Just came across your channel for the first time. You were an animator on GTA 5? Well I just want to say thank you. That game made me feel all kinds of ways and I think a lot of that has to do with the animation and how flawless it seemed transitioning from in game to cut scenes, it was just perfect.

Your work, but also the pure love and admiration you clearly have for these games is so inspiring! It was an honor to hear about your perspective here.
I loved the animations in rdr2. They don't feel like animations like a typical game they feel part of the gameplay because they happen in real time and you can interrupt them by killing the animal or something. I remember playing rdr2, I think I just got my white arabian horse and I was going past an open field near strawberry and I seen a herd of deer. A split second later a cougar jumps out the long grass and takes one down. It was straight out of a david attenborough documentary.
What's insane to me is that I've noticed when you guys put out trailers for GTA 5 and RDR2, the game that got released actually ended up looking slightly better than the original reveal trailer. If Rockstar manages to pull this off again with GTA 6, it's going to be a masterpiece.
The animation and density are the things that really get me. The way the NPCs move and the hair and how many cars and npcs are packed into every scene is just amazing.
I think one of the less noticed but wow moments for me was the grass/vegetation density in both the flamingo scene AND the nudist watering his yard. Just take a minute and look how DETAILED the grass variety is. Holy moly. I’m 33 and have been playing these games since the top down ones… I hope everyone genuinely appreciates how special these type of entertainment moments in life are :) and Rockstar has consistently delivered bangers.
It’s rare to find genuine reaction videos and even rarer to get it from a former rockstar employee reacting it. The density of details and diversity in characters, cars, buildings, you name it is so rich! It feels very authentic. Dude, your animation of the gator snatching the boar is legendary. I've sat with my homies and talked about that specific animation alone. There's rumors of that animation being in GTA6 as well from the big leak last year so your work may have carried over into the new title.
This is such a cool and unique video. I wish more game developers were open to sharing what they worked on like you did. You did an amazing job working on gta5 and rd.

Thank for being an amazing guy and thank you for working on GTA V and RDR2 ! You are a talented hero !
It must be a totally different experience seeing this, knowing what goes into getting everything just right. I used to do a lot of different things that I see from a different perspective now. One example is custom leather. When I see a unique leather motorcycle seat or something one of a kind, I sort of have a flash in my mind of what it must have gone through. All the different machines and fluids and the stretching and hand stitching and all that. I imagine you must have felt the incredible effort of the long nights and endless tiny adjustments and bouncing ideas off fellow coworkers with bloodshot eyes. The infinite searches for proper documentation. The smell of that one coffee machine that everyone thought would burn the place down running 24/7. lol I don’t know, I guess I could see true appreciation in your eyes, beyond just being excited to watch a game trailer.
Yes yes and yes!!!! Dude you nailed it. When I watch game related content I immediately think about what it took to create it and all of the passionate artists behind it. Games like this take passion from all the devs because it’s such a long process and you just have to trust it will work out. Each time trying to make better characters or better animation along the way
For the longest of time I have wanted to act and play a character in any Rockstar game possible simply because the stories are just so well made along with great characters. But it all comes down to how good the animations are in order to make them feel like they are real people. Thank you bro for working on some of my favorite games of all time. GOAT
Picked up GTA V on release just 8 days after I turned 17. It was my first GTA to legally buy on my own, and I am STILL playing it (as well as Red Dead 2) and loving every moment. Lmk if you ever wanna come onto our podcast to talk about your work on the game - Joe
Awesome breakdown! It's dope to hear how much effort Rockstar puts into their games from a contributor. Just wanted to say that if you worked on GTA5, and RDR2 you're a genius in my book, they are masterpieces! I have so much respect and appreciation for you guys as artist. Y'all are creating the highest level of modern art. Looking at trailer for the 100th time, it's the "Thrillbilly" scene that has me in awe. The way the lady interacts with the camera is too real. Not just the graphics, but her motions, like every detail is spot on. She's so loose and carefree, its looks INCREDIBLE. I can't wait to play it
So crazy! Thank you for sharing your experiences back during your rockstar days. Really enjoyed the animations you created along with your ex collegues. The development and end product really, put in perspective how much a developer there actually loves the franchise. Wich is a thing that goes over by alot of people their heads. Love the channel too btw. You’re open, you’re charismatic. Cant wait to see your future reactions and videos 🎉
Thanks for the reaction, cool to see a former rockstar guy appreciating this gem. Although I feel so bad for the people working on 6 that wanted to celebrate the reveal together as a team. Shame on the leakers, for your impatience took that moment from the devs and animators and creators. I’m sure they would have loved to see our reactions as a team. Good jobs rockstar and thank you for everything you do for the gaming community

