  • Denver-native Sam Terasaki was drafted in the U.S. Army in May 1944, which was also around the time he was planning on beginning his studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. By November 1944, following six months of training at Camp Shelby, Sam found himself in Europe as part of the newly combined 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team. In this Hanashi Oral History interview clip, Sam describes what the holidays were like for him and his fellow Nisei soldiers as they were given a holiday break from fighting while in the south of France.
Excerpt from the June 1999 interview conducted as part of Go For Broke National Education Center's Hanashi Oral History Collection.
