I'd argue this is Bluegrass, not Country in any way. The subject matter of the song is someone murdering their lover and being hanged for it. It seems to be the last thoughts of a man listening to the executioner count to three before dropping him from the noose, hence after three rounds hell be in good company in hell with other murderers and the like. Plus their on the proverbial old country road where the Devil made a deal. It's Bluegrass fo sho.

They are Blue Grass musicians, it's a genre that branched off the country genre in the deep south. however these guys supercharged it little bit. because they also perform some cover songs. and two of the cover songs were originally performed by Rock and Roll musicians. one is "The House of the Rising Sun" The Animals. and the other is "Strange" The Doors. and The Dead South nailed it on those songs. they really did the original artists justice.