1st & foremost, thank you for your work in previous titles, you did amazing!!! 2nd, I think people missing how insanely customized the vehicles that are showcased, are. Stickers on the windows, custom plates, the lowrider pinstripe & layering, wider variety in tire sizes & styles… I have a feeling they’re going to make Midnight Club customization look like child’s play
Most of the stuff is from V's Lowrider update. So not suprising, except the window and bumper stickers. But 6 will make it even better implemented i hope, when it's not just an DLC anymore and faded into everything.
The way of animation you did a decade ago still gives me goosebumps playing GTA V , how uniquely you craft every moments. Thank for giving us every moments you did in GTA V ... Hope we will see your gameplay of VI on this channel when it comes out Take love ❤
I love your enthusiasm and passion! I’m beyond stoked to get my hands on this. And I really do hope we can play as law enforcement too. I’m not really sure why else they would’ve showed the body cam footage. Unless it’s from L.E. POV while chasing the main characters during a robbery. I guess that’s 100% possible. But there’s so much to look forward to with this next game.
Your passion and positivity comes through so clearly and is genuine. This was the best trailer breakdown without a doubt and it was my first time seeing your channel. dude OMG, Watching your rreview just made me 1000X more excited. It makes sense that its all IN GAME scenes. Thinking of GTA V and the cutscenes, they seamlessly bridged into the gameplay. Remember the opening scenes and game play at the bank? yup!
Npc's are simple but will seriously make a huge difference with the changes they made to them. They don't bob around holding a drink or cigar, they actually do specific unique activities. in 5, if you watch an npc forever they will do nothing, but in this it seems like they will actually go have a routine and a life. Definitely a step up.
Rdr2 NPC's are outstanding tho, so detailed, I've watched them, follow them, they are so realistic, it blows my mind, and RDR2 was released almost 7 years ago. Just imagine, and RDR2 is easily with no debate the most detailed game ever period, till Rockstar releases GTA6. Rockstar doesn't play around, they put their souls in their games and it really shows.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get into animation? It must be amazing to work for Rockstar Games with all these talented and passionate people
I went to school for Art used to love drawing portraits but then took animation classes as a part of the degree I was in. I did a 2d animation that felt alive and I was hooked! I think there is an interview of me floating around the web somewhere of me talking about it. If I find it I will let you know. It was from animation mentor. Might still be on TH-cam not sure
@@YorkReactsI always wanted to go to school for it but the fear of debt really soured my hope. Is 20 still a good age to find a school for animation? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
In my opinion, Rockstar Games have this way of every game they release becomes a cultural phenomenon and becomes major headline news each time a Rockstar game releases, which a lot of people have mentioned before. Also, the level of detail are one of the main things Rockstar Games are experts at imo. Also the story, characters, realism etc., is out of this world. What's insane to me is that I've noticed when you guys put out trailers for GTA 5 and RDR2, the game that got released actually ended up looking slightly better than the original reveal trailer. If Rockstar manages to pull this off again with GTA 6, it's going to be a masterpiece.
I think they will especially since they still have at least another year to perfect everything.
Yeah let's not sugarcoat this the first trailer of GTA 5 in comparison to second was a massive downgrade

The animation and density are the things that really get me. The way the NPCs move and the hair and how many cars and npcs are packed into every scene is just amazing.
That and the scale of the world gonna be unprecedented

I think one of the less noticed but wow moments for me was the grass/vegetation density in both the flamingo scene AND the nudist watering his yard. Just take a minute and look how DETAILED the grass variety is. Holy moly. I’m 33 and have been playing these games since the top down ones… I hope everyone genuinely appreciates how special these type of entertainment moments in life are :) and Rockstar has consistently delivered bangers.
It’s rare to find genuine reaction videos and even rarer to get it from a former rockstar employee reacting it. Earned my follow just from your reaction I was smiling ear to ear and almost felt like a kid again, played gta 5 as a 16 year old and now as a 26 year old just has been surreal and honestly no trailer gets me emotional like rockstars does.

Thank you for making this video. Your compassion and love for animating comes through ten fold. Loved your insight on the new GTA6 trailer.
The smell of that one coffee machine that everyone thought would burn the place down running 24/7. lol
I don’t know, I guess I could see true appreciation in your eyes, beyond just being excited to watch a game trailer.
GOAT

But 6 will make it even better implemented i hope, when it's not just an DLC anymore and faded into everything.

dude OMG, Watching your rreview just made me 1000X more excited.

Simply go to an animation school. It might be expensive but this is the way. You can also try online courses. I'm an animator on vfx movies.
