    • @worldtraveler721
      @worldtraveler721 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gcool243 I know exactly what has been reported about this. This was a leaguewide problem and it doesn't make sense that the Astros were advanced. When Beltran joined the Astros, The Athletic reported that he told them that their sign-stealing methods were "BEHIND THE TIMES." In otger words, The Yankees were much more advanced than the system that the Astros had at that time. Beltran spent 2 years with the Yankees prior to him joining the Astros. Fiers also told MLB investigators where the cheating scheme came from. This is what The Athletic reported that Fiers told them:
      [It came from] “a hitter who was struggling at the plate and had benefited from sign stealing with a PREVIOUS team.” Who is the hitter who was struggling at the plate and came from a previous team? BELTRAN. The Yankees were doing more than just using their scheme with men on base. Have you read the unsealed letter that Manfred wrote to them when they and the Red Sox got fined for conduct related to ELECTRONIC sign-stealing in Sept 2017? Hitters and coaches received REAL TIME information on stolen signs, they cheated on the road, and they started cheating in 2015, when Beltran was with them. The Athletic posted the letter. The other thing is that Tom Verducci explained how electronic sign-stealing became rampant leaguewide. The problem got worse for MLB when they implemented the challenge replay system in 2014. This is what Tom Verducci wrote:
      "Once baseball went to a challenged replay system (2014), they put television monitors within range of the dugoutS that had CAMERAS dedicated from CENTER FIELD to the HOME PLATE area and those CAMERAS were in REAL TIME. It was just too tempting for A LOT of PLAYERS NOT to take advantage of and misuse. That I call Pandora'a Box that was opened by PLAYERS STEALING SIGNS. Now the Commissioner is trying to close that box and who knows what other forms of TECHNOLOGY will make policing this kind of thing even more difficult."
      MLB was aware. And I'm not sure who came up with this myth that only the Astros had these secretive, mysterious cameras. Every team had them when MLB implemented the challenge replay system. And they were in REAL time being used to steal signs by many teams.

    • @worldtraveler721
      @worldtraveler721 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gcool243 You also have to consider what rule was in place at the time when all of this was happening. It was a rule from back in 2000 that believe it or not, it prohibited ELECTRONIC SIGN-STEALING. MLB had already been dealing with electronic sign-stealing for years. The problem compounded when they implemented the challenge replay system.
      2000 REGULATION
      “No club shall use electronic equipment, including walkie-talkies and cellular telephones, to communicate to or with any on-field personnel, including those in the dugout, bullpen field and-during the game-the clubhouse. Such equipment may not be used for the purpose of stealing signs or conveying information designed to give a club an advantage.”
      This rule mentions nothing about making exceptions for those who broke the rule with men on base. Plus, what evidence is there that other teams only used their schemes with men on base? Says whom? The teams that cheated? Those teams know fully that they did more but they are never going to admit exactly what they did. Manfred wasn't there when they were cheating. The rule plainly states that no team was allowed to use technology/electronics to steal or convey signs. So every team who did this broke the rule PERIOD

The Astros were the front runners to stick them on this controversy because they were the ones that had the bright idea of not only being loud about how, but there was proof going around, more than most. Carlos Beltran even told the Astros organization when he went to play for them how behind the times they were on their sign stealing and he was coming from playing 2 years with the The Yankees, who are also said to be sign stealing. It would have been a contest for sure but to say it was plain stolen as if the Dodgers would have automatically won seems like a bit of grab.
    Keep in mind im not trying to downplay the cheating they did, there definitely should have been some large punishments handed down by MLB, especially if you went and looked at the data of who benefited the most. Martin Gonzalez should have been suspended big time

      @@imy7822 all the teams had these cameras when MLB implemented the challenge replay system in 2014. All the cameras were also in real time and teams were using them to steal signs. That's when electronic sign-stealing became rampant leaguewide. It became a bigger problem for MLB. I'm not sure where this myth came from that only the Astros had cameras. Tom Verducci specifically wrote about this a few years ago:
      Verducci explained: "Once baseball went to a challenged replay system (2014), they put television monitors within range of the dugoutS that had CAMERAS dedicated from CENTER FIELD to the HOME PLATE area and those CAMERAS were in REAL TIME.
      He even referenced a bit of the Dodgers' "system"
      Electronic surveillance is a GROWING TREND AROUND the league, with "MANY" teams using up to SIX "HIGH MAGNIFICATION CAMERAS" in their home ballpark SPECIFICALLY for STEALING opposing teams's signs. In Los Angeles, the Dodgers' video room three years ago played host to starter Zack Greinke watching for weaknesses in opposing hitters. This season, the set up has a much DIFFERENT OBJECTIVE.
      This year, if you walked into the SAME room you would have found a small army of 20-something analysts in polo shirts and slacks pouring over video FROM THE IN-HOUSE CAMERAS, LIKE THE SECURITY ROOM at a VEGAS CASINO. Most teams train their cameras on the catcher, the pitcher (from several angles), the third base coach and the dugout. These cameras ARE NOT USED for TRAINING PURPOSES. THEY ARE USED EXPRESSLY FOR STEALING SIGNS and DECIPHERING “TELLS ” FROM PITCHERS."
      "We’ve reached a point,” said one club executive, “where the attractiveness of the sport as an entertainment option has been lost in the quest to find every incremental edge. And video has changed things rapidly. I’m increasingly thinking something has to be done."

      I'd love to sell you a car or a timeshare if Kelly can sell you on his story of those events leading to his suspension.
      He was suspended for headhunting. You can see it plain as day in the video. You're buying his spin with Rose there? Just because Kelly SAYS something went down in such a fashion doesn't mean that that's what was really going on.
      And yeah, I don't think Donaldson's mocking of Anderson was racial. Anderson HIMSELF is the one that compared himself to Jackie Robinson in the first place. Donaldson just gave him a receipt for being such a narcissistic prima donna in making such self-important comparison in the first place.
      MLB just did not want to be perceived as 'condoning racism' by the woke crowd for not 'acting' against Donaldson. His teammates (including Judge) turning on him was also disgusting. But we live in crazy times when it comes to this subject.
      Donaldson might be annoying at times, but I don't see much evidence that he's a bigot.
