UPDATES! I’ve worn these products 2 more times since filming this, so I’ve had twice as much experience with them.
COMPLEXION STICK - I feel the same. It’s a shame that I have to blend it with so much other product to get the color to work, because the finish is exquisite. LIP OIL - I actually love the look way more than I even thought. I’ve been so excited to wear it every day. Long-term, though, it doesn’t feel all that nourishing. When it wears off my lips are left a bit dry. But it’s been easier to re-apply than I thought, I’ve been doing it without a mirror #hotmess BLUSH - I feel the same BROW POMADE - I have actually been more impressed. It doesn’t hold my brows in an iron grip, but it does make them look good, and it’s so easy. However, the Covergirl Easy Breezy Brow does the same thing. I wish I had remembered to mention that product in the video. Will link it above MASCARA - I’ve actually grown to dislike it over the past two days. It doesn’t look as good as Rimmel Lash Accelerator, and it’s really hard to get off of my lashes at the end of the day.
Thank you for the updates! What was the brush you used for the blush? I'm struggling to find a brush to finesse, diffuse and blend out cream and liquid blushes.
Hi Hannah, this is a little late but I wondered if you knew that that mascara is a tubing mascara. so it is easily to get off with warm water only. It may not be your favorite look but I thought I would let you know in case the ease of removal helped you at all
Yes. I have the same problem (as I am sure many people do) with almost all products not being the right tone. I am very pale and everything has too much of a pink or orange undertone and I can’t use it. It’s not the worst problem in the world but it’s helpful knowing other people have a similar experience
Wow, for some reason the size of that complexion stick is really what's shocking me the most. For some further context, the Milk Makeup MINI blush stick is .21 oz. For a product that's supposed to replace a foundation and concealer in your bag?? no way
I love that there’s 2 sides to you Hannah: the one that speaks incredibly eloquent, and then the one that has awesome sound effects when describing something.
Hannah, I can't get over this video! I love the close up frame and you look so beautiful! The dress, the earrings, the natural make up, ... Oh, and that make up bag?! Everything about this video is truly lovely.
@@cinemaocd1752 It is, but not per ounce. Isn't that weird? I liked the Merit better than the WA, but I actually didn't really like either. I can't get them to sit right on my skin.
@@rcherry762 I liked the merit foundation a lot better too. The WA shade was off and it was more “makeup-y” than merit’s which is probably why I like that one so much. It’s very skin like to me. I use supergoop’s unseen or matte screen as a primer underneath. I’m tired of the minimalist brands pumping out dewy foundations. Us oily gals need something else!
@@Louisiana666 Right? Also, the over 40 crowd would love a skin-like foundation that doesn't settle into our pores and make us look like swamp witches within 2 hours. So far, I'm loving the Huda Beauty stick foundation. Not "clean", but whatevs. It's fragrance-free which, for my sensitive skin, is better than "clean".
I came here because I’m trying to decide which products to try from Merit. I noticed that you had issues with the complexion stick shade range when this was filmed. I was shopping today and noticed there is an entire section of new lighter shades for that product. You may need to revisit that product if they haven’t already sent you the new range.
Looks wonderful! I personally find that it sometimes can look more natural when my face is the tiniest bit darker then my neck. That is how most people look when not wearing makeup (because of more exposure to the sun and more redness ect). So when I match my face to my neck it actually looks more like a mask then if i go a bit darker. You always look amazing with the shades you cose thought!
Hannah I would love to see you do a video of your fave foundations and concealers - I’m also pale skinned and it’ll be so helpful to see what worked for you! 😊😊😊
Considering the complexion stick is small and narrow, I wonder if it would be more useful to get one in a contour color, and only use it for cream contour? Not sure if they have shown it being used in that way.
I think it was Michelle Wang who tried this, and she didn’t like it much at all as a contour. Said it was kinda hard to blend out into other product I believe
As the average plain jane with no film experience, I feel like I don't notice a big different in the frame. I like really up close, see every texture frames for make up reviews, even if it's just shots. Kaki (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) does this and it's actually really helpful
What a joy to see you again. 🙌🏼 I LOVE the closer frame of you. I can see everything I need to, to gain a sensible thought process of whether I would like to try the items out for myself. I’ve been interested in Merit for a while but haven’t made the leap yet. It’s a shame that their colour selection isn’t light enough. I’m not as fair as you, and I could probably find a colour that works but it’s still frustrating. Thanks for the review!
