  • The nerds react to Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets taking on Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves. They also discuss Jalen Brunson's monster performance to lead the New York Knicks past Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam and the Indiana Pacers.

And they figured out that they just have to play good enough defense to put the mediocre Wolves offense on skates. One narrative I haven't heard in the media is that while the Wolves were the top defense in the regular season, the Nuggets weren't slouches either. They were a top 10 defense.
I mean in 2 wins they held the Wolves under 100 pts. Game 3 - limit Ant, switch PnRs, and contest all the jump shots. Game 4 - let Ant cook, and don't KAT and Conley find a rhythm. Contest all the jump shooting role players. Switch all picks and DHOs. Game 5 - Double Ant, and rotate and contest everything else. Grab all the rebounds.
Don't know what Game 6 (and a worst-case potential Game 7) has in store, but the Nuggets will adjust on the fly to challenge the mediocre Wolves offense.

I mean before Curry was even Curry GS had an allstar in David Lee in 2012. Fast forward 10 years and he’s had Draymond, Klay, Durant, and even Wiggins as all star teammates. Not saying he isn’t incredible of even a top 10 all time and doesn’t currently hold more accolades than Jokic but compare that to Jokic who has quite literally NEVER in his 10 year career had an allstar beside him and I think that speaks to impact. If nuggets repeat this year Jokic will have done something Curry failed to do with a 73 win team before Durant showed up and all but guaranteed multiple Curry rings for him. Maybe that team was good enough to win it without him but as soon as Durant joined I think we all basically thought this is the most unfair team of all time and tbh we were correct. That isn’t what Jokic is working with and already I think his playoff resume surpasses Curry’s (won his first FMVP in his 4th championship year).

Shout out to the League for changing up the ref style after we went down 0-2 to MN! They understand ppl want to see offense-based ball, not boring defense ball from the 90's. The switch in reffing really let Denver shine! And the only ppl complaining are MN fans, and there are so few of them that this is really about whats best for the most ppl. Plus the NBA makes more money when superstars win or at least go to the finals. So all around I'm happy with the NBA for stepping in and doing something to help us.

@mom3ntousjatt Huh? No I'm saying I agree with the ref change. It was a good thing. Not a MN fan at all I don't think there really are any of those.

@airilsra It was frustrating those first 2 games and so much more fun to watch after the switch to a way more offense style game. We want to see these players score. Defense just ruins the game and it isn't as fun to watch. But ever since game 3 they really backed off on D so It's fun to watch again, and Denver does a lot better this way

@mom3ntousjatt If I could change 1 thing I think they probably should have told MN about the ref style change before Game 3, so they didn't come out thinking they could play physical D and get their starting 5 almost fouled out by halftime. Then Game 3 woulda been more competitive if they told them.
But that's okay game 4 and 5 were more competitive because MN knew not to do that.

He’s good but the ppl saying he is the next MJ and will be the best player in the league next year are crazy. He’s not passing Jokic and SGA for a couple more years at least and possibly never will

If you needed to take Nuggets PG out of the mix to beat them, then you’re not as good as you think. Mals actions were immature but it didn’t effect the game or anyones health, suspending him would have been depriving people of great basketball just to make a point about what could have happened. Not to mention it is the first time Mal has done anything like that at all.
