There is something so special about a beautiful acoustic guitar played by a very serious sincere musician who has a very unique style. Miles Davis comes to mind, if I had to name someone.....
Thanks Eric. Thanks Santa Cruz Guitars! Richard Hoover Luthier and Owner also Carolyn Sills of Santa Cruz

fantastic review, with so many details, thanks! (coincidentally a luthier here in argentina is building me a cocobolo 00 but 14 instead of 12 frets)

Fantastic, and informative. And great playing. I'm keen on this model; the things you say about the choices you made in developing it make a lot of sense to me. I like a slightly wider neck (closer to classical). I'm not sure if the scale would be best for me, but I don't have large hands so maybe. I have a Taylor GS Mini for travel and I notice my hands hurting after a few days intensive playing on that small scale. The 00 Skye, however, is not that small, of course.

Eric, for a shorter scale length, your guitar seems to handle [open?] C tuning very well. Are you using a medium gauge strings, standard lights, or some sort of custom string gauge set? Btw, excellent playing and I really enjoyed the detailed explanation of your guitar's features!

Very interesting. Thank you. What is the fret board radius, please? What size are the frats? Thanks again.

Interesting demo! I'm late to this party, but I must say this is the first time I've ever heard "All Blues" played on an acoustic guitar -- and a OO parlor guitar in particular. It would be interesting to know what the great Miles Davis would think of your rendition. 🤔. Cool guitar, but not enough low end to suit me.

I purchased the Alaskan picks on Amazon and I fear they were NIT the ones you used. Where do you purchase them from? Thank you!!!

Old video so a shot in the dark, but does anyone know what that leather rest is he's using on the underside of the guitar?

Hi there. The guitar support that Eric is using is called the Neck-Up. Your can check it out at www.neckup.com. - Teja Gerken

This guy's demo showed me that 1 - If the custom builders can make small body guitars sound virtually as big as a dread. then maybe it'll trickle down to us heathens who, for myself have never felt comfortable specifically with MY WHOLE RIGHT ARM. Secondly I had never heard the logic of the 12 fret design explained better or the string angle advantage of the slotted design... and 3hirdly I would definitely try out one of those wedgy thingys 'cause I have long thought that the one foot stool approach puts uneven strain on the back and spine and hey, look at this guy's natural unforced posture.

If I could afford a SC guitar, this would be it. Next time you speak to Richard, please ask him when he is going to get around to building mandolins?

Borrowing a friend's now. Amazing tone. Sadly, it blows all my Martins away (well, not the 1903).

There’s no substitute for 115 year-old wood - particularly Brazilian.

I'm lucky to have a '25 00-21 that I restored from utter destruction a few months ago. There's truly nothing like the mojo of 90 + year old Brazilian that's been played all that time.