Stick foundations usually have about 0.3-0.5 oz. That's so little product wtf merit? And those shades! I'm about a shade darker than Hannah and warm. I doubt it would work for me either.
Yay! I was hoping someone tested bone and silk. The coverage makes me so happy. It's lovely on you. No "makeup look." I am also very fair. I have freckles. I used to swatch colors on under wrists/arms and ended up ghostly. I swatch on the top of my arm now, not underneath or directly on the side of my face. LA colors has mixers at CVS - inexpensive way to lighten or darken a shade. But for every day I use a lighter setting powder. And thank goodness for bronzer. lol
Its so hard to find a shade meant for nearly sheet white skin tones as soon as I swatched bone "the lightest color they offer" I was so disappointed. I mean it may work for under eyes if I blend it out enough but it's definitely too dark.
I'm pretty sure they have a shade in your complexion. I've been to Sephora to look & swatch them and pretty sure I've seen your color there, you just need to go and take a look. The Minimalist foundation is amazing as long as you get the right shade. Also, keep in mind this is for people that want a "no makeup" or minimal look, for someone that doesn't need alot of makeup otherwise you'll definitely have to add concealer where you need it (this is what I do if I have breakouts etc). Also you can try putting some powder over the blush if you think its too dewy. I apply the blush with my fingers. Thanks for making this video! :)
Also…as a fellow #paleperson, Merit needs to step it up with that shade range. Would love to try it but if it’s too dark for you it will be too dark for me!

Thank you for this review!! I was about to buy the complexion stick, but I'm also a very fair olive with facial redness, and those shades are very not my skin tone.
I really liked the merit lip oils but found when I used it several times a week in a row, for some reason my lips became super dry 😩 which was so confusing to me as it’s supposed to be nourishing.
Many products marketed as "nourishing" have that effect on me. The only one that leaves my lips better than before I put it on is Jane Iredale's Lip and Cheek Stain.
When you said "soft pink, almost mauve," I was like okay the camera distorts color but not that much?? And then you put it on and i was blown away. You're so right.
So interesting to see how Marrakech looks on you! I have cooler undertones and my lips are naturally more mauve, so it shows up more like a peachy pink on me. Great review!
I feel like that bag would look GREAT as a display piece on the shelves behind you! also, loved the noises you chose for describing your "type" when it comes to mascara 😂
Fortunately I only need a little bit (1/4 of the amount you used) to cover my face, but I like light coverage and I have a shade that really matches my skin in the foundation stick. I love it.
Of course I’m having the opposite problem with the complexion stick, I have two shades and both are too light even though I took their recommendations! I also have been using barely a dot of it, not a lot, but I liked your look with more
I have the same light neck/pink face situation but if I tried to match my neck I would be way washed out. So I tend towards the opposite, match face if possible and warm up the neck with powder or blend down in some way.
Are you still using the Sephora green color corrector? I cannot find it and would love to find a green CC that isn’t super drying and grey/gremlin. Thanks!!
Summer 2022 update: I posted a year ago, Hannah, and just received SNY N13; before that, was able to get minimalist bone, because I really wanted to check out the texture, and was able to get it at a discounted price. Oh ya, if this was in our undertone, I’d make a full priced purchase. It works really well with my 54yo skin, as opposed to Westman Atelier stick foundation, which is horrible for me. It’s caky, accentuates pores, looks streaky, and the fairest color, .5, looks like a pale peachy golden color on my coloring. That said, bone actually works decently to deal with under eye discoloration, and since I got some color in my skin this year, it blends in decently. I had a new deck built, and the exterior was painted, so I was out with the contractors at peak sunlight times, and forgot my sunscreen. Ya, I burned, but oddly, didn’t peel, so haven’t faded to my greyed out undertone yet. And ya, merit bone seems to be close to my tanned face color. That’s funny to think about. 😎 Okay, back to N13. It’s a *really, really good* match, so when it starts cooling off, I’ll play with it more. My uber-dry skin, and this semi-arid Colorado climate, would love it now, but after burning earlier this year, I’ve been living in suntegrity 5n1, mixing the two lightest colors with a teensy bit of LA Girl pro-conceal in green, per your suggestion, to make a match. I don’t want to do a full face, so tinted sunscreen is all I’m doing. Thanks again! P.S. merit has increased the amount of product in minimalist, from 3.7 grams to 6.5 grams. No expansion in colors, though.
