852 in Portland - Turn the volume up for some sweet Detroit music!

852 driving through some of Portland’s less beautiful areas. The music sure is nice, though!
852 is a 1984 Gillig Phantom, former San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). It's equipped with a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA and an Allison HT747 transmission. The bus has been professionally painted to the original SamTrans colors to match when it left the factory in 1984. The interior is intact and in excellent condition. SamTrans retired this bus and then reconditioned it to use as an exhibit/special events bus, before auctioning it off in the summer of 2018, when I purchased it. Exterior paint job was done in 2019. The bus resided in Southern California until March 2021. It is now in Oregon.

I can tell its a gillig phantom by the grooves in the right hand corner but then again the engine is a dead give away 😂

If I had my choice of Allison transmissions between the V730, and the HT747, I love ❤️ the HT 747 WAY BETTER THAN THE V 730

Man, that Detroit music is just fabulous! Where was the camera mounted during this ride? How'd you manage to get the exhaust sound without the wind noise? Please, please do another one exactly like this, but much, much longer! For me, the longer the better!
