A round file would be awesome. So when the bolt hole isn't big enough or paint is built up where a bolt should fit.
Hahahaha, that's hysterical
Can you do a vid where you completely dismantle the MT by removing the handles?
One thing I would add:
I LOVE LOVE that ruler.
Can't promise all of them will be useful or viable:
- Not sure if the 1/4" bit driver can be locked at a 90deg angle. If not - it would be cool to rework it
- Perhaps a 4mm mini hex bit socket?
- A whistle
- Maybe a ceramic implement to accompany diamond files?
- A nail clipper
- A crazy one, I know, but maybe a set of feeler, radius and thread gauges?
- Maybe a precise spirit level (long implement)?
- A telescopic implement with a magnet at the end?
- Maybe a pencil sharpener and/or sharpener for thicker graphite leads for automatic pencils.
This is why I am waiting to order mine. I knew more tools would be added. 😀
I am so happy that I was right. Can't wait for the video. OMG, is that a T Shank adapter? Ok, I just seen the T shank file and saw. I am really excited now. 😅🤯
Oooo, and a package opener, so if you want to go Knifeless, you can use the package opener. I am extremely excited. 😁
Roxon is an Absolutely Brilliant Company doing Amazing Things. Thank you 🙏 Roxon & Thank you 🙏 for this Review.
My personal tools priority are:
Scissors
Nail file
Phillips screwdriver, or a 4mm bit holder even better
Knife blade, no serrations
Scalpel holder
A saw, or the t-shank holder
Can opener, maybe
And that pokey tool if done well
And most importantly I hope it's available to order worldwide!!!
I understand worldwide maybe isn't really possible, but at least not only in the US!
At least in Europe...
By pokey thing do you mean an awl?
1 - T-shank adapter; 2 - Package opener; 3 - pen and tweezer; 4 - Ruler would be my preferences. Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to seeing these tools to add to my order in the near future.
T-shank , the protractor and the comb. Plus all the standard pieces.
No such thing!
I have a goal of getting someone to 3-D print me some scales for my knafs lander with a cut out on the underside for a microSD card under one side and a silver or gold ingot under the other.
A flex with more long slots.
A flex with a cork screw option.
Ferro rod
Whistle
1/4 inch drive (strong magnet to hold the bits, or maybe a hex on one end between the handles to avoid taking up slots)
Love the ruler/protractor/magnet
& t shank
Wire stripper,
drill bit / bolt gauge
Ideally, any new tool should have 2+ functions.
I use the parcel carrier/hook on my SAK's to carry heavy grocery bags 👍
Def need that T-shank holder!
BLACK!
also a vote for ruler/protractor, pen/tweezer, and a hobby blade holder please?
Never had a coating that didn't look like crap and come off.
+1 for the armorer punch, and +1 for the great idea mentioned here incorporating the cleaning rod portion and making it a threaded punch.
Top notch video! Love what Roxon is doing. 1. T shank holder 2. Ruler 3. Package opener 4. Hook 5. Pen/tweezor
They already have the bit driver, and I'm showing the tshank in the video
@@maxlvledc Ah! Yeah, saw the t-shank in the video, just wanted to add my vote to the implement aswell👍 Did not know about the bitdriver tho!
package opener > t-shank holder > ruler tool > pen/tweezer holder > hook > rest
1/4 bit holder
It exists already. It's in the pre order selection.
A putty knife (for those who do wall work or just need something to do some sorting and other misc tasks with) would be great as a long tool option.
Hmm, don't think it would work...would be too thin
Out of these, my list would be:
1. Ruler/compass/grabber just because it is uncommon and see some good use for it.
2. T-shank
3. Package opener
4. Tweezers/ pen
I think a cool tool would be a mini caliper . I think I've used mine the most to measure things that are only a few millimeters.
Hey the ruler/magnetic pickup tool was my suggestion to them when they opened their feedback on the website. So excited to see a prototype for it, and they even improved my idea with a protractor!
Most definitely yes to the package/box cutter
T-shank holder can be used as an interface for a variety of shorter tools, instead of only having options which take up a slot. It could lead to a multitude of accessories which would be cheaper and simpler to produce.
I also would recommend a pull style can opener instead of push style (pull style also works as clamshell opener).
Any glass breaker should have a real carbide bearing, hardened steel is worthless for that task.
T-Shank and the Package Opener for me. I use the package opener because it keeps your blade clean of tape and glue and sharp for fine tasks.
Yes package opener, the most used tool I use, I open boxes all day at work.
I would add also in random order
A nail clipper - 2 slots
A 1/4" Socket driver- 2 slots
A carabiner / nail puller / strike surface / opener 3 slots
An auto wrench 3 slots (it's similar to the ones fitted in those titanium pry bar multitools)
A mini electrician knife 1 slot
A multi wrench 1 slot (4 to 10 mm)
A waterproof USB drive for TF cards 3 slots.
As for priority tool
T shank holder
Folding ruler
Hook
Package opener
Comb
I love a flashlight but yeah it's terrible and as much I like that sort of stuff in a multitool, I think this is not the best way to do it, mostly it taking 4 slots...
