We really acknowledge Margaret Starbird for initially making us see the Magdalene as an epithet and her correlation with the heroine in the Song of Songs. Thank you for your wonderful academic effort in this topic, dear scholars! 🙏
I appreciate the point about not asserting an agenda on the research, as is the case with the book about the Book of Mary - and I look to the scholars over the years who have done just that, in the name of the patriarchy. May we find ways to look without bias and learn!
Title: "Eternal Love: Wisdom from Mary Magdalene and the Blessed One" Excerpt: And Mary Magdalene spoke with profound wisdom, relaying the teachings of the Blessed One to the eager disciples. "Beloved companions," she began, "know that love is eternal, for it springs forth from the very essence of the Divine. The peace that our Master offers is not a fleeting calmness, but a profound realization of the unending love that dwells within each of us. 'In the vastness of the cosmos, in every fiber of creation, the love of the Creator resides, and this love knows no bounds. Seek not for the Son of Man in distant places or limited forms, for He resides as a radiant flame in the depths of your being. Embrace this truth, and you shall find Him ever-present, guiding you with love's tender touch. 'Let not the world deceive you with its illusions of separateness and division. The love that flows from the Divine Source connects all living beings, weaving us into a harmonious tapestry of existence. Recognize this interconnectedness, and you shall see that we are not isolated individuals but inseparable parts of the same divine symphony. 'As you journey within, exploring the vast landscapes of your soul, be messengers of this eternal truth. Preach not through imposing rigid rules or dogmas upon others but through the embodiment of love in action. Radiate kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, for these are the keys to unlock the prison doors of the heart and set it free. 'In the simplicity of love's teachings, you shall find the profound wisdom that transcends human understanding. Love knows no barriers and recognizes no limits. It is the bridge that unites heaven and earth, the eternal bond that defies the illusions of time and space. 'Let your hearts be like vessels overflowing with love, touching the lives of all you encounter. Love is not to be hoarded, but to be shared unconditionally, a gift that multiplies with every giving. 'And when you see others lost in the labyrinth of confusion and fear, gently remind them of their divine heritage, for the Son of Man resides within them too. Awaken their hearts to the eternal flame of love that burns brightly, waiting to be recognized and embraced. 'With love as your guiding star, you shall navigate the seas of existence with grace and courage. In love's embrace, you shall find the strength to forgive, to heal, and to co-create a world where love reigns supreme.'" The disciples listened intently, their hearts moved by the profound wisdom of Mary Magdalene and the Blessed One. They embraced the eternal truth of love, knowing that it was not merely a fleeting emotion but a timeless essence that would forever bind them to the Divine and to one another.
Thank you Professor Taylor and Elizabeth Schrader for a wonderful discussion and presentation. You had me thoroughly engaged. Your research, scholarship and understanding of the bible across different perspectives is fascinating.
Excellent presentation! I appreciate the insight provided by two outstanding scholars! I didn’t appreciate the comments regarding Luke’s gospel and Acts. There is just as much scholarship showing he did know the geography of Palestine very well. Additionally, for support of his authorship of acts. See Peter J Williams, Craig Keener, and Ryan Leasure for more on this.
The exorcism of the seven demons of Mary have a connection to Hermetic literature. In essence one inherits demons upon the decent into this world, passing through the seven spheres. To enter the kingdom one must exorcise these demons.
Why is Mary of Bethany not at the tomb? She is -- she is the Magdalene, the Tower. I really enjoyed this - love Joan Taylor and Libby Schrader - excellent scholarship, great work!
Great presentation! I think they are probably right that “Magdalene” is an epithet that probably doesn’t have anything to do with Tarichaea. I am skeptical of the idea of Mary Magdalene coming from Bethany, though, since the Synoptics say she (w/ other women) followed Jesus from Galilee. It should be noted our earliest source for the anointing of Bethany, gMark, does not say the anointing took place at the woman’s house but rather the house of Simon the Leper. So even if you accept the idea that the anointing woman of Bethany is Mary Magdalene, I wouldn’t assume Gjohn is correct in identifying Bethany as Mary’s village. There seem to be many layers/years of confusion and conflation going on here.
There is growing scholarly support for the identification of Lazarus as the Beloved Disciple, the leader of this particular Jesus group and the author of the fourth Gospel. Jesus' love of Lazarus if referred to a couple of times in John 11, suggesting he is 'the beloved'. Following this logic, it was the later death of Lazarus which created the crisis in this Jesus community which necessitated the John 21 epilogue, especially vss. 22-23, i.e., since Lazarus had been raised from death by Jesus it had been assumed that he would not die, but he did, and the group started to spin apart. You'll find a lot more on this in Bible Alive Presentations on TH-cam.

Heartbreaking to think of all the places mentioned here that have been destroyed over the last 4 months by people who claim to belong to this land.

Thank you ❤love your work
Thank you. So interesting. I am interested to hear ideas as to why She would have been erased. 🙏🏻🩵✨
Sehr interessante und überraschende Ausführungen für einen Nicht-Theologen. Besten Dank an Frau Schrader und Taylor.
If Mary Magdala is Mary of Bethany then the brother of Mary, Lazarus could be the beloved disciple. I would run to my brother.