I think your face looks great in that color. It is normal for your face to be a little darker than the rest of your body, especially your chest and under side of your arms- which are naturally hidden from the sun. That product looks good though , I may order it in my shade to hide some scars on my cheeks. Enjoying your content😊
Thanks for the review! Fellow pale person and I’m giving Bone a try because the finish looks amazing. Where are your hoops? They look like my idea of perfect.
You might get more mileage out of that complexion stick by using the brush to pick up a bit from the tube and stippling it on. It will definitely cover blemishes better, with less product. Also that brush Merit sent is perfect for stippling. For that matter you could do the same thing with the blush....
You look stunning in these products and gosh I wish I could get my hands on the incredible makeup pouch!! It is painfully beautiful. I really want to try the complexion stick, I have seen it at my local Sephora so I will probably check it out in person. I do have the blush in the color Mood which is also incredible, kind of a maroon shade that doesn’t lean purple at all. It’s so lovely. These products really do suit you, they look so fresh and lovely! Maybe one of my favorite looks I’ve seen on you with the hair up and the top. The whole vibe is very French girl chic!
I am completely disappointed here we are in 2022 and it’s still a hunt to find a shade for my pale skin. I have the exact skin you have. The glossier lightest shade G12 in the skin tint and stretch concealer does in fact work for me as well as maybelline fit me concealer in 11. I wish that one day I order the lightest shade that it’s actually too like for me like the maybelline line.
A super comparable product is the Westman Atelier foundation stick, which at $68 sounds like it's more money or twice the price of the $38 Merit stick, but per gram, it's not. It's $68 for 9g or $7.55 per gram. There's also almost 2 1/2 times more product. The Merit has 3.7 grams and is $10.27 a gram. So price alone, it's overpriced for what you get, which isn't much at all. I'm the same shade as you in foundation and it's crazy to me how grayish brown bone is and how overly peach silk is. They need to work on their shades!
I'm loving your entire aesthetic!!! Also, I can NOT get the complexion stick to sit right on my skin. It just breaks up and goes all patchy and sits on top and makes me look older. I'll keep trying.

Very helpful. Seems like a lot of brands are coming out but not many of them are truly stand out brands.
I went in store and try all of the stick and with pale skin the perfect colour is Dune
I know this is a really old video, but is it possible to show us what your foundations look like in natural lighting?
Not related to the Merit review, but where are your hoops from!? They are so pretty!
This makeup looks beautiful on you!
I love the hot mess/real mess spectrum
Anyone know of a formula dupe for the complexion stick in fairer and neutral tones?
The close up is preferable.
I have no need to buy any merit beauty, but this look, as always, is the one for me! With the hair and the gold hoops- Yowe!
This video popped up on my feed and I'm so glad!, love your channel. New Subscriber!
Those foundation shades look like they could almost work as a blush for you 😂
Ack your nailssss! Are you kidding me? I literally gagged at how stunning they are 😍
But nobody who has fair skin like that has skin that peach. The greyish pink one sure, that would probably match me in winter, but nobody be so peach
It's true. Never have I ever been peach.
I work at Sephora and I swatch this stuff all the time and I’ve been so curious! Interested to see what you think!
I’ve been obsessing over your video titles lately😂
Yessss total Amanda Z vibes and I love it!
I have the same issue with the merit complexion stick being to dark and I'm not quite as pale as you, so I was just like 😬 "she's trying merit, eh?"
Ugh I can’t believe I JUST subscribed now! I’ve been watching for ages and realized I have NEVER clicked sub!! 😂 done!
Great video as always😊
How many grams of product is in the complexion sticks?
I'm loving your entire aesthetic!!! Also, I can NOT get the complexion stick to sit right on my skin. It just breaks up and goes all patchy and sits on top and makes me look older. I'll keep trying.