For me the best is to have a combo tool.
I have one of the smallest telemeter, a 4 slot tool with light, laser, electronic level, and time functions can justify the slots needed my telemeter mesures 55 mm ( a bit more than 2 inches) long
12 mm thick and 22 mm wide.
So with sevral adjustments it's possible, and even if the Led isn't that strong it makes up for the other tools and usb rechargeable.
The other tool is electronic pressure gauge with similar functions as the measure tool
Something that can accomodate a volty style electrician micro multimeter
For less than 15v it can measure direct voltage with polartity, then it's non contact for high power and can check continuity. With USB recharge and 3 ~ 4 slots it can be super useful.
I would like some tools like folding mini pliers, scissors, wire strippers, even if they will take 2 slots and have the handle that will stick out. You can get something with a descent size without taking the main big slots
As for the other suggestions, more frames, larger ones and also smaller ones with also different tools ( slip joint pliers, shears, wire stripper head, etc...)
Tool bars of various sizes and lengths
So even if I carry a multitool with a plier i can also have the bar and bit ans sockets with me.
I think this tool system is the best thing to come in the multiverse 😊.
My personal favorites listed here
1) pen + tweezer kit (very general purpose, pen is ALWAYS useful when you need it)
2) Protractor/ruler/magnet (I like measuring stuff and magnets are amazing to have)
3) T-Shank holder (near infinite use depending on what you put in it)
Other ideas:
- a USB memory stick (doesn't need to be a lot of memory, few GB) as opposed to the flashlight. There was a Victorinox thing that had a USB stick in it I always wanted.
-- there are other things you could in theory put here, USB-C to 3.0 converter (or lightning for apple users).
- I know patents are a thing, but some kind of off-brand way to use Leatherman bits (or even standard hex head bits)
- I also like the SOG thing mentioned in the video
T shank and ruler are excellent additions! I wonder if the t-shank could ship with an adapter that would allow it to accept leatherman bits too. That way you could carry a double ended bit in the short slot until you needed to use the longer purpose built t-shank stuff
Ruler, T shank , comb in that order. I’m really starting to love where Roxon has been going in the past couple years.
Number one, T shank holder, number two pen and tweezers, three ruler magnetic tool, . Love your tools. Keep up the excellent work.
How about a handle that goes in the sheath that can hold file or other tools? Where the handle of the multi tool may be two big to fit where you need the fact
From a manufacturing engineering perspective:
1/4 bit driver
A GOOD file
Scissors
T-shank
Scalpel holder
I really like the idea of that ruler
The parcel hook could be useful
I keep a knife/flashlight/prybar on me, so there is no need to duplicate in a tool (for me, at least).
Its exciting to see this platform develop.
Definitely a yes on the package opener and t shank holder.
Need a 4mm bit driver that's thinner than the 0.25 inch, need a wire stripper like the SOG, need a larger/wider flex plus that has four or six long tool slots in total, need angle cutter or cable cutter or shears pliers that can be swapped out with the standard pliers head
pen and tweezer are nice, hook is nice, ruler with magnet is nice,
firearm tools a neat
300 or more lumen flashlight would be tough to do but would be a great addition
New tool suggestions: Removable pry bar, sharpening ceramic, handcuff key, auger bit for drilling. A clone for the leatherman bit drivers , mini Bogota lock picks.
I want a ceramic as well.
Cheers!
Most important to me - T-shank holder, 4mm bit holder, package opener
Agree on the package opener. My main justification for carrying the gerber dime over some other keychain multitools
Was the mini punch not for an AR platform's firing pin retaining pin? It looks perfect for that little thing 😆
The pen and Tweaser would be a top priority for me. I carry a Victorinox primarily for the tweezers.
TShank holder is high for me too.
Then said AR Tool
Then the package opener for cutting small zip ties and cordage.
Any clue when the t shank holder will be released? Really need that to come out
I'm planning to get a Flex when they come out with the bar version. I don't need pliers, but I'd definitely use a bar version I can trick out.
Tools:
T-shank: Hell yes.
My top 3:
1. T shank adapter
2. Package opener
I would like to see a brass/bronze carbon scaper similar to what on the Leatherman MUT and a prybar with nail puller
i like the fold out ruler with a magnet at the end, and the t shank holder and the pull blade
Roxon is on point. Victorinox and leatherman may as well nail their own coffins
As far as hating on the "not useful" implements...
I already got mine thru pre-order, and of course got all the offerings except the hex wrenches. That's what works for me.
BUT...
I can envision someone whose daily routine involves a cubicle and commute, who might want a setup like:
Long - Hobby blade and scissors.
Short - Comb, tweezers/pen, light, divot tool, etc.
I didn't check to see if all of that fits, but you get the idea.
Side note: I've loved your channel for a long time. I rarely if ever buy a piece of gear without checking to see what you have to say about it. Thanks!
Holy Moly!! Package Hook 10/10, Tshank 10/10, pen/tweezer 10/10, Protractor 10/10.......Yes ASAP!
