This concept was actually found in Middle East before. Muslims call it Qaylula which is a midday nap
It came to Spain like many other things with muslim rule

Most muslim around the world follow this culture... because its a sunnah of our prophet
Here in portugal sestas are what we call them i have them regularly
Siesta is currently possible only during the weekends
So a siesta is really just like a long ass nap and recess for an entire country every day. I know where I am planning my next vacation.
In my country in Ivory Coast, the siesta is really important so we had over hours break time to eat and have a nap before working in the afternoon and once in the UK I had like 30 minutes break, I was so shocked i was like What!!! 😆 🤣 😂 my colleagues wouldn't beleive it, probably took me for a lazy one 😅
We also take a siesta in Goa, India..shops close for lunch and they come back in the eveninv after a short nap. think the Portuguese left the siesta culture behind.
Can you visit the Bernabeu , camp nou and Wanda Stadiums ??? You're not a football fan drew .
