Had the pleasure of meeting H G Lewis in 2006 in Grapevine, TX. Very engaging personality but he admitted openly that he knew he wasn’t a good filmmaker so had to do something no one else would. Lewis so it was just mostly an addictive cycle he couldn’t seem to break.
I noticed a re-occurring thing with his movies and the music, a lot of the time it will be like a twenty second sample that doesn't loop, but it will just be re-played over and over again to fill in empty space. It happens a lot throughout A Taste of Blood (1967).
Oh man i saw Blood Feast for the first time during The Last Drive In marathon back in 2018 with Joe Bob Briggs telling all about Herschell Gordon Lewis during movie breaks, it was great.
%100 agree with everything! I can't stand dull or slow movies, I just can't at all. But put on a cheesy low budget film on and I'll sit down and watch the whole thing 😃🍿
BRAVO in the UK in the mid to late 90s was great for horror. I got introduced to some really weird stuff and lots of Italian horror growing up through thst channel
My husband and I love MST3K but my husband has said that Monster-A-Go-Go was the worst movie he has ever seen. Apparently this is one of Hershell Gordon Lewis' films. I'm not much of a gore person but these movies sound so badly made I feel like I have to watch his other films.
Monster-a-go-Go is the worst and has the very worst ending. It actually took two bad directors to make it. Bill Rebane (Beast of Yucca Flats) started it, then quit. HGL came in to finish the job.
According to Joe Bob Briggs, the two wigs chatting in "Gruesome Twosome" was added, along with another segment, to pad the movie out to feature length.
Ca. 0:45 I wish to lodge a complaint: the (late) 1970s were not "the olden days." :) And ca. 12:00 "Like a dog drawn to his own vomit, he returns..." is an effective, if gross, analogy that I would love to use someday.
The HORROR OF PARTY BEACH. HAD REAL UNCUT VERSION THAT MADE ME JUMB OUT OF MY SEAT. NOT UNCUT VERSION THAT WE SEE NOW. ITS FAMOUS FILMS. VERSION I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEN TO THAT VERSION. QUITE SCARY THERE SCENES FILMED DIFFERNTLY THEN VERSION BEEN RELEASE. IN FILM BOOK MAGAZINE HAS SOME THOSE SCENES. TINAS MURDER WAS MORE GRAPHIC AND DETAILED AND SLUMBER PARTY MORE GRAPHIC SCENES OF GIRLS.

Whatever is cheapest, amiright?
Fun fact: in the Wizard of Gore, they used sheep brains to simulate human brain in that particular effect.
The film where he made a girl put a whole raw sheep tongue in her mouth so it could be “pulled out” by the killer is the most egregious

Man I just love all of these little videos of you just talking about whatever you want. They're quite informative and entertaining. :)
Man I forgot how much I love your videos, great stuff!

When I was a kid in Utah, my sister and I would stay up late and watch Nightmare Theater on Channel 4. Also, there was TV20 and Turkey Theater.
Yes Nightmare Theater at 11:45 every Friday night was the greatest!
@@SandyofCthulhu Here's a dose of nostalgia for you:
The into to Nightmare Theater!

Ahh, thank ya, Sandy.
Thank you!👍
Can't believe that I haven't subscribed to this channel. Sandy's enthusiasm is beyond delightful. I can almost forgive him for The Chasm haha,.
Can’t wait to watch some of these wonderfully awful films! Thanks Sandy!

Crispin Glover was The Wizard of Gore in the remake.
Sorry if I got it wrong.