I need to see the 1/4 bit driver but that’s still number 1. Out of the new ones, the t shank, pickup tool (even a dedicated extendable one like an old aerial with a magnet would be great), and the package opener are all musts for me. Love to see them improving on the project
I would immediately add the:
Package Opener
T-Shank Adapter
👍👍👍
I wholeheartedly agree with scalpel blade holder.
They have both a small and large one already available! 👍
I like the punch because it would also work as a marlin spike. Also, I want a dedicated marlin spike!
Everything is specific to one’s needs, which is the purpose of it. So to rank them is redundant because everyone’s needs are different.
What about an xacto blade holder.
@@maxlvledc@maxlvledc Maybe I'm wrong, but is a mini utility blade a bit more sturdy than an Xacto blade?
@andrewcardillo4376 hmm, probably. But are used differently and one is much harder to find
For me:
Best: Tweezers/pen tool, t shank, ruler tool
Meh: package opener (current prybar already has one), comb (metal combs are not good for hair).
Such prybar would make this tool instant buy.
my top picks:
1) that sweet sweet ruler 2) pen/tweezers with small hole for needle 3) three pronged fork 4) flashlight 5) not the carabiner, but a 1-slot fixed ring for attaching to 'biners and keyrings 6) package opener 7) t-shank
I'm not invested in the t-shank ecosystem, but I acknowledge its usefulness
Rule - make unconventional tools only in the small tool category.
the T shank holder is good
the ruller & magnet looks great
Ideas:
* 2 slot philips screwdriver with a square shaft that can accept the bit adapter
* 1 (or 2) slot smaller scissors (not as small as in the wave/charge)
* Combination tool: bottle opener + can opener + wire stripper + some screwdriver (no need to make 3 tools and make me choose 4 slot bit driver instead)
* Revise the Rope cutter to include glass shattering tip
* Revise the 1/4 bit driver to include perpendicular hex hole like in the aftermarket regular bit drivers for leathermans
Most of these they actually have available now for preorder. Sweet
1. Ruler
2. T-shank
3. Package opener
That folding ruler is such a good addition that hook and the blank templates all i could add would be different plier choices slip joint, water pump etc. And a clip point blade.
I absolutely love the idea of the ruler. Hope Roxon will release it
I'd be looking specifically for an urban EDC multitool. Here are some of my thoughts on the prototypes:
- Beard comb
- not for me
- Flashlight
- Far too many slots to give up for a lackluster flashlight.
- Most EDC folks will have a dedicated flashlight as part of their carry.
- Having a backup is useful, but I wouldn't be able to justify it over other tools.
- Pen and tweezer is nice
- I tend to EDC a pen, but I use it less often than I thought I would.
- Two slots seems reasonable
- Would it be possible to add a slot for a pin?
- Carabiner
- not for me
- Package opener is top of my list
- one of my most frequent use cases is openening packaging
- Divot tool
- not for me
- Hook would be somewhat useful
- Has been useful in my SAKs for untying knots and pulling rope/string/wire though small gaps
- Gun tools
- Not for me
- T-shank holder
- Seems to be very popular, but I don't think it fits into my urban EDC use case that well.
- Not being able to fit a reasonably sized t-shank saw and having to carry it separately would defeat the purpose for me.
- Ruler and protractor could be useful, but I often find multitool implementations too limiting
- The folding format looks the most useful iteration of a ruler that I have seen
- Still think find a way to have a small measuring tape would be more useful, but not sure how it could be designed to fit in a small space
- Would like some kind of calliper tool, but also not sure how this could be implemented in small spaces
- The magnetic tip is a great addition
Some things I would like to see
- Emergency whistle.
- I have a leatherman signal, and having an emergency whistle is a nice tool that is often over looked. I've never needed to use it, but if I was in an emergency situation I think it would be invaluable
- Victorinox Cybertool-like bit driver and bit storage kit
- I just love the cybertool bit driver and bit kit. I think this would work well as two separate tools in the Roxon.
- Spudger
- Many pry tools are too robust to open small electronics and plastic enclosures without damaging them.
- I often open up devices and a spudger in combination with good bit driver could be hugely useful for EDC
Long feedback, but I hope it's useful. Thanks Roxon, I'm really excited to see where this platform can go.
Holy Cow! Now that's a post!😲
Oh?? Your right! That's lame, I will mention the can opener thing
That ruler/protractor thing is what interests me the most.
Would also like to see:
- ferro rod holder
- lockpicking tools
- rj45 crimp tool
- sim card tool
- titanium spike / toothpick
- woodcarving tools
That wire stripper looks awesome. I'd definitely like to have that.
My top 3 is:
1. Pen & Tweezer
2. Package Opener
3. Comb
I would like an adapter for the replaceable blades used on the Phantom, S502U etc. A magnifier would also be good especially if it was removable.
For me my top additions would be:
1. Pen and tweezers
2. Ruler/magnet
3. Micro bit driver (Micro bit driver)
